there is a really sad ongoing post on the austin subreddit where someone is frantically looking for their friend who they can't get a hold of that works at target and was apparently shot.

they did. i have family diaries talking about floods and droughts outside of marble falls from the 1840s to the 1930s even then they were furious when the rivers were dammed
if it's anything like i experienced in harvey, most important thing was able bodies on the ground to help with rescues.
government while obviously important takes too long, people have to save their fellow people.
that's just one of the camps. stuff of absolute nightmares. i'm deeply afraid this will go down as one of the most horrific events in Texas history.

yeah i don't think people understand. this was literally a wall of water crashing down river. think tsunami though the river valley.
or for gulf coaster like myself, a unexpected hurricane storm surge with zero warning at 2am.
