  1. Where does it say he’s entering the portal? That just says he’s maintaining college eligibility.
  2. I'd rather Tulo be one of the three paid assistants under the next head coach. I think he'd be a real asset on the trail and with hitting/defensive development.
  3. Well, that was a fun glimmer of hope while it lasted (really, just the first 10 games). My assumption is they cross under the .500 mark today and live there the remainder of the season. Let's not fuck up again next offseason, again. Okay, front office?...
  4. This is all fair. To be clear, my assumption is that Young "succeeds" at least at the historical level that BYU tends to. BYU Basketball seems to have a general floor of "make the tournament" success - although, this has been a tougher assumption the past 10 years. They're in a harder league now with a brand new and unproven coach, so we'll see. I do agree that this is a more inspiring hire than Kentucky's - from a general program prestige POV.
  5. While Young seems impressive based on what you said, he has practically no college coaching or recruiting experience, and none in the past 18 years. Tons of great college coaches have been poor fits in the NBA, and the inverse can also be true. I don't think it's a bad hire by any means, but it's also not a sure thing. It's more likely that BYU Basketball remains mildly successful, as they usually are.
  6. Yes, sorry. Head coach at SHSU --> Tulane --> Texas. I misremembered the order, but it doesn't change the point.
  7. It was one - petscii. You two are the only morons suggesting Texas hire a 4A high school coach as it's next head coach. Regardless, it's a moot point. That's just about the opposite of CDC's hiring method. Thank God he won't make such a stupid decision.
  8. He deserves to be neg-bombed into next week for this asinine comment. I'm not sure he's trolling.
  9. So, let me get this straight. The majority of this board has historically complained about (and regretted) hiring Pierce from SHSU, other coaches from the non-P4 level in football/basketball, and coaches in general without significant postseason skins prior to Texas (also Pierce), and you don't think hiring a high school coach to be the head coach at arguably the most historic college baseball program is far fetched?
  10. So much is incorrect about this statement. Pierce has made the College World Series three times in seven full seasons at Texas. It will be two of the last four after this one. Are you aware that Pierce is also the pitching coach this season; after hiring, and firing, poor pitching coaches repeatedly, and now making himself the third one in the past three seasons? So, in summary, launching the pitching coach into the sun would be literal definition of "firing" Pierce.
  11. Texas drops this game, the outside shot at the post season has to be gone. No way a team with this many Q4 losses gets in. Pierce needs to go with it.
  12. That honestly kind of sucks for Bert. I obviously don't know all of the specifics or what he is being compensated via NIL, but scholarship athletes get different benefits than non-scholarship athletes. On the surface, based on his production, he deserves to be on scholarship and benefit from NIL.
  13. So a shorter, less disruptive, less athletic (worse) version of Mitchell. Hard pass.
  14. I hope so, unless they’re an absolute badass at both ends like Augustin was.
  15. Yeah, I agree. It’s completely rationale to have both some excitement and trepidation about all of this. That’s how I feel @Dbeasy is operating.
  16. Uh, you were the one who established disappointment since ISU didn’t make the tournament…
  17. No idea on that, but supposedly he received a ton of NIL money to return.
  18. This is a fantastic start, that’s for sure
  19. Hey, now that Texas is in the SEC and will regularly play BBN, it’s your coming out party.
  20. Kent in. Let’s get all the Indiana State guys.
