  1. Since we play at Michigan this year... Michigan football losing a bunch of talent. Those players tell us who's ready to step up. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/michigan-football-losing-a-bunch-of-talent-those-players-tell-us-whos-ready-to-step-up/ar-BB1jiFci Michigan lost a lot of talent... https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/nfl-combine-offers-uncomfortable-reminder-2023-michigan-football-was-one-of-a-kind/ar-BB1j6doD @immamac
  2. Harbaugh took some key pieces with him to LA, leaving Sherrone with some prominent roles to fill. Here's what the Wolverines will look like under Sherrone Moore. OFFENSE: Kirk Campbell - OC / QBs (Michigan QBs) Grant Newsome - OL (Michigan TEs) Steve Casula - TEs (UMass OC) Mike Hart - RBs (Michigan RBs) Ron Bellamy - WRs (Michigan WRs) DEFENSE Wink Martindale - DC (NY Giants DC) Greg Scruggs - DL (Wisconsin DL) Brian Jean-Mary - LBs (Tennessee LBs) LaMar Morgan (Louisiana DC) SPECIAL TEAMS COORDINATOR JB Brown - STC (Michigan ST Analyst), https://footballscoop.com/news/michigan-staff-tracker-2023-24
  3. Oklahoma reportedly adding a veteran offensive coordinator to support staff Johns has held a coordinator title with six different FBS programs. DOUG SAMUELS 5 HOURS AGO Kevin Johns is a veteran play caller with stops at a number of FBS programs. According to a report today, Johns is set to join the staff of Brent Venables at Oklahoma in a support staff role. 247 shares that Johns, who spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Duke under Mike Elko, is joining the Sooners as an offensive analyst. He has previous calls with a coordinator title at Northwestern, Indiana, Western Michigan, Texas Tech, and Memphis. Outside of his time at Northwestern and Duke, Johns was brought into each of those roles under offensive-minded head coaches from Kevin Wilson (Indiana), to Tim Lester (WMU), Kliff Kingsbury (Texas Tech), and Mike Norvell (Memphis). In Norman, he steps into an offensive staff room now led by Seth Littrell, who was promoted from an analyst role to offensive coordinator following the departure of Jeff Lebby to become the head coach at Mississippi State.
  4. My guess is probably two... Murphy Mitchell
  5. Matches a lot of what I have seen. Team defense is finally getting better. Without Disu, this is a poorly coached/developed offense. A better point guard would probably help this team a lot. But I just don't have confidence in what RT is drawing up and running on offense. If Disu has an off night, or gets in foul trouble, this team really struggles.
  6. It's kinda funny that with Disu, Mitchell, Hunter, Cunningham and Weaver all returning there seemed to be a lot of early season talk about how this team would be at least a "Sweet 16" team especially when Abmas & Shedrick were added... Hmmm... now not so much. Why is that? Obviously missing a true penetrating ball handling point guard is one reason. What else??
  7. Have to define "improved his stock more" Worthy might have moved up 20 spots by running his 4.21 forty, while A.D. moved up only 5-10 spots. So Worthy probably improved his stock more... however, A.D. was expected and is likely to still be drafted earlier than Worthy. πŸ˜‹
  8. Yeah Bieniemy bringing in Juan Castillo for OL "Two days after his hire was officially announced, Bieniemy is bringing a former Washington Commanders assistant with him to Westwood, according to a report Monday from The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman. Juan Castillo, who has spent 16 of the past 17 years as an NFL assistant coach, will replace Bruins offensive line coach Tim Drevno, according to the report." https://ucla.rivals.com/news/report-ucla-o-line-coach-tim-drevno-part-ways-juan-castillo-to-fill-role
  9. Today... awesome recap of how it went down Rich Eisen: Xavier Worthy’s Record-Setting 4.21 40-Yard Dash Is Greatest NFL Combine Moment Ever
  10. Need a Michigan thread without Harbaugh... Wink Martindale bringing longtime NFL assistant with him to Michigan After serving as Wink Martindale's right-hand man in Baltimore and New York, Kevin Wilkins is now expected to serve the same role at Michigan. ZACH BARNETT 2 HOURS AGO With Don "Wink" Martindale now at Michigan, he's bringing at least one assistant with him to Ann Arbor. Kevin Wilkins will come aboard as a defensive analyst, a similar role he held for Martindale for the past nine seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants. And it figures that Wilkins will join Martindale at Michigan, considering he was a factor in Wink's departure from New York in the first place. Back in January, Giants head coach Brian Daboll fired Wilkins and his brother, outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins, as he took stock of the G-Men's disappointing 6-11 campaign. It was reported at the time that Martindale felt the Wilkinses worked for him and not the team, and thus it was outside of Daboll's authority to fire them, causing Martindale to leave New Jersey for Florida out of protest. Whether that's true or not, it's a matter of fact that Martindale is now at Michigan instead of New York, and Kevin Wilkins is set to join him, according to 247Sports. Wilkins will serve as connective tissue between Martindale and the Michigan staff, having worked with former Wolverines coordinators Mike Macdonald and Jesse Minter during his time in Baltimore. Sherrone Moore's first on-field staff as full, with Martindale as a walk-around coordinator, Greg Scruggs coaching the defensive line, Brian Jean-Mary returning as linebackers coach, and LaMar Morgan handling the secondary. In addition to understanding Martindale's vision of the total picture of what the Wolverines' defense is supposed to be, Wilkins also has experience working with linebackers.
  11. Depends on match-up, but winning in the 1st Rd of this year's NCAA tournament is likely the best result to expect with this year's up/down crazy team. Look at how little they win 2 in-a-row... Also... Glad RT is taking the ball out of Hunter's hands a lot more often. He's an off-ball guard -- sucks at point guard.
  12. Not happy about having to hire a second receivers coach, Shane Beamer takes aim at former assistant James Coley Coley left the Gamecocks after a few weeks for an opportunity to be the receivers coach at Georgia. DOUG SAMUELS MAR 2, 2024 Shane Beamer and James Coley worked on Kirby Smarts initial Georgia staff together back in 2016 and 2017, but it was evident at his press conference yesterday that Beamer didn't expect to lose Coley to a rival SEC program so soon after bringing him in. But when Smart and Georgia offered Coley the opportunity to return to Athens and work with their receivers, the veteran college assistant jumped at the opportunity. Judging from Beamer's tone and comments yesterday, he wasn't happy about having a second press conference to introduce yet another receivers coach. Feeling some type of way about it still, Beamer seemed to take a parting shot at Coley. β€œI didn’t think we’d be here again introducing a wide receivers coach, but it is what it is," he opened by saying. "The previous receivers coach made a decision that he felt was best for his family. We collected the $450k, and then-some, for him leaving, and then it allowed us to go out and hire an even better wide receivers coach in my mind, and that's not a knock on anybody, but that's how I feel about this guy right here." Beamer, talking about the hire of Limestone (D-II - SC) head coach and NFL veteran receiver Mike Furrey, admits that he didn't try to talk with Furrey the first time around because he "knew what he wanted to do with the position with some staff shuffling." "Now that we had an actual search for a wide receivers coach it was a great opportunity to bring someone else in to make us better." Hear Beamer's full comments in the clip.
  13. Might be a great hire... @Sbbruin UCLA reportedly bringing former Bruins All-American back to coach linebackers Robert Thomas was a standout linebacker for the Bruins from 1998-2001, and was a teammate of new UCLA head coach DeShaun Foster. According to a report from 247 over the weekend, Thomas is set to join the staff as linebackers coach. He most recently coached at some of the top high school programs in the state. Thomas, who was an All-American in his final year with the program and went on to an eight-year career in the NFL, ahs spent time coaching linebackers at both Santa Ana Mater Dei (CA) and Mission Viejo HS (CA). In 2015, while Jim Mora was the head coach of the Bruins, Thomas had a role with the program as a student assistant. The addition of Thomas pairs him with defensive coordinator Ikaika Malloe, defensive line coach Tony Washington, corners coach Kodi Whitfield and safeties coach Brian Norwood to round out the defensive side of the ball heading into Foster's first season. 14. Gonna be fun to discuss predictions for how far this Texas team should advance once the NCAA brackets come out. Might be a fun poll... πŸ˜‹
  15. San Francisco and Green Bay in great shape to add more quality players to their rosters...
  16. Wonder if one reason for such a quality OL class is due to all of the older, more experienced players who received an extra year to play CFB due to Covid.
  17. I'm sure Surly experts have covered this... On OTF this morning, Gerry mentioned that Texas has adjusted on offense by having both Abmas and Weaver handling the ball more often. Hamilton said it's just much better for Hunter to be an off-ball guard. No shit Gerry... πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  18. Today's OL session starts at Noon on NFL Network. One of the best ways to improve your NFL team is finding quality OL players. Gerry Hamilton mentioned that Christian Jones really helped improve his NFL draft stock at the Senior Bowl by showing he can move inside to guard.
  19. Replay of this game just started on ESPNU
  20. Tweaked a hamstring, so no running or drills at the NFL Combine 😬
