  1. THe one thing that's comforting is that his K's didn't jump so his bat to ball is pretty similar but his walks went into free fall. I think it's a combo of him not being as feared and Yordan or Tucker being behind him so pitchers get after him.
  2. Keith law is a cunt. he told me that Hunter Brown would be lucky to be a 7th inning guy. And that Yordan was a fringe top 100 guy. He knows shit all about the Astros system. Fuck him.
  3. Business Employment Dynamics report in today. It's where they look at what was reported 12 months ago and then compare to what actually happened when they get the data in. The birth death model added 653,000 jobs. The actual figure was a loss of -163,000. Good job fella's good job. Net everything out and here's what happened: April 108k jobs reported should have actually been 51k May- 216k jobs reported should have been 159k reported June- 118k reported should have been 61k Total for the quarter: 442k reported, 271k actual. This was a fucking fiasco. Heads should roll. That's probably difference in 1/2 a point (at least) in mortgages if we were getting honest and accurate numbers then vs what was reported. By the way- inflation the numbers are wrong too. something like 40% of the inflation figure for shelter is owners equivalent rent. This is an absurd measurement of shelter costs. You basically ask someone who owns and lives in their house- "how much would you rent this place out for" and they sample that and average it out and get a figure. It has NOTHING to do with actual rental prices or the market- it's me asking yall to pull a number out of your ass and tell me what it would rent for. Last month- shelter was negative in the real world- but I bet we come in at 3.5% or something dumb like that. This one simple trick, getting honest and accurate numbers, would make a huge difference in where we are at right now. So frustrating and infuriating.
  4. I don’t think so, as I’ve got 2 scheduled to fund on Friday and no word directly about any problems with it, but it’s not that big a deal in all likelihood. Your lender funds the loan and eventually sells them to the VA a day, a week or a month or 3 months down the road. However long it takes them to bundle it and get it done and scrubbed and signed off on/ but it’s a normal course of bundles for them, and the market isn’t exactly smoking hot right now (ha- understatement alert). Now, if the freeze lasts too long the market could get illiquid I suppose, but I wouldn’t think that would happen for a good stretch of time.
  5. We are back. Talk money, explain how the luxury tax works because everyone gets it wrong online, talk Presley trade, Bregman coming back and why the OF doesn’t suck as bad as you think. https://open.spotify.com/episode/7IogKswzwBZ0qIkFSvJBYe?si=qjb4Q84MRsWQeibK9so8jw
  6. This would be my strategy if I was Jim Crane: I’d invite Alex out to lunch and talk about the good times we had together. Then, I’d tell him that I loved him. Then, I’d point out that I gave him an offer I was exceedingly uncomfortable with (more than 5 years) and nobody else had received. I’d tell him that if he can still play 6 years from now he would have my word that I’d take care of him with another extension so that he could retire as an Astro and only an Astro. I’d tell him that the offer wasn’t budging a single penny because that’s already higher than I’d ever gone before and he seems to not be going to get the 200M he wants anywhere. I’d end it with “hope you come back, that’s a lot to think about why don’t you sleep on it, talk to your wife and let me know tomorrow morning. Because the offer expires at 9:00 am and I’ve got to go get a couple OFers and finish building my roster before they were all gone. I’m not saying this would work, but if he wants Alex back and Alex wants to be back maybe it breaks through. If not you have certainty and move on to something else. Kind oflike Hakeem and Charlie Thomas heart to heart on the way to Japan when he was asking to be traded.
  7. Sure. And I think they should be willing to go up to 40M over (the money hit gets a little worse moving from tier 1 to tier 2 but you don’t get hit with any more competitive disadvantages like draft pick or the like) because it should be so easy to duck back under next year when you lose 57M in salary between Framber, Caratini, Jose Abreu and Montero. If you signed Bregman you would not have a single offensive guy leave in FA after the 25 season, almost no big arb raises exist, and you’d still have plenty of guys I project to be between average and awesome as starters for 26. Signing Bregman would mean this team either needs a Chas bounce back or one of Melton or Dezenzo to be a good bat and we are awesome offensively. Thats entirely plausible. Maybe we can get through the season without 3 Tommy John’s. That would be helpful.
  8. We were already like 2-6M under. Now we are 10-14 or something like that under. If Alex is coming back at 26 that would mean we have to trade Montero (11.5) and Caratini or something like that. And before anyone tells me that nobody wants Montero the answer to that is no fucking shit- but you could trade him to a team like the Marlins who have to spend some money to get to the salary floor necessary to collect their revenue sharing and attach 2 or 3 interesting prospects with it to make it worth their while. Also- since any team buying prospects from us by taking on Montero will likely suck they could trot him out there for 3 months- hope he pitches well and then becomes a guy they could move at the trade deadline. with how volatile relievers are stranger things have happened.
  9. Didn’t he blow a save in game 2 of the Detroit series before Hader came in and lost it? Or did he just give up insurance runs to make it the game out of reach before Hader did the same?
  10. I’ve got 79 people on my hot sheet for this year that I want to refinance if the market gets where I think it’s going. I’m ready for it.
  11. They did win it all. They were lucky to escape us in the WC round.
  12. It’s a free room, with no doubt that water and electricity will be there, with a casino giving out free drinks. How is that hard to understand?
  13. Again, there will be water and electricity there for sure. There will be no water (and maybe no power) at my house. I live on 6 acres in Huffman Texas and the power is always going out at my house. The chance of a tree limb freezing and taking out power lines is high.
  14. Oh no doubt. But the casino will have insulated pipes, generator and all the comforts of civilization I’m not positive I will have at home, especially when I shut my water off for 36 hours. rooms are free (2) for the humans- costs 150 to bring the two dogs, this is a no brainer for me.
  15. Where else has he sucked at USC and Washington I guess? He wasn’t bad (relative to the rest of the offense) in 21 with card and Thompson. My suspicion is if Baxter is healthy and with arch running the offense the problem solves itself, but if they want to bring a coaching specialist for that I won’t complain in the least.
  16. Do- this is what I’m doing. Turning off my well tonight. Emptying my pipes completely, going to Lake charles until Wednesday night. Turning back on my water Thursday morning when it’s above freezing. I don’t stay in town when weather events happen. No interest in being anywhere without a power grid.
  17. We call that Tuesday at my house.
  18. Alabraska, clap clap clap clap clap.
  19. It really is staggeringly stupid.
  20. There’s not the slightest chance that’s true.
  21. We were talking about money he left on the table for no reason this year.
  22. I mean- I think it’s like 15 or 20k a year per TE. Would you hang out with you for a mere 20k if you didn’t have to?
