  1. We're not discussing the state of the GOP in the states that are the ones to worry about. Take a quick look at Michigan. Has she surrendered the office as leader of the party in the state? --- “Based upon its initial review, it appears to the Counsel’s office that Ms. Karamo was properly removed in accordance with the MI GOP bylaws,” read the letter, which was obtained by The Associated Press. While RNC members are expected to meet following a Jan. 30 winter meeting to make further recommendations, the dispute over the Michigan GOP chair position will likely play out in court in the months to come. -- Karamo, an election conspiracist who refused to accept the results of her 14 percentage point loss in the 2022 secretary of state race, has claimed the Jan. 6 vote to remove her as chair was “illegitimate” and “illegal.” She sent cease and desist letters last week to Hoekstra and other opponents alleging defamation of character and trademark infringement. https://apnews.com/article/kristina-karamo-michigan-republican-trump-88f8c427f97a39e71265bb70b883e2c1 so... definitely maybe. Meanwhile there is not a lotta money in the cash on hand. let's go see how it's going in Arizona “The release of our conversation by Lake confirms a disturbing tendency to exploit private interactions for personal gain and increases concerns about her habit of secretly recording personal and private conversations. This is obviously a concern given how much interaction she has with high profile people including President Trump,” DeWit said. “I question how effective a United States Senator can be when they cannot be trusted to engage in private and confidential conversations.” Arizona is poised to play a pivotal role in 2024 as one of the nation’s most competitive presidential battlegrounds, and with a key Senate race on the ballot, as well. https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/24/politics/arizona-republican-chairman-resigns-kari-lake/index.html Uhhh. That's great. Just great. I mean really it is if you want Joe and Ruben to win there. I saw two signs between Denton and Comanche about Trump. One was a gate that always has something political and the other is a cheesy billboard in Willow Park. "Born in New York but with Texas values" or equivalent bullshit. I did see a rando pickup with a rather faded shoe polish message of 'Joe Biden is ruining America' Not really catchy, but it's the sentiment that counts. This isn't 2016.
  2. Gonna drop this in here if anyone in the Austin area needs some fences built
  3. You might want to cross post in the landscape thread.
  4. Y'all think Joe is going to take Michigan for granted and not campaign there? Or where else did she not go visit? What about the specials since 22? How about 22? The Red Wave that wasn't. The news has to sell ad space. They want a race.
  5. Trump was live-posting his "responses" during Biden's speech last night. There were dozens and dozens of them minutes apart. When I was going through them this afternoon, I noticed that one post had far more engagement than any other - especially in the replies which were up to 4,380. That is a massive number of replies on Truth Social for a Trump tweet. When I read the replies, every single one was attacking Trump for the post, and every single one was a Trump supporter. Here is a representative sample ... https://www.meidastouch.com/news/trump-getting-destroyed-on-truth-social-over-his-vaccine-post Turbo cancer? Right. More made up bullshit
  6. Tell me the last part first. Oh Trixie! Pescadddddo! Tone Undefeated Edit: I like @Celery Man spelling better
  7. I'm guessing this is the default redistricting thread. There's some ongoing discussion in the SOTU thread spurred on by the existence of Troy Nehls. I have Ronny Jackson. I used to have Burgess, but he's going to be replaced with the SIL of Dinesh. Scott Armey tried, but it was epic fail. Denton got cracked. Lewisville the same. For the life of me I can't remember the fucker's name that drew the maps. One very nerdy guy that had it down to the street level. I don't know what the current status is on the court case. But, I'm not very optimistic about it. Some plaintiffs’ lawyers said the Supreme Court’s ruling would not change much of their approach to those claims, while others said the decision clarified the complex legal framework needed to prove a violation of Section 2. But they agreed that the court’s ruling dispatched some of the arguments states like Texas might look to in defending against their challenges. “One of the things that the majority did is it really refused to rewrite Section 2 along the lines of various arguments that defendants are raising across the country,” said Yurij Rudensky, who serves as a redistricting counsel for the Brennan Center for Justice and represents a group of plaintiffs in the Texas case. Like Alabama, Texas had argued in court that Section 2 does not apply to redistricting at all — an assertion the Supreme Court’s majority disagreed with explicitly in its decision. https://www.texastribune.org/2023/06/13/texas-redistricting-lawsuits/
  8. I can't remember the chubby older guy that did the work on our maps. He died not long after they were submitted. His daughter found the discussions on how to crack districts and where. Turned it all over to someone and well howdy nothing has happened. More flavor from last night
  9. I think you're confused. Or is that projection? Following a damning March 2021 Defense Department Inspector General’s (DODIG) report, in which allegations of Jackson’s inappropriate behavior while at the White House were substantiated, the Navy chose to demote him from rear admiral to captain in July 2022, a current defense official and a former U.S. official told the Post. The Hill
  10. You do realize that most of the money goes to contractors right here in America?
