  1. What’s the feeling on Irish whiskey around here? Our group picked up a Redbreast 27 and can’t stand it, but I’ve had a couple of the Spots that are great and the Redbreast Kentucky Oak was a great pour too.
  2. I don’t hate secondary groups. They serve a purpose and I’ve been involved on both sides of several transactions, though I’ve only used it once in the last year. I’m increasingly confounded by people that hoard whiskey to the point of owning more than they are likely to drink in their lifetime. It only contributes to the problem. I don’t own a backup of a single bottle in my collection. And I’m downright over the culture of posting pictures as some sort of dick measuring contest. Yes, I’ve posted some pics on this thread. No, I don’t plan to do it any more. We all know what these bottles look like at this point. I’m here for the dialogue on what’s good and what’s not, but I couldn’t be less interested in looking at pictures of other people’s bottles.
  3. I don’t know that you’re going to find a pure play bourbon that you like just based on what you shared about your preferred profile. If you could find a High West campfire…..maybe? Honestly, just avoid bourbon. It’s become something of a pain in the ass over the last several years. The awesome thing about loving Scotch is that it’s highly available.
  4. I have learned I primarily like HH wheaters. Larceny Barrel Proof and Old Fitz have always agreed with my pallet. I haven’t dabbled with any of the EW, and would probably start with a pour before chasing down a bottle.
  5. That’s sweet that you’re sending us positive thoughts. You know it won’t help one bit though. And however you and Bill feel about Booker’s is exactly the way I feel about any EC product. I’ve had several and I’ve never found one I wanted another pour of.
  6. Havertz had three gilt edged chances and converted one. Happy with any W these days, but that shouldn’t have anywhere near as nervy at the end as it ended up being.
  7. I mean I feel like if you think it’s $130 good then charging $160 isn’t wildly out of line. I’d prefer that prices tick up to curb secondary shenanigans, but that’s just me.
  8. Not I. A buddy of mine went in to hunt and found a Shenks, but I don’t know the guy that got the Willet or the RR13.
  9. https://www.breakingbourbon.com/review/bardstown-bourbon-company-west-virginia-great-barrel-co I knew I wasn’t crazy…
  10. What's the over/under on games played here? 4.5? I'll be rooting like hell for the over, as he would be step function improvement to our play in the back end of our defense.
  11. Their Origin products should hit TX in the coming weeks, and those are all priced in the $50 range. I’m looking forward to trying expressions that are 100% Bardstown distillate.
  12. Not particularly. Weller Full Proof is sorta in the ballpark, and runs $250-$350 secondary.
  13. Yep. And I have zero qualms recommending it at that price point.
  14. Anyone here tried the Bardstown x West Virginia Barrel company collab? It’s a blend of MGP and Canadian ryes finished in infrared toasted barrels. It’s probably one of the best Bardstown collabs I have had in the last 3 years, if not ever. It’s flying under the radar, but it’s a head turner.
  15. Maybe one day people will stop assuming that a program’s historical prestige is the sole factor in the attractiveness of any given HC job. Program prestige isn’t unimportant, but Maslow’s hierarchy of needs tells us that prestige alone isn’t the end all be all for a lot of coaches.
  16. I could not disagree more. As I've tasted more and more things, Booker's only gets elevated in my mind. I've got no problem paying $90-$100 for the good batches. I had the 2022-03 on NYE and was a big fan.
  17. I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but I’ll just say that I love the product and abhor so much about how the process to get some of it has evolved. And I absolutely believe every asshole that got in line at any point before the store was open is to blame for a big part of that. The collecting, hoarding, and gloating is cringe worthy. I’ve been guilty of it myself in the past but I’m done with that shit.
  18. He definitely played better tonight than he played in any game post OU. He hit on 66% of his 47 passes and didn’t turn it over. That could have been 70%+ with another TD if X played anywhere near as great as he thinks he is. I was also happy to see him show a little more poise in the pocket, though he still has a tendency to bail on plays a beat too quick at times. Right now, Quinn is not good enough to overcome our lack of talent and inconsistency at WR, but there is reason to believe his ceiling is well north of where he’s at today. His football IQ is a big question mark, and could be something that prevents him from reaching the potential that everyone saw in HS. Sark needs to spend a lot of time with him in the film room and working on his footwork in the off season. He’s a work in progress, which is to be expected for any college QB with single digit starts under their belt.
  19. Casey Cain outplaying X was not a square that I expected to cover on my Alamo Bowl bingo card.
  20. So fucking pathetic. I don’t understand people that place that little value on their own time.
  21. I love bourbon. I hate bourbon fan culture. It’s almost exactly like collecting baseball cards was in the early 90’s, but with way more douchebags. The thought of getting in any line to buy whiskey is just ludicrous in my view. I haven’t bought a single bottle for my personal collection this year. I’ve pitched in on a number of bottles that we share as a group of 10, and frankly that’s going to continue to be my MO for a vast majority of releases.
