  1. No, this has to be intentional. I can only assume it was meant to make Trump look tall and in shape, and in some pictures it works. Take this photo. Of course, the Queen is pretty short herself at 5'4", but just looking at Trump, he looks tall (exaggerated by the long white vest/short jacket, as if "Hey, I got the same jacket as everyone else, but it just doesn't extend as far down on me.") and he looks pretty in shape because the sides of the black jacket against the long white vest give an illusion of a trim waistline. It can't fix the baby hands, though, which barely extend out of the sleeve cuffs. But the illusion gets busted and starts to look ridiculous when you have a more reasonable point of comparison, like in the photo you posted here. Given where Trump is standing, he's the shortest in the room, so your eye then processes the jacket differently - he can't be taller, the vests appear to be the same length (if anything, Trump's is shorter), and you can compare the jackets, which for Trump is ridiculously short... like kid-sized. Or, like the hands again, maybe even baby-sized.: And then you get this angle, where the shorter jacket doesn't block your eye from seeing the whole vest, so you can see just how fat this dude really is. So much so, that you wonder if he "sucks it in" on these other pictures... Again though - WTF with the long cuffs? It just emphasizes the baby hands.
  2. And... we have a winner in the "Guess Trump's Weight" contest!
  3. White House requests USS McCain be hidden. Tarp put up on Friday covers only the McCain name on the ship. The very next day, base commanders ordered the tarp to be removed so all ships adhere to Navy regulations. If there was "hull maintenance and preservation" going on that needed the tarp there in the first place, why wouldn't the base commanders understand the need to keep it there? They didn't order the tarp to be removed because the maintenance was over, but instead to "adhere to Navy regulations". Surely, Navy regulations allow a tarp to be put out if needed for "hull maintenance and preservation", and surely, "hull maintenance and preservation" that is severe enough to need a tarp put out to cover it would not be completed in one day? (If it had been completed in one day, then the tarp would have been removed naturally in course, right? And not on the order of base commanders for a reason other than completion of the maintenance?) This is just another bullshit back-fill excuse for a ridiculous act taken out to protect the fragile ego of our dumbmander-in-chief. Some one (or more) in the Navy allowed the tarp to be put out to cover the McCain name, and then it got noticed higher and was ordered to be removed. That's all. "Hull maintenance" is BS. That the tarp was removed before President Dumbass spoke is meaningless to the action already taken.
  4. Anytime this administration gets caught doing something reprehensible, the lies and coverups begin, pretending it never happened. So, who can say? Is this tarp covering the name of the ship?:
  5. If the white person is more likely to be arrested in your opinion because the police would rather arrest the one 'who has the money to pay their way out', then why is it the black person in your example who has "been arrested multiple times"? Shouldn't that be the more-likely-to-be-arrested white person?
  6. Hi! I'm 1990's NCAA Baseball! We decided to have a full double-elimination bracket, but then when only two teams remained, we figured, 'Screw it! Forget all this ridiculous double-elimination stuff we've been doing for the entire tournament to this point, let's just end with a single winner-take-all game!'.
  7. Buy our 'Trump loves LGBTQ' pride shirt!!! Oh, and... Trump administration proposes rule that removes Obama-era transgender health care protections and Trump's plan to let adoption agencies reject same-sex parents
  8. They were both running against candidates who were also (a veteran), or at least active duty in a military organization. Trump doesn't have that on his resume. Dodging service reads a little different. Hell, you complained about someone dodging a question. Surely Buttigieg can gain some ground unifying people against the dude who dodged a war?
  9. Tomei's choice to do that weird bouncing-trotting way of walking really annoyed me.
  10. It should also be considered that some people who claim to be experts are just uninformed insufferable narcissistic douchebags who just make up a bunch of bullcrap in a desperate attempt to try to make people overlook the simple basic fact that they are, indeed, uninformed insufferable narcissistic douchebags.

  14. It's an even bet as to whether it would be more entertaining to watch this for 90 minutes:
  15. Don't know why I didn't just put the direct link... Click the Infinity Gauntlet on the right side of the screen
  16. Google today: search for "Thanos" and click the gauntlet on the upper right. Just fun - no movie spoilers.
  17. Hm... Is this extremely dishonest, too? Or nah?
  18. Yeah, this is really the reply - Marvel didn't think the viewing public would know what SHIELD is, or if they did, they'd get the in joke of "we're working on it". But from a story perspective, the movie continuity comes from Fury and Coulson just having different personalities.
  19. The SHIELD name had been in use long before the 90's, but it wasn't well-known publicly before the Avengers stuff, and that makes all the difference. In Winter Soldier, computer-Armin Zola tells Captain America and Black Widow that SHIELD was founded and had recruited him right after WWII - he doesn't use the full words, he actually says "SHIELD". Although it could have come later, it implies the name was used even back then, as it's shown on his security clearance document. Zola transferred his brain into the computer in the 70's, so at the least, it would mean the Shield name would have to have been in use before that (again, it's written on Zola's identity document). But Zola was an "in". He was recruited by SHIELD and would know what it stands for, so he uses the shortened name. Coulson uses the full words when he introduces himself to Pepper because he is assuming that she has never heard of the organization, much less by its acronym SHIELD - and she actually hadn't at that time, so he's right. She says they should shorten it, and Coulson says they are working on it, though he knows they already have a shortened version, he's just polite enough not to dismiss her suggestion. Plus, at this point, she is still an untested ally. By the end of the movie, she's an "in," too - she's worked with the agency by that point and Coulson expects that they will work together again, so when she starts going into the full words of the agency, he lets her in to just calling it SHIELD. Fury not using the full words is probably more just a personality thing. He might assume that Captain Marvel is an "in" because of what he was briefed on before they arrived to meet her (or maybe thinks she would know what SHIELD is based on her actions), but it's probably more that he just doesn't have the politeness that Coulson has (i.e. Fury doesn't care if she knows what SHIELD is or not), and instead prefers the time-saving use of just "SHIELD". Introducing himself that way also puts Fury in a power position - if someone doesn't know what SHIELD is, then there is the conclusion that Fury either has more knowledge or more clearance - and Fury would happily put himself in either of those categories. So ultimately, long explanation, but it's probably just that Coulson and Fury introduce themselves differently from each other, or differently depending on who they are talking to.
