  1. That sounds like a linear taper pot as opposed to an audio or log taper pot which is what Gibson and most companies use nowadays. No idea if linear pots were used back then. Someone else here may know.
  2. Gil, can we get a closeup shot of the pickup? Or can you take a close look at at it? According to a couple things I was reading, the Charlie Christian pickup had a notch in the “blade” underneath the B string starting around 1938. Pickups with flat blades were still used in some 1939 models, so it’s not a definitive way to age the guitar. But if the pickup is notched, it was likely made 1938 or later.
  3. Assuming there’s no serial number on the back of the headstock, look inside the treble side f-hole. You might see a factory order number on the inside of the back of the guitar. It’s a stamp with the last digit(s) sometimes being hand-written. edit: Sorry, just now saw that you said you already looked inside with a flashlight. If this guitar has a FON, that’s where it would typically be found.
  4. I just watched this on Reddit. It was similar to a Mexican cartel execution video. I don’t understand the language and I’m not going back to watch it again to look for details and clues on their uniforms, so I can’t confirm with 100% certainty that they were Chechens. But they were filming the execution, so yeah, I’m going with Chechen. The “traitor” was a Russian paratrooper wearing the traditional blue and white striped shirt which is red by the end.
  5. I’m pretty sure I have a Martin D-15M (or is it a DM?) at home. If you’re in Austin and interested in checking it out, just let me know. I’d be happy to loan it out for a bit.
  6. “Ada Hutchinson. I call him Ada, not Asa, because of certain reasons.”

  8. Anyone else notice the kicks in the first video?
  9. Is that an American Fender? I read the description and didn't see it anywhere, they usually plaster USA everywhere if it is. Yup, it’s an American Fender. The Adorama page doesn’t mention it, but other sites that sell this guitar (like Musician’s Friend) say the country of origin is USA.
  10. The least expensive American made Tele starts at around $1400. A couple cosmetic features on this particular model drive the price up: the nitrocellulose finish and the white binding on the front and back edges of the body. And Lake Placid Blue is a somewhat limited color An American Tele in nitro is a steal at $1500.
  11. Russian drones attacked Kyiv over the past couple hours. Here’s a pretty cool (unconfirmed) video of one of them getting shot down.
  12. I’m not a steel guitar guy, but my understanding is that the serial numbers on those aren’t particularly useful for getting an accurate date. But someone else might know more about that. But I believe that model was only made until 1954? The amp appears to be in very good condition for its age. Value depends on originally of the parts, but here’s a ‘58 at Carter’s with a price tag of $3800. https://cartervintage.com/shop/fender-champ-5f1-1958-tweed/2LsY4lErnNxow284tJZB1w7aso5 Does the amp have a two-prong power cable?
  13. The amp dates to August of 1957 per the GH stamp on the tube chart.
  14. Super cool. That looks like a Fender Dual 8 Professional steel guitar from the early to mid 50s. Amp looks like a Fender Champ from the late 50s to early 60s? If you see any codes on or in the amp, post them here and someone here can probably help narrow down when the amp was made.
  15. Thomas Huff is the donor who owned Jetts car wash. He bought Epstein’s Gulfstream right before Epstein’s arrest in 2019 and then tried to sue Epstein’s estate in 2021, claiming that the stigma of the plane made it worthless. FWIW the plane in question is not the Lolita Express. https://nypost.com/2021/10/28/georgia-pilot-bought-epstein-jet-weeks-before-his-arrest/amp/
