  1. Yeah, I'll take a .550 OBP guy, with a better than 1:1 BB to SO ratio, hits for stellar average, and is a threat to steal bags.
  2. Yep. Was about to say the same thing. Crazy he went from an AA to pretty bad in big situations on defense and horrible at the plate.
  3. Isn’t the proposed total scholarship count at 25 for baseball at Texas? Or are you talking about splitting them so everyone will be on some form of athletic scholarship?
  4. Some highlights: Some decent three-point shooting stats this past year. Free-throw percentage needs to come up:
  5. White better hope like hell Texas wins tomorrow. I love that the commentators are actually discussing the coaching decisions.
  6. Lol. If he was ever going to bring her in tonight, he should have done it earlier.
  7. No, most of us get it. But there are other variables here at play. Atwood not doing shit when Texas just needs a run or two hurts this team too. White went with a stupid strategy leaving Salmon in too long, but that's not the only issue here - it's just the biggest.
  8. This is a laughable take, man. Having your best offensive player just disappear on the biggest stage two years in a row certainly contributes to coming up short. Exactly.
  9. And then Tech has all the momentum and confidence back again for game three.
  10. I know Atwood came up huge last night, but her going 1-for-whatever in the world series may just fuck Texas
  11. Yeah. You cut bait while you've still gotten away with it, or at the first sign of trouble. None of that happened. Just dumb. Potentially trying to retain Salmon from transferring by risking winning an NCAA title is dumb AF.
  12. Yep. Really, really dumb strategy. You don't go to a freshman who has no championship experience and has been up and down all year.
  13. Again. WTF is White thinking here?!
  14. Why is Salmon in this high leverage of a situation? Fuck
  15. It’s the same thing in baseball too. Check the out total in that picture.
  16. Lol, yep. Fair enough...
  17. That's an interesting way to describe a major league baseball player who just become the first Tiger to hit three homers in a game since 2016 haha. For the uninitiated, she's married to Detroit RF, Kerry Carpenter:
  18. Even baseball? I thought there was going to be a large increase, but not a full 34 (or whatever the proposed new roster limit would be). Actually, I found the answer. Proposal is just to 25, which is still a huge increase. https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/college/longhorns/2025/02/27/texas-announces-plan-to-add-200-scholarships-after-ncaa-settlement/80584799007/ That proposal should make both men's and women's T&F insanely competitive, henceforth
  19. I don't know how the rule is adjudicated in that scenario, but I am assuming not. The out was made, so interference doesn't matter. But that's not what happened, so the sequence of events and how to apply the rule is probably different. In football, a coach either gets to tack on a penalty to a catch even if there's DPI, or gets to decline a penalty, so maybe it's something similar to the latter (you can decline it/not call it). While I watch Texas softball, I'm not intimately familiar with the rule book like I am college baseball. What I've learned tonight is that @bschoolprof should probably be a college softball umpire - and a pretty damn good one, at that haha. Maybe he'll weigh in on this one too.
  20. So it wouldn't have matter then, right? The batter was already out and the runner returned to the base already.
  21. Agreed, but the series ain’t over yet. They still might win.
  22. That’s not the rule. Batter interference calls the runner out. Umpire interference just sends the runner back. I just don’t see how you can call both, because the steal attempt doesn’t actually occur if umpire interference is first. But that’s just my logic, not me reading a rule book.
  23. Can’t it not be the called to end the game because the runner didn’t actually end up attempting a steal because they called umpire interference, negating the throw? Logically, batter interference shouldn’t apply there then, right? I agree it was batter interference, but it seems like it doesn’t apply once they negate the steal attempt due to umpire interference.
  24. https://www.on3.com/news/uscs-nil-power-no-1-recruiting-class-signal-lincoln-rileys-program-is-turning-corner-we-were-very-behind/ "We were very behind" “This is not one of those things where it’s a bunch of hollow promises, and things aren’t being followed through. It’s important to this university right now.” Interesting that USC admits they were very behind, but more interesting that maybe their current class isn't built on "hollow promises." As the proverb goes, "we'll see."
