  1. I mean, maybe like everyone else he just isn’t all that into playing for the whitesox.
  2. I mean, yeah. be interesting to see what that would take. Melton, Mathews and Blubaugh? I’d swallow hard and pull the trigger.
  3. Yall and your hat and uniform fetishes never fail to crack me up.
  4. If you are talented enough to play 2B athletically you are almost always talented e Pugh to do the stuff you are talking about to play 1B. Unless you are 5’5’’ tall in which case it’s a complete non starter and we don’t need to talk about, speculate or ponder any of those “high level of skills” you are talking about and we can say he can’t play 1B bed he’s a midget. You don’t need any reason beyond that even if they exist. Probably. Shoulder surgery. Marginal to begin with. He’s supposed to be good to go but I wouldn’t light a candle for him or anything.
  5. Altuve is bad at 2B, getting worse and signed for 4 more years. He can’t play dh because of Yordan. He’s too small for 1B. LF is the only thing that makes sense longterm.
  6. Dezenzo, whitcomb, Matthews, Melton and Cam are 5 decent chances at it. Just need 1 to break through. You can absolutely look at pedigree and performance for all of them and believe it to be possible. When you have 5 chances you would think it’s plausible that 1 should make it happen.
  7. Eh/ division title is most likely result. as I say every year when I write my annual I hate (love) mlb playoffs it really is a crapshoot man. Anything can happen.
  8. If Altuve is your full time LF Rogers mashes LHP and Guillerme is his platoon partner against RHP? Probably just Dana collecting more trash.
  9. I will bet you on this. I get $10 for every win over 90. You get $10 for every win under 85.
  10. Yeah it’s not a thing. I think last year less than 10k assumable loans were done. 4.06M homes were sold. If you consider something that’s 2/10’s of 1% of the market relevant that’s fine- it’s more a talking point than anything that matters in any real way.
  11. 90-92 wins with neutral luck. 100 of things break right with health and a couple rookies. 84 or so if we end up snakebit with injuries again.
  12. Episode 91 breathing orange fire up. Nonsense is front loaded for first 10 minutes then we talk Bregman, then catchers then pitchers. https://open.spotify.com/episode/3A0BZKQxfIV5M8W7cKeG9w?si=l-PaKF6RQ9uELDsQ-aV0kw
  13. Bennett until he didn’t then he won it all then he lost again. I’d put tournament record something like 1 in 5 of the importance of a coach. No coach knocks dow. 1 and 2 seeds every year and loses in the first and second round every year. Lute Olsen was a choking dog until he wasn’t. I’m sure there’s a bunch of other examples those just spring to the top of my mind. 35 games is a way better sample than somewhere between 1 and 6 games.
  14. Yeah but it’s a 1/2/3 year deal. All those guys that signed 10/300 would be making way more than 40M if they signed a 1/2/3 year deal.
  15. Sure. But even still you aren’t talking about a total and complete circus all the time. It’s a negligible difference and shouldn’t be dispositive. Same as bunting. It’s less bad in NCAA than in MLB because of the reason you said- but it still not great. my Buddy who is a d1 manager has completely shifted his view in the last 5 years. Hated strikeouts. Shrugs his shoulders now as long as the guy hits the ball hard, which is what his metrics and numbers say is the most important thing at the ncaa level, and hitting the ball hard and striking out is generally correlated.
  16. I mean- I knew it was a dumb decision at the time and it wouldn’t work out, but I also shrugged my shoulders and said “what are you going to do?” There was no way he wasn’t getting the job. I’m just glad it was a short deal with a small buyout.
  17. People that prefer college baseball over MLB or refused to get on the mlb bandwagon after they solved baseball (at least at that level) refuse to get rid of the paradigm they grew up with in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s. Most people hate change. hell- you are almost there but still got it wrong- as the strikeouts aren’t even really particularly all that important- he really just needs to get on base a shit ton.
  18. Any team that gets in the tournament can make the sweet 16. Happens all the time. Tournament success is awesome and makes me happy every time it happens. It’s also an absolutely horrific way to judge a coach because any team can make a sweet 16 (or get bounced early) there is just so much luck involved.
  19. Present day value on his contract is 32M. With taxes and stuff like that it’s only a slight upgrade at essentially 6/180. Comes with downside risk. Alex just wasn’t well that interested in being here. It’s his right. Bums me out a bit that he felt that way, but I’m not sad he didn’t sign with us for 6/160 or 165 or whatever our final offer was after they said they upped it a little bit.
  20. he’s so little. And didn’t do kick returns- but in the nfl with those goofy new kick rules that might help him.
  21. I think we missed out on Correa. I would have taken him on any of the deals he actually signed with the twins. His body not getting through a physical cost him 160M.
  22. He got a lot of deferred money. Present value is like 90M. he ain’t making much more money than if he’d have done the Astros deal. Maybe less.
  23. I’m going to be waaaaay more right than wrong. Not likely to get 16 but that was always way more possibility than probability. I’ve been calling for 13 plus since mid year and bet we get there. My final list: Quinn, Gunner, Blue, Majors, Banks, Williams, Connor, Bond, Golden, Broughton, Sorrell, Collins, Makuba, Barron, 14 be my guess. 25% chance or less: Gbenda, Holmes, Bolden. 15 with a little luck. edit to add- I didn’t see the combine list. Basically all my guesses hit the combine. Ha. Less people are invited to combine than are drafted so anyone invited would be more likely than not to be selected.
