  1. Whiskey is basically Pokémon or Baseball Cards for men at this point.
  2. The JD special releases are not for me. I got last year's Rye at retail and was wholly underwhelmed. I ended up trading my open that was ~65% full for a sealed Stagg Jr. 15 and couldn't have been any happier about that. That whiskey had no idea what it wanted to be, other than just loud. I had two separate pours of the Coy Hill and walked away thinking it was a step down from last year's Rye. Oak for days, with a short dry finish that left me wondering why anyone would want to own a bottle. I guess that's what's so crazy about whiskey. One man's drain pour is another man's unicorn.
  3. On Coy Hill, Raj (OLC owner) cracked a bottle and provided sample pours for his regulars since he only got 2 bottles. I ended up getting to try it twice, and I liked it less than last year’s Rye which I really didn’t care for. I ended up flipping my open bottle on the secondary for a Stagg Jr 15 and almost felt bad for the guy that got the JDBPR. Coy Hill was just not good. Both sips were Oak dominant with little to no fruit to balance it out and a short dry finish to boot.
  4. Put me in the "fucking sick of it" camp. Just hearing about people sitting in line for shit makes me roll my eyes. I'm sitting on something north of 70 bottles, and there is just no need to try to keep pace. My plan for 2022 is to not buy a single bottle. Assuming I can pull that off, I'll allow myself to splurge on something nice via secondary. I honestly think it's going to be a relief to not worry about whatever new shit gets dreamed up for this year.
  5. The Kosher series whiskeys are all fine. They are priced on the lower end of the mid-tier at ~$40 and that’s pretty much what they are worth. You don’t see them often because, well, they are still Buffalo Trace products and so many people have lost all perspective when it comes to that brand. I think it’s worth picking up assuming you’re paying MSRP. It would no doubt make a great Old Fashioned if nothing else.
  6. Hell yeah I drank it all. I wanna say the last pour was in 2014 or so? Can't say for certain. I ended up selling the decanter, box, etc. for more than I paid for the full bottle of whiskey to begin with, but I find myself really wishing I hadn't. Not because I wanted to hang on to it, but because I'm worried someone is going to pass it off as the real deal and rip someone off. I didn't include the actual cork based topper when I sold it, which was custom to the bottle. Hopefully that's enough to prevent the counterfeit risk, but in retrospect I should have just destroyed the bottle or displayed it somewhere.
  7. True story. I bought this bottle at MSRP ($350) back in 2011 at Wiggy's Liquor down on East 6th. Spent all day calling around liquor stores looking for a bottle of the PVW23, and was about to give up when I struck gold. Shit was fucking delicious. Found the old thread at the shag: http://www.shaggytexas.com/board/showthread.php/93435-The-Holy-Grail-of-Bourbon And yes, I want to punch 2011 me straight in the balls for describing it as "impossibly smooth".
  8. If only he had that classic over the top arm angle like Mahomes uses every throw.
  9. Good grief people. We’re not getting Harris or Perkins. Are people legit holding out some glimmer of hope or are you fools trolling hard?
  10. Watts is now our top priority at CB. Need to lock up that transfer ASAP.
  11. They can sustain, but NIL will remove any sort of competitive advantage they might have long term. Once all your big programs figure out their strategy, players will be well compensated across a majority of P5 schools and that’s no longer a variable they can over drive to steer players their way. Perhaps that’s why they have been so generous this cycle. They know the window is closing.
  12. The writing has been on the wall for a minute. That’s why getting Brooks to flip was so massive for the staff.
  13. But the portal allows players to take those risks with limited consequences. He can bounce to a P5 school if Deion leaves or he's not happy with his NIL opportunities. Guessing he was compensated pretty well for today's decision. I assume the same will be true in 1-2 years when he hits the open market again.
  14. Ketch is a miserable piece of shit, but I have no idea how anyone can expect him to sit on news related to QE. From what I gather, our own players and commits have been doing the same. Are they also pieces of shit? It’s going to be the most high profile portal decision from this year, so the idea that you could keep things a secret in the era of social media seems like a major reach. The better question is why anyone in the world would pay that fucker a single cent for his “services”.
  15. Blake is the former insider. The guy that said he’s losing faith in Ewers is just some random poster that is being a pussy about the whole thing.
  16. I haven’t followed his recruitment closely, but looks like he’s an Athlete that can project to either side of the ball. Rivals actually lists him as a WR: https://247sports.com/player/xavion-brice-46098247/ Pulling in the visit because they have something planned for Thursday is also possible. That said, it would be pretty unprecedented to have any sort of press conference or event related to a player transferring in.
