  1. I get it...cue up the Blazing Saddles scene where you'll take anyone but the Irish.
  2. So now you have shown yourself to be a closet Pedo State fan...just keep digging that hole, dude.
  3. Is he related to Xavier? Asking for Katfid.
  4. But most NFL rosters aren't made up of non-4 and 5 star players. For casual pro football fans, college football is the minor leagues. Most of my NFL-only friends barely watch college football. What's the point when half the players on your favorite pro team come from schools you have barely heard of. California is already one of the main feeder states for NFL players (and not all of those who make the NFL leave the Pac) and still no one out West watches college football. College football fans watch their teams and the Pac has the lowest number of alums that are college football fans. Texas fans haven't moved on to only watch Bama or any other semi-pro SEC team, we watch Texas games. I haven't watched a Pac game in years, even if most of the best HS players went to the Pac I still wouldn't watch. If the Pac really made this move they would get killed. They lose all their connection to the rest of the country. That alone will likely steer a lot of blue-chippers away even if they could make money out West. I am also not sure what good investing corporate PR dollars in an 18-year-old LB from Pennsylvania will do for a company in California. Also no bowl games and no playoffs would knock off a large amount of the Pac's media revenue. I doubt they would get any immediate large gains on their T1/2 TV contracts until the networks see proof that their closed league actually has an audience. Probably should move the discussion over to the realignment fiction thread.
  5. With how much he spends on shitty clothing, rent-free sounds like just the thing. I wonder how he'll manage to carry his bride across the Surly threshold.
  6. Well now aggy has to take his commitment.
  7. What annoys me about the Texas HS coaches is that they hold Texas to this standard, but other schools come into our state with their bag men and memaws and other shady practices and the coaches lap up the attention and send their players OOS with their blessings. Texas does something as inane as too much OOS recruiting and some HS coaches start anonymously telling people that Texas is a bad guy for not signing more in state players. OK, maybe that was merely a reaction to our former head coach (who Katfid thinks is the spitting image of Michael Jordan), but let's see what happens if Herman again goes OOS for a big part of the class.
  8. Now imagine yourself in a post-Apocalyptic dystopia, then hell you live in makes much more sense.
  9. I imagine we take 2 and just go GT or JUCO again.
  10. So no LJH? I am guessing Chris Nelson will have to go the Poona route.
  11. Sam Ehlinger (and then Casey Thompson) will be the likely recipient of any additional carries we need. I think last season was one of the few in Herman's career as an HC or OC where the QB wasn't one of the top 2 rushers in yards. Sam was #2 in carries though.
  12. I believe it is the affinity for gifs of getting a load of choad in the mouth that gives it away.
  13. Completely believable. The rankings are a trailing trend. I looked at 5-star rankings a few years ago when someone noted that Texas didn't seem to have as many of them anymore. Texas and California regularly had between a quarter and a third of all 5-stars during the 2000s. (I think I only looked at Rivals as they were the only service that went back that far.) Then by 2011 with Mack failing and Carroll back in the NFL, the number of 5-stars suddenly dropped and now the two states usually don't even hit 20% of the 5-stars. It was almost like magic how the two most populous states stopped producing as many top HS football players and the Deep South magically rose up to fill the gap. I had intended to look down through their Top 250 as the sample size for 5-stars is too small.
  14. They're all buff milkman on the other side of the glory hole.
  15. I hope someone tweeted back that it was 3 JAGs Turner recruited and 4 guys recruited by Sherman.
  16. I wonder how long it will take him to understand how the TexAgs ranking actually work.
  17. The NCAA isn't some organization put on top of the universities by some outside power. It is an organization of their own creation. The fact that it sucks is at least in small part Texas's fault. Mizzou is part of the organization so if they want to bitch about their penalties they can also look in the mirror. The organization sucks in part because its membership doesn't want to harm itself with penalties. Mizzou's ban affects the rest of the SEC and the SEC's bowl partners. I am sure schools in the other conferences are just as squeamish about this, which is why we see the standards for punishment rise and fall like the tides. With Penn State, Baylor and UNC issues the pendulum has swung back towards harsher punishment and Baylor looks to be the only one of the three in line for the potentially harsher punishment. (Pretty convenient, no?!) The other issue that plagues the NCAA is the lack of subpoena power. Players are generally the only ones under scrutiny because the NCAA can dole out punishment knowing that few NCAA athletes have the means to lawyer up. When they do, penalties magically disappear. The Universities will never give up the power to govern themselves to some government agency that could compel testimony and evidence, so the NCAA sucks at enforcement largely by design.
  18. Here was the list from earlier with the names marked out. A lot of those no-shows weren't on this original list.
  19. Thanks. At least he has been in the program for a year. He may be short, but he looked pretty stout as a senior. If we needed him, I would hope it would only be in limited duty and not 20 carries a game!
