  1. This is my jam. Don't judge me.
  2. Here’s another vote for the Taylor Academy line. My GF’s nephew came to town earlier this year and asked me to help him buy a new acoustic electric. We tried a bunch and he ended up going with the Taylor Academy 12E. It’s got a grand concert shaped body so it’s smaller than a dreadnaught and really manageable in terms of its size. Like most Taylors, it was set up well and was easy to play out of the box. At $699, it’s a lot of bang for your buck.
  3. Even if you see it listed, don’t get your hopes up. It might be mine already. For example, this guitar appears to be for sale. But it’s not. It’s mine. https://collegestation.craigslist.org/msg/d/dime-box-electric-guitar/7380438538.html
  4. I haven’t run the serial number on it but the guy I got it from said he bought it new about 6 years ago. It’s got some forearm shine on it, so it’s been played some but the frets are in great shape with almost no wear on them. The strings that were on it were disgusting. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were the original strings.
  5. Here’s something to hold y’all over til noharley’s FedEx man shows up. I picked up this D-15M a couple days ago for a ridiculous price. It needed a good cleaning which I’m not totally done with just yet. Interested to see how it sounds once these strings break in, but I’m digging the mahogany so far.
  6. Have you looked at the Highway One Telecasters? No longer made but you can still find them used.
  7. Something is off with your setup if you have really high string tension with 10s on a Jazzmaster. A common complaint about the Jazzmaster is that the break angle at the bridge is too low resulting in low string tension. Some guys put 11s on them to increase the string tension. The other fix is to shim the neck and raise the bridge which increases the break angle of the strings at the bridge. You see that a lot on the older Jazzmasters. Most newer Jazzmasters have the neck pocket cut at a slightly different angle so a shim isn’t needed. You’re experiencing the opposite problem which doesn’t usually happen. How high is the bridge set on yours?
  8. 70’s Norlin era Gibson’s just aren’t as collectible and valuable as earlier vintage. Gibson made some changes to the J45 around 1969 that included square shoulders vs slope and some feel these are also overbraced compared to earlier J45s. More info in link below. https://umgf.com/gibson-j-45-s-from-the-1970-s-t2068.html
  9. Tapp tweeted this a couple hours after Fong put in his CB lulz.
  10. The DR on the left is a 68 that I bought non-functioning a few years ago. AUTF brought it back to life with a cap job. It’s an early silverface with blackface circuit. The one on the right is an early 64 that I rescued in pieces in a trade and restored over the past couple years. For some, blackface era circuitry (63-67) is a sweet spot. Most early silverface circuits can be blackface’d pretty easily by a good amp tech.

  13. Pretty sure that’s an Acoustic solid state. Maybe the G60-212.
  14. He did the hats on the table thing at his school instead of announcing on Twitter.
  15. I picked up a MIJ 60s P-bass last year that needed a new nut and setup. While my luthier was doing the setup he noticed a deep gouge/ding on the rosewood fretboard so he used this technique to get it out. It was really deep so he wasn’t able to remove it 100% but it’s barely noticeable now.
  16. This slo-mo video shows the last kick Conor threw before the leg gave out.
  17. Yeah the line to get the tickets sucked. I heard about it just before tickets went on sale at noon on Wednesday, and I just happened to be near downtown so ran down there and got in line. Sun was beating down with no shade but the Mohawk dudes passed out cold waters to folks in line. The show was great. Played a lot of older tunes from Gimme Fiction and Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. It was packed, but that was expected. It was awesome to see a real live show again.
  18. Tomorrow night at Mohawk. Anybody else going to this?
  19. Did any of y’all catch Willy’s Wonderland? It came out on a couple streaming platforms in February. Cage plays a quiet loner who gets stranded at an old haunted family entertainment center (like Chuck E. Cheese) and battles the possessed animatronics. Cage yells, screams and grunts occasionally throughout the movie, but he doesn’t say one word the entire time. My 12-year-old boy loved it and now he wants to watch Pig.
  20. Some Gibson acoustics? As in, more than one? Post some pics and we’ll let you know what you got, approximate value etc. But yes, Gibsons generally are fine guitars.
