  1. I disagree. Rivalries are one of the cornerstones of sports. For me and I would imagine most, it starts in high school. There is the 'hated' rival that you get up for each time you play. That bleeds over to college as well. The regional rival that has been played time and again. Once we start chipping away at that, we lose something tangible.
  2. Definitely. I'm sure that was made possible by having some great teams. Plus having your commissioner be the one who created the BCS. Throw in the fact they consistently have been given 50% of the field in the cfp, it's not like the odds were heavily stacked against them.
  3. The other method is so difficult, saying the name is blasphemous
  4. I agree. Are people so lazy they can't pour liquid into a washing machine? Plus, people are probably paying 400% more for the 'convenience'.
  5. that and convincing people that a real playoff isn't possible and we should instead, invite teams. Oh, and the sec conference is so great that two of their teams should be invited to the post season. mind as well throw in the fact that 70% of the bowl games are in their backyards, making it easy for their fans to get there, while opponents and their fans often have to travel hundreds of miles further
  6. he just got passed over for DC at miami, so he bounced
  7. one for each hand and one for your face
  8. from a logistical and tradition standpoint, I'd rather play texas teams than any of the shit sec teams we are going to face.
  9. ou needs to be but fucked
  10. Glad there is no problem
  11. Sooo, in college I was friends with this gal and unbeknownst to me, she grew up in the LDS church. one night we were hanging out and i was bagging on the premise of the LDS church and book of mormon. The golden plates, how jo smith found them in the hills of new york, the premise that indigenous americans created the plates but he was the only one that could interpret them using a seeing stone. oh and no one has ever seen the plates and he was the only one that could connect with angels to see them. sounds legit. anyways i just railed on it and felt super bad when, after i was done railing, she told me she grew up in the LDS church lol we laugh about it now and are still friends, thankfully.
  12. I worked with a byu grad on a project. super nice, humble guy. I've also run into some byu grads at a couple games. never felt a tinge of douche or gods gift or anything from any of them. i guess there are douche bags everywhere, though and you must have run into them.
  13. I don't think of "Pro" wrestling as being rigged because it isn't a real sport. It's entire premise is entertainment run by a predetermined narrative. The NBA is / was the shadiest out of all of the leagues. The league office told refs which players and teams to favor, to create the best possible TV ratings for playoff matchups. Not sure if they still do it because i stopped watching it, but it was run that way with Stern Shady. Not sure if the NFL does that - but it is possible. The way I see it there are 3 types of bad calls. outright missed, some are missed on purpose (ref bias or shady ref) and some are instructions that come from the top.
  14. houston is worse. they bring no tv market. at least byu brings something tangible in that respect and it will only continue to grow, since joseph smith required his followers to have many offspring to spread his made up word
  15. They are church of LDS right? I think any trophy or apparatus associated with a byu rivalry should be the golden plates.
  16. That's fine but I have never understood why the unbalanced schedules have rarely been discussed in the media. there is a clear advantage to playing fewer conference games than anyone else, and a cupcake in november. it's like an extra bye week
  17. That extra conference game means half of the teams are guaranteed an extra loss each year. It drags the records down, pushes some teams out of bowl eligibility and increases your risk of losing based on frequently playing the same teams. it's why the sec has never left the 8 conference game format and why they play a cucpake in november. the rest of the conferences need to follow suit. its' schedule manipulation to give a conference the best possible record. I would add - the 4th ooc game does not have to be a cupcake.
  18. Looks like the Big 12 is still run by morons. Didn't drop the 9 conference game schedule.
  19. Best player, not just QB, of the flag-football era
  20. I find your ideas fascinating and would like to subscribe to your newsletter
  21. Nothing good ever results from stuff like this. it either gets blown into something it wasn't, or it was indeed as bad or worse than reported.
  22. not directed at you, because that statement has been a boring, unoriginal staple used in sports for at least 40 years now.. holy shit i cringe when i see or hear it. it's just a lazy ass cliche the only time i like reading or hearing cliches is when i'm watching bull durham
  23. Congratulations on a fantastic run-on sentence.
  24. It's a proposed bill pushed by a former athlete.. one of hundreds that get proposed every year. The same bill died and went no where last year. They are still morons, though.
  25. TCU loves them some former baylor / briles coaches: Kendal Briles OC - ex Baylor coach Gillespie DC - coached with Art Briles for 5-6 years at stephenville Kazadi S&C - former Baylor S&C coach for 7-8 with Art Briles at Baylor. I think he was with art at UH, too but don't quote me on that. Calrton Buckels cornerbacks - former Baylor cornerbacks coach (2011-2016)
