  1. We’re insensitive or are you too overly sensitive? You don’t have to exercise to lose weight. Does your asthma prevent you from a 30 minute walk per day?
  2. I truly appreciate the feedback. Thanks.
  3. Oh I know - I can be an insensitive asshole towards the people that I used to be like. It’s not fair to them, they just haven’t hit that point. I don’t place the entire blame on them. It’s not wholly their fault. It’s a shared problem between them, the fast food industry, industrialization of the food industry adding preservatives and overall shit chemicals that fill the inner shelves of the grocery stores. It’s something I’m working on personally (my attitude towards other people).
  4. One day I said I was done being the fat guy. It was my 30th birthday - almost exactly 5 years ago. Lost the weight over the course of 18 months and kept it off for the last 3.5 years. I was getting winded from running around with my 18 month old and was tired of it. I probably went a little overboard the first initial 6 months (went OMAD, no more sodas, no sugar, etc.). Looking back, I don’t think what I did was exactly “healthy” but I’ve found a good balance now. I eat, a lot, but make good choices. I fluctuate between 180-190 (I’m 6’2”) depending on if it’s running season or not. Just did my first full marathon in January and enjoyed it enough to sign up for one again next year.
  5. Like I said, it was a rant. Sorry. Maybe I should have posted in “Trivial things that make you surly” instead.
  6. EDIT: Oh yeah, and Americans are addicted to fucking sugar. We put sugar in everything. Coffee, tea, food, orange juice, fucking PEANUT BUTTER!. WHY? If I had to estimate, I’d say the average adult American consumes about 800 calories per day in liquid calories. Drink fucking water or coffee with Splenda. It’s not difficult people.
  7. FFP (former fat person) here. Lost 120/130 lbs over the course of a year and a half or so. I went from 315 to 185/190. In my opinion, it just takes willpower and the desire to change. I did it without surgery and just by changing my diet and exercising. I now eat more volume wise than I did when I was 315 pounds. I also do distance running which helps and do weight training 3 or 4 times per week but in my opinion, it’s 100% a mental game of reprogramming yourself to actually eat well. If people would just stop eating shitty fast food, cooked at home 90% of the time, and walked half an hour a day, a lot of people would actually lose weight. A huge problem, in my opinion, is the media and publicity of dieting to lose weight. A diet is a short term fix to a long-term problem because it has a finite beginning and end. Losing weight and keeping it off is a life-style change. I’m continuously mystified by the studies that come out that says Americans eat fast food on average 6 times per week or whatever the number is. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had fast food. The amount of money that Americans spend on eating out is such a waste. It’s not just fast food either. All of the restaurants that Americans eat at have portion sizes that are way too large, cook everything in butter or peanut oil, and we eat it all because we were trained to by our parents (clean your plate or you can’t leave the table!) Americans are too lazy, too “busy”, and aren’t incentivized to lose weight and be healthy. It’s easier to just go through the drive-thru which is a fucking problem. If I had a dime for every time I heard a fat person say “I’ve tried dieting…it just doesn’t work for me!”, I’d be a fucking thousandaire. No shit, thanks mainstream media. It’s not a fucking diet. It’s a lifestyle change. I’m busy as shit, travel for work, have a kid in little league, run a half marathon damn near every weekend, and STILL have the time to meal prep every other fucking workday. When I travel for work, do I eat out 3 meals a day? No, I go to the grocery store on my way to the hotel and get healthy food for breakfast and dinner. It’s a fucking choice to be healthy. It’s a hell of a lot easier to be fat and lazy because of the fast food giants lobbying their way into Congress. Eat eggs, oatmeal, chicken, rice, avocados, leaner cuts of beef, fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Stop eating processed foods with sugar added and stop drinking fucking calories. Fuck Coca-cola. Sorry for the rant.
  8. I refuse to eat Cici's any longer. If I'm eating pizza with the kid, it's Mr. Gatti's.
  9. Trying the fruity pebbles for the first time probably next week after I finish off the tub of salted carmel MyProtein. I ran a race a few weeks ago and picked up about 75 individual servings for free from a vendor. I came up to him wearing my longhorn headband that I wear for running and he just loaded me up with free samples. Told me that I could take as much as I wanted because I was a longhorn lol
  10. Scrolled past this thread and realized I hadn’t finished todays wordle. Had three guesses done and only the first letter correct and another in the wrong spot. Next guess: bingo… Wordle 633 4/6 ⬛🟨⬛⬛⬛ 🟨⬛⬛⬛🟨 🟩⬛⬛🟨⬛ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  11. Valentina's is my go-to. I also like chipotle cholula.
  12. My evening snack typically includes homemade bread with avocado and greek yogurt with a scoop of protein powder (will sometimes add a serving of walnuts for extra fats). NF greek yogurt is pretty gross to me so I doctor it up with a few splenda and protein powder. This typically gets me to 200g protein, 80/90g fat, and 350g carbs per day.
  13. This is how I am. I do early morning workouts. My breakfast is around 700-800 calories (3 whole eggs, cup of oats with 2 tablespoons of PB and protein powder) after gym. Two lunches (combined 1100 calories of beef/rice and chicken/rice), dinner around 600 calories, then snack at around 9PM. If you're looking to lose weight, the number 1 thing you should focus your entire diet around is your protein intake. Looks like you're doing that now. Also, make sure you get sufficient fat intake (at least 80g per day). Fill in the remaining amount with carbs or more fats. Great job on the loss so far.
  14. Diet/exercise even though most people I encounter ask if I had the surgery. I decided it was time to make a change on my 30th birthday (I turn 35 next month). Complete diet 180, stopped eating out, stopped drinking calories, did low carb for the first 2 years. Lost about 90 pounds within the first 4 months or so. Then hit the exercise routine for about a year, then COVID hit and I started running for exercise. I was probably 195 when COVID hit and kept running all the way down to 180. Switched up my diet to be high carb, high protein, medium fat and when the gyms opened again, did a hybrid routine of gym/running. To answer your question, I was down to 185 in about 3 years.
  15. Congrats on the progress and good luck! I went from 316 to 185 and it was tough (6'2"). Best thing about it is being able to go into any store and buy clothes off the rack.
  16. Ran a 15k race today. Hadn’t run in about 2 weeks due to having a nasty cold. Surprised myself and did it in 1:19:28, 8:33 per mile average. Not bad really and pretty happy with myself. First time I’ve done a race this distance and first race since the Houston Marathon. Fresh15 in Tyler is a fantastic race.
  17. I will agree with this. Luckily, they’re expanding the HEB that I shop at and will be done within the next 4 months. My son’s school also has a new HEB by it so my wife can stop there on the way to pick him up.
  18. I buy quarts of kosher salt. Use that shit on everything. Even in my oatmeal. Any doctor who recommends eating less salt is a fucking moron. Salt. Isn’t. Bad. For. You.
  19. My dad went to hillcrest in the late 60s. Demographics have changed…just a bit.
