Texas Rangers 2025: Pitching has been fire. Bats not so much.
Also would have helped to have an actual DH that can actually hit. That was not particularly productive, could have made a yuge different in a couple of appearances.

Damn, first time I was able to sit through a whole longass game in a good while, just for that shitty ending.

We got any Bowlers up in here?
I read they are having a big demo event in Grandbury next month. Probably a bit over my head, but interesting. At least it would be mostly away from I35.

We got any Bowlers up in here?
Oldass thread, but I finally started back bowling again about four months ago after about a 35 year layoff, and I wasn't that good before. I got my first fingertip drill locally, at the only pro shop available within at least 50 miles, and it has been intradesting. I like the change for my hand, and I've had SOME success. But I'm pretty sure my thumb hole is way wrong, and a few revisits t the pro shop have not inspired confidence. They just waller out the edges more so the back of my thumb gets less friction, when it should be zero friction. They keep saying I have to learn to release a fingertip, but they have never watched me bowl. It is really frustrating to have only one ball I can try for fit, and it cost me more money that I really wanted to spend to try it out. I'm averaging 150 since the new ball about a month ago, not much difference in average. At times I get proper rev angle and a nice modest hook to the pocket. But I'm having to use too much grip pressure to hold the ball because of the thumb hold and the more I bowl the straighter it gets and the more inconsistent my release. I wish there were a way to try some different pre-drilled balls. Otherwise, I wish there were a really great pro shop guy that can make sure I get a legit custom drill for my hand so I can progress. Is it possible to get something close remotely and have a ball drilled and shipped? I have been tempted to find a used ball just for trying out different drills until I find something that feels right, then have a legit base layout to start with. I actually rolled a few 200-plus games and some very close with house balls for the first three months of bowling every week. But it gave me tendon issues at the base of my fingers. I don't care about having a huge hook like is all the rage nowdays, but I would like to have some more control on the ball and a comfortable grip.

Two straight games giving up no hits through six? I will allow it. Need to improve on that, though.

Dallas Cowboys 2024 Season Thread -- Jerrah the Asshat Rides Again
Oh, the humanity... LOL https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/cowboys/2025/06/26/george-pickens-pittsburgh-youth-camp-cancel/84370315007/ George Pickens is catching flak in Pittsburgh again, even as he's catching passes from his new quarterback. The wide receiver, who was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in early May after three volatile seasons with the Steelers, was scheduled to be the star attraction at the George Pickens Youth Football Camp at Pittsburgh's Highmark Stadium this coming weekend. Despite previously telling campers that he would still attend the event even after changing teams, Pickens has now decided not to participate at all, according to an email sent to attendees' families this week. The camp has been postponed until July 20 and will now feature Pittsburgh tight end Pat Freiermuith and possibly other Steelers players. The organizers are not offering refunds.

Texas Rangers 2025: Pitching has been fire. Bats not so much.
That was a gutsy win last night. That's the kind of pluck we haven't seen for a while, bouncing back from adversity. Not trying to be pollyanna fanboy, but could it be a bit of a turning point for this year's team? I don't expect them to start clobbering the opposition and storm to a division title. But maybe they can take that attitude and build on it, perhaps get in position for a wildcard spot, not that far in the standings, but they have to climb over a bunch of teams that are ahead of them. Pitching has been amazing except for some high leverage situations, particularly 9th inning. They need a legit closer that's not currently on the roster, or at least enough guys with closing mentality to form a decent closer committee. But I wouldn't want them to trade away a big future piece either.
