The initial premise is that Stanley Woodward is not your usual Trump lawyer.

And, he's damaging his credibility on his own behalf, and that of his clients, which do not include Donald J. Trump.

Everyone knows that lawyers are generally aware of credibility and how that impacts clients. What my theory presuposes is that any lawyer who agrees to represent Trump has already made the decision that credibility is no longer a going concern.

Woodward is also taking pretty indiscriminate shots at the government that are proving to be factually unfounded.  That should start to hurt his credibility at some point.

Come on Twice, at least tell us to sit down first. I damn near broke my ass falling down at the mere possibility of a Trump lawyer hurting his credibility. Heaven forfend!

  3. Tom Cat gin is fun stuff. It's barrel aged, so a bit like a floral / herbal whiskey. Not an every day drink but I like it a change of pace to sip straight up. That drink does look like ass but it's not just a gin and juice.

Has @Lidig8r explained what was so reprehensible about Southwest's conduct yet?

No, not his factually incorrect summary of the ruling (while simultaneously holding himself above CR level of reasoning). He has been busy posting in multiple other threads, and in a blog post complaining about "social injustice warriors" and "insipid" use of pronouns. I am beginning to think he is not the genial paragon of insight and wisdom that he makes himself out to be. Still giving him a pass @TwiceHorn and @DDD Dad?

Mack is the second most accomplished coach at Texas. It's hard to beat DKR with 3 championships and 11 conference championships.

That was the point in bringing up Mack. DKR is clearly #1 my a large margin. If Sark is going to be #2 then he has to pass Mack.

Southwest is petitioning for mandamus on the sanctions order.  And they're definitely gearing up to fight on the judgment.

My knowledge of the Southwest General Counsel's office is a little out of date.  I still know a handful of the lawyers who are there.  But regardless--my impression is that they don't take shit lying down.  At least historically, they have a culture of litigating pretty aggressively.

So I'm only mildly surprised that they're petitioning for mandamus on the sanctions order.  But I'm not at all surprised to see them getting ready to take that judgment to SCOTUS.

That's cool and all but I'm gonna go ahead and wait to see what @Lidig8r thinks about this when he gets some spare time.

BCS was probably slightly harder to make (but just slightly). Playoffs are just much more meaningful because if you get in you have a chip and a chair, which our 08 team didn’t have, so it’s just more impactful imo.
it will be the mark of a successful year for most teams most of the time- like making a final 4 in basketball.

The BCS had 8 teams for 8 years and 10 teams for 8 years each, so call it an average of 9 teams. That's a 25% smaller field than being in top 12 for CFP. I wouldn't call that just slightly harder. Obviously the CFP are more meaningful now but if you're going to discount 9- and 10-win seasons because of scheduling differences, I don't see how you can hand wave the difference in BCS slots vs CFP slots.

Clearly it would be super-duper great if Sark even matched Mack close enough to make it a discussion. At an absolute minimum that means we got a championship with him. I think you're being overly optimistic if you think it's a coin flip though. There's been a lot of good teams and a lot of good coaches that just couldn't get over the finish line. Sure as hell rooting for it to happen.

Telling people how they feel or how they should feel is idiotic.

Yes. I'm not sure why but I really expected better from Donkey. Claiming that Astros fan are especially disappointed that Dusty is the manager is just so out of touch, it's too obvious of a bait. It's like the 12th time my youngest has told me he's feeling updawg with a goofy grin on his face. No son, I'm not gonna ask "what's updawg?"

Sometimes you gotta be just a bit more subtle.

I never once said this was a victory for the fan base, I only mentioned that having a season that most folks think is worse than projected and using gambling website projections to make yourself feel better about it is pathetic.

And to my original point,  thanks for being honest about your disappointment. Some of that undoubtedly comes from the high expectations from previous successful seasons, so it’s natural. It’s just weird to lie or try and pretend like you aren’t disappointed in this season, especially compared to the TEXAS Rangers season thus far, when it’s obvious you are and should be. You ain’t gotta lie to kick it, Craig.

Texas is playing with house money, we are a year ahead of the plan so if we get to the ALDS that’s a win. ALCS is an absolute success.

Houston getting a wild card and scraping for life at this point in the season is just a glorious bingo card. Actually fans like David D trying to gas light how sad they are is actually the best part.

I realize you are trolling (and doing it in the right thread for sure!) but you first said this season has to be "very disappointing". I don't know any Astros fan that would call this very disappointing. The injuries suck. Losing Aluve and Yordan for so long, losing Garcia and McCullers for the season - that sucks and is absolutely disappointing. I am sure you are disappointed that DeGrom is out for the season. Injuries always suck and can change a season. Sure I'd be happier if the Astros were up 10 more games but I think the result is pretty reasonable given the roster impact of the injuries.

It has absolutely fuck all to do with the Rangers, Angels, Mariners, etc., though. I don't give a shit about those teams.

It seems fairly telling that we haven’t seen a full- throated denial by Franco at this point.

I wouldn't read much into that. I am sure that his lawyer and the team are both united in saying "Don't say a fucking word to anybody". He did have an IG where he said he was innocent and even that probably gave his lawyer an aneurism.

Ghost, I will respond later on.  Have been up to my eyeballs today. My statement was based on the reading of the Order, any my interpretation of what SW Airlines was ordered to do and what SW Airlines actually did. It has nothing to do with the merits (or the lack thereof) of the underlying case. And, as I understand it, those actions were dictated by the three in-house counsel.

Hi @Lidig8r - not sure if you're still up to your eyeballs but wondering if you've had a chance to evaluate @Ghost of LL's request for SWA's "reprehensible conduct", the "religious freedom training" that you claimed (in error) to be requested by plaintiff, the ability of ADF to conduct such training you defended (in error), or just had a change to educate yourself on any aspect of ADF in general.

I know we CR'ers tend to be beneath you but was hoping you would have a chance to show us a little reason, logic, professionalism and mutual respect. After all, @TwiceHorn, @DDD Dad, and @troph all suggested you seem like you're a good dude, not an asshole. As is it, is sure does seem like you are up to your eyeballs in something, I'm just not sure that it's not bullshit.

You know there are 10s of millions of Christians not only not committing those acts, but actively putting food in people’s bellies, clothes on their backs, roofs over their heads, visiting them in their sick rooms and on their deathbeds, comforting the grieving, correct? And not doing these things in a showy or public fashion.  And doing it regardless of the political stance, religious beliefs (or nonbeliefs), race, gender, or sexual orientation of the people in need. Some of those doing so are posters on this forum who share your political views

So kindly fuck off with that bullshit. In Jesus name.

These criticisms all referred specifically to the Mormon church, not Christianity writ large. I very much agree that not all Christians are bad. I do find it a bit gauling when a Mormon steps in to say "hey those bad people aren't real Christians. We're all good". They are not good. If needed I'll go fuck off now.
