  1. Borba is going to be fine. If anything, his decent .951 FLD% should increase next season with an entire off season of work. If he even marginally improves at the plate, he's one of our best all around contributors. Visually, he's a player with high highs and low lows. When one actually drills down into his stats, he's a good contributor.
  2. His OB% was .410 and he slugged .574. Those are both excellent numbers for a college player. While he certainly seems limited at 3B, we could do much, much worse than Borba at DH. I'm not concerned if we roll with him at DH.
  3. I know they're still after Ford from UVA, but Ford is ranked as a third-round pick, at worst. I wonder if this ends the portal for Texas, or if they'll still try to land another pitcher. Either way, they've crushed it in the portal.
  4. https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/draft/ Neither of them are on MLB.com's most recent top-200. I believe it's much more likely both are back than none. However, we probably retain one. My thought exactly.
  5. Agreed. Although, I think Mendoza should hit second.
  6. What freshman pitchers do you think will actually contribute this upcoming season? Cozart is the only one I really know much about. He has great stuff.
  7. C - Tinney (hopefully) 1B - Livingstone 2B - Mendoza 3B - Borba/ARod SS - Becerra LF - Moroknek/Freeman/Williams CF - Robbins RF - Freeman/Moroknek DH - ARod/Borba Seems like an upgrade at the plate, to me. Seems like Volantis, Harrison, Riojas, Bing, Hamilton, Saunier, Flores, and Dotson may all factor into the starting rotation conversation (including Tuesdays). Grubbs and Burns seem destined for long relief, with Walker as situational stuff, and Higgins as the closer. It'll be interesting to see how Howard, Navarre, Rerick, and Moffett develop. There will be attrition here, though. While I'd love another proven SP, that group is a great base.
  8. Yep. I corrected myself pretty fast lol. Oops
  9. While I totally get what you're saying (he lacks the big offensive upside for a SS, like we saw from Flores in 2023), we could do a lot worse than Becerra, especially at the bottom of the order. I'll take a guy with only 13 errors at a premium defensive position and an OBP around .400, especially when we had multiple black holes in the bottom portion of the batting order this past season. Any idea what his avg and OBP were in ACC play this season? I can't find them sorted out. Edit: looks like the avg was .333 in ACC play.
  10. Yep. Texas is totally going to be the Achan to NIL's Jericho. Oh, wait. Alabama and UGA have been doing this for years with multiple elite d-line recruits and it has worked out totally fine. Good call, GatorZru1e
  11. I'd love C and one more SP. However, there's plenty to go with at pitcher on our roster, especially with the new portal additions. Regardless, this team is going to be salty. Get Tinney, and that's especially true.
  12. That's what it would seem, especially if UGA thinks they're out.
  13. And Yale is still the best college football program, I guess. There is no logic to this. It would also mean Texas has been a better baseball program than Florida the past 15 years (since 2010). Florida: 9 CWS appearances, 1 title (2017), 2 runner up (2011, 2023), but only 1 title overall. Texas: 5 CWS appearances, no titles, no runner ups, but 6 total titles overall. Also, holy shit, that 15-year span of results is depressing as hell. GTFO here, Greenspoint.
  14. I need to not take the bait, but USC? What on earth are you talking about? Having more titles in the history of college baseball does not equate to, “Still have better baseball programs than us.” LSU, I would agree that they are the premier program in college baseball and have been the past 20 years. USC has won one title in the past 48 years and has only been to Omaha four times in that span, the last of which was in 2001. There are, at least, 50 programs better than them right now. Fucking Greenspoint.
  15. Anyone got any of that doom and gloom Satya stuff from earlier this week? The boners are starting to get too big ‘round these parts again.
  16. I hope with my entire being that Livingstone scores the first TD of the season. This place will go all the way to 11. Then, directly following, Satya will write his newest exposé on why Texas is screwed, CTJ will pass out from the sheer emotional dissonance of the entire experience, and SydneyCarton will give us one of the most amusing and memorable recaps of the event in this site's entire existence. In short:
  17. Yep. This is the doom loop we seem to be stuck in as a program.
  18. At some point there must be progression in terms of outcomes. The Kelly fatigue is real, and it's mostly due to the lack positive progression despite every resource to do so. Like with Rodney Terry, I hope it's abundantly clear she should be retained, or let go, after this season. However, I'm inclined to predict it'll be more of the same.
  19. Of course the gray hat is mostly hiding behind Higgins in the photo since it seems we've decided we'll never wear them again.
