  1. It might have been a sim card swap. https://www.wired.com/story/sim-swap-attack-defend-phone/
  2. Contemplate life. I don't take my phone into the bathroom. Am I the weird one?
  3. While we're on the subject of JFK...
  4. That's exactly why the law that allowed these cameras deemed the offenses as "civil infractions" rather than an actual crime. They can't treat it like a crime with things like points on your driving record, jail time, a trial in front of a judge, etc. They can't even report your debt to a credit agency. Not exactly. Your "hearing" consists of sitting in front of another cop who looks at the video/photo evidence with you and then says you still owe them $75 regardless of any defense you provide. Their dealing with it as that point is a sunk cost. They have no incentive to drop it even if they think you have a decent argument. They're banking on your guilty conscience to make you pay.
  5. Round Rock city council canceled the program a few years ago citing high expenses and not being able to collect on 14,000 outstanding tickets.
  6. Oh hell yes! I was at the lake back in college. I got hot so I jumped in the water. While neck deep and holding onto the dock, something bit me on the nipple. I have never moved so fast as I did getting back on that dock. I looked down to see a trickle of blood running down my chest. Hurt like a motherfucker...
  7. phdhorn is correct in that their only recourse is the registration. It's a civil infraction, which just means that the legislators that bowed to the lobbyists and legalized these cameras knew that the tickets couldn't be criminal without violating due process laws. Several years ago when Round Rock had them, I purposely rolled through a right turn on red (entering my neighborhood) and got one just to see what it said. The "officer" that signed my violation under penalty of perjury was actually retired and not accredited anymore. I contested the ticket. That consisted of sitting in a room at RRPD for 15 minutes with another cop who didn't give 2 shits what I had to say. I threw everything away when I got home. Never got anything from a collection agency or had an issue with registration. If they had sent it to collections, that's probably when I would have paid something just to get them off my back. A couple years later, Round Rock suspended the program because they were paying Redflex too much money and hadn't been able to collect on 14,000 outstanding tickets.
  8. I stand corrected. Either my memory of college sucks or that law changed at some point. Probably the former.
  9. Now y'all got me contemplating Keen lyrics while laying in bed. The bigger issue I have with this song is the last verse. If it really was Main Street AFTER midnight, just like it was before, 21 months later at the local grocery store, Sherry might buy a paper, but HEB is most definitely not selling her a cold 6-pack of beer.
  10. But Sonny knew a man who knew some Cuban refugees who dealt in contraband. I assume the briefcase full of money belonged to "the man" and Sonny was just the mule.
  11. Our cat is a pussy. I hate her. She knows it. She climbed up onto the bed with me once. Once.
  12. You guys are scaring the shit out of me! I got it done about 8 years ago. You're making me want to go get checked again.

We saw Kinison at Cap City (Laff Stop) around '92ish. Carl LaBove opened for him and was as good or better than Sam.
  14. Counting single and 2-deck games is much easier. The casino I go to in WI every summer has 2-deck pitch tables that pay 3-2.
  15. I got to see Taylor hit 3 home runs one night a few years ago in Round Rock. Got plunked first pitch of his 4th at bat if I remember right.
  16. I wore the hell out of this CD. This was The Refreshments' only hit, but Roger Clyne has been making great music for the last 20 years. He'll be in Austin again in June.
  17. This is what hit us. Required donation basically doubled due to the loss of matching.
  18. Now back to the thread topic.
  19. I certainly don't blame you. I married a baller so I get some of it by osmosis. They now run 4 quarters with free throws similar to the NBA - shoot 2 after 5 fouls in the quarter. No more 1+1. I figured the NCAA was testing the new rules to see if they wanted to implement in the men's game, but they haven't done so yet.
  20. Neg me for knowing this, but college women went to 4 quarters a couple years ago. It's less than a minute into that Tenn/Vandy game.
  21. Why didn't you build something like this into the pool to begin with?
  22. I'm in the same boat here, and I think we're doing it the right way. I've lost 18 pounds in the last 9 months (194 to 176 at 5'10"). You also nailed how I view MY diet vs. A diet now. I did it a few years ago, then stopped and the weight went back on. I don't think that's going to happen this time. Working out feels good and it's easier to make myself get out of bed 30 minutes earlier to do it. Plus, the wife says she thinks my libido has increased as well. So I got that going for me, which is nice.
  23. It's a recurring order thing. She ordered it to ship monthly/weekly/whenever and then forgets until the next one shows, then is too lazy to cancel it. That's how we wound up with a couple hundred k-cups. Log into the account and cancel it yourself, and she'll never even realize it.
  24. Best of luck with that Simon and Turkey. The conclusion for me is that I don't think there was any permanent nerve damage. The soreness started when I got a crown put on over an old worn down filling. I think the dentist just inflamed the nerve when he was hammering the shit out of my tooth to get the crown on. That just took a month or so to heal. There's still a minor bit of sensitivity, but that's getting better as well. I'm glad I stuck it out and didn't get what would have been a voluntary root canal.
