  13. Michigan reportedly bolstering offensive staff with addition of MAC coordinator The job with the Wolverines marks a return to Ann Arbor for Campbell, who previously coached the team's receivers for over a decade. Doug Samuels 9 hours ago After fielding one the best passing offenses in the MAC, including a historic year from tight end Harold Fannin Jr. who broke the FBS record for both receptions (117) and receiving yards (1,555) by a tight end, Bowling Green is reportedly losing a key assistant. Falcons receivers coach and pass game coordinator Erik Campbell is heading to the Big Ten to become the assistant receivers coach at Michigan, according to a recent report from 247. The move to Ann Arbor marks a return for Campbell, who not only played under Bill Schembechler in the 1980's but also previously coached the receivers for the Wolverines for over a decade from 1995-2007. His time with the program included mentoring greats like Braylon Edwards, Amani Toomer, Mario Manningham, and current Michigan receivers coach Ronald Bellamy as well. After Lloyd Carr's retirement at Michigan, Campbell coached the receivers at Iowa and spent a few seasons in Canada with the Montreal Alouettes. He'd go on to coach at UConn and then serve as pass game coordinator / wide receivers coach at Delaware (FCS) before joining Scot Loeffler's staff at BGSU in 2019, and that's where he has spent the last several seasons. Campbell joins a strong offensive staff that underwent a coordinator change this offseason. Chip Lindsey was brought in to run to the offense while Grant Newsom (OL), Steve Casula (TEs), Ron Bellamy (WRs) and Tony Alford (RBs / RGC) all return.
  14. Dabo Swinney reportedly adding head coaching veteran Mike Houston to staff Doug Samuels 4 hours ago Mike Houston had turned around programs a few programs before leading James Madison to the FCS national title in 2016. However, in his sixth season at East Carolina, he was let go back in October after a 3-4 start. He had led the Pirates to 7-5 and 8-5 seasons in 2021 and 2022, but ECU dropped to 2-10 in 2023 and the slow start to this past fall left decision makers wanting to go in a new direction. Now he's set to land at Clemson, where Dabo Swinney continues to assemble an impressive array of talent to his support staff. ESPN shares that Houston is joining the staff to work on the defensive side of the ball. Before head coaching stops at Lenoir-Rhyne (D-II -NC), The Citadel (FCS) and then James Madison and ECU, Houston spent a few seasons calling the defense at Lenoir-Rhyne before ascending to the head coaching job and also spent a season as a Division III defensive play caller at Brevard (D-III - NC). His opportunity at the college level came after a decade of high school experience, first as the defensive coordinator at Forbush HS (NC) and then TC Roberson (NC) before becoming the head coach at TC Roberson from 2001-05. He joins a support staff at Clemson, where Dabo has recently added an NFL veteran talent evaluator in Kevin Kelly from the Chargers.
