  1. From NPR, story on the new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who is clearly in over his head. Of course, Trump is full of shit again: According to Trump, the general suggested the Islamic State could be defeated in a week. "One week? I was told two years," Trump said he asked. Caine explained that the issue was that his orders come from D.C. rather than being informed by the field. "You're the first one to ask us our opinion," Caine told Trump, as the president recalled. "So I went back and I said, 'I'm going to get back to you soon, Razin. I think you're great,'" Trump said. "I like you, Razin Caine." Trump referred to this encounter in Iraq again at last year's CPAC. But in this retelling, Caine asserted that the Islamic State could be defeated in four weeks, not one. Trump then recalled the general saying, "'I love you, sir. I think you're great, sir. I'll kill for you, sir.' " Some U.S. officials who were not authorized to speak publicly, and are familiar with the exchange, say that remark never happened. Trump also claimed that Caine wore a "Make America Great Again" hat when they first met, a story Caine has since disputed.
  2. Oh really? You don't say? So it's happening just like we ---- and every economist from Adam Smith to Thomas Sowell to Ludwig von Mises ---- said it would? No.
  3. I realize some of y'all don't want to go to X, but this takedown of Trump's top trade rep. by Rep. Stephen Horsford of New York is the most savage beatdown of any official I've ever seen on Capitol Hill. "Which billionaire just got richer?" is a bumper-sticker slogan if I've ever heard one. And the trade representative's mewling, pathetic comments are epic, too. PLEASE watch this and share it. Horsford needs to be President. https://x.com/atrupar/status/1910031725138260167 Rupar is doing the Lord's work, too.
  4. Perhaps if there were any facts the media would report them.
  5. Despite what Trump said and the fact that there were no bird flu outbreaks last month ...
  6. "Erase the 80 plus year old curse of NO NATTYS in ANY major Men's Sport." Curse? That's a sacred Aggie tradition!
  7. Can you imagine? "Thank you for calling TexAgs tech support. Saw varsity's horns off. My name is Rajesh ... how can I help you today?"
  8. So Elon's brother said that the tariffs were stupid and asked "Who would have guessed that Donald Trump was the most high-tax President in generations?" Uhh ... Anybody who read his platform or listened to him talking on the campaign trail? He referred to tariffs as his "favorite word" and said it's the "most beautiful word in the dictionary." It's also explicitly spelled out in his 2020 platform. Maybe this goes in the Leopards eating people's faces thread.
  9. Good god. Such performative bullshittery.
  10. Stewart has been showing out in camps. Another example of Sark and Co. identifying talent early.
  11. A Canadian professor says that Canada can't afford to do that because it would take 10 years. If the Chinese were smart, they'd offer Canada a great plane at like 20% of what the F-35 costs. The Canadians, in turn, would study the proposal. The howls from Republican senators and congressmen would be worth it. https://calgaryherald.com/news/carney-revisiting-canadas-purchase-of-f-35-fighter-jets-but-why-dont-we-make-our-own-planes
  12. I'm sure all of the reporters are scared. What's she going to do, exfoliate on them?
  13. This was my favorite season. 1 my second favorite, 2 I thought was atrocious.
  14. I would have thought 1.2 million excess deaths (as estimated by the CDC and bolstered by the National Academy of Sciences) would have done it, but I guess that was too much to ask.
  15. If Trump runs again, can we get Obama to run again?
  16. Okay ... I just watched his highlight reel. I like his size, his athleticism, and his game. I read that he was only 6'8" as a high school junior, which means he's just now growing into his body. I think he's going to grow into being a great player for us.
  17. In 1980, the U.S. share of world GDP was right at 25%. That's where it is today. In the meantime, we got so rich that we have to have mini-storage warehouses, which barely existed then, to hold our stuff, and the rest of the world got richer, too. Mission accomplished. Until now.
  18. First time to read this thread. Glad Wulaw made it.
  19. Social security administration in a "death spiral." https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/06/musk-doge-social-security Office closures, staffing and service cuts, and policy changes at the Social Security Administration (SSA) have caused “complete, utter chaos” and are threatening to send the agency into a “death spiral”, according to workers at the agency. The SSA operates the largest government program in the US, administering social insurance programs, including retirement, disability and survivor benefits. An average of almost 69 million Americans per month will receive a social security benefit in 2025, totaling about $1.6tn in benefits paid during the year and accounting for 22% of the federal budget. While expensive and challenged by an ageing population, social security remains overwhelmingly popular with Americans. But the agency has been dubbed a “Ponzi scheme” by Elon Musk, the billionaire whose so-called “department of government efficiency” (Doge) is currently slashing its staff and budgets.
  20. I don't know who this Canadian is but I like the cut of his jib.
  21. I don't think you know shit about the situation. Otherwise, you would have supplied a rebuttal.
