  1. Also want to add that I voted for Bernie in the 2016 primary. I was a Buttigieg supporter in 2020, but voted for Bernie in the primary again because Pete dropped out of the race before Texas election. I would never support Pete if I believed he was a neoliberal shill. Y'all have just completely misread him because leftist media and politicians misread him.
  2. This is leftist brain rot. Here's what you and most on the left miss about Pete. He's generally agreeable with the policy ideas that come from the left. The difference is he wants to use pragmatism instead of the antagonistic revolution to sell it to the American people. He wants to sell these policies as practical and a benefit to everyone. You should read this long Politico article about Pete as Transportation Secretary. It's not a puff piece, there is plenty of criticism as he was growing into the job those first couple of years. But he listened to the concerns from the left and antitrust advocates, and made significant changes that were celebrated even by his biggest detractors. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/11/03/pete-buttigieg-tough-on-airlines-00181436 Psst, Pete is an ally for the left. He wants to get to the same place, he just believes in a different rhetoric and strategy to get there.
  3. It would be smart for Pete to eventually do a long interview with a popular lefty podcaster like Hasan or Sam Seder. Speak to the left directly instead of letting their media people push their negative spin on his narratives and ideas.
  4. I agree. My point is good ideas and policies matter more than checking the identity boxes. If there is a straight white male that can be a top candidate based on substance, I'm listening and willing to support.
  5. Here's gonna be my disconnect with the people who just want a "straight white male" to be the candidate. Yes, maybe it's an easier way to win the Presidency back and get Trump out of office. Maybe. But then what? The MAGA disease has already spread to every organ at this point in our country. A boring, safe, paint by numbers Presidency is not the cure. We tried that with Biden, it didn't work. We are going to need a reinvigorated Presidential administration that is extremely proactive with big and bold policies that they can push through ASAP. Basically, go big or go home.
  6. I'd recommend not just listening to leftists in the media space.
  7. This is all wrong and just bullshit talking points from the left.
  8. I think it would be very good for AOC, Pete, and 1-2 more TBD strong candidates to lead the 2028 primary. Pretty sure AOC and Pete have talked/met since 2020, and I don't think they hate each other. Which is good.
  9. Agreed. But I don't think we should preemptively ding any candidate for horseshit that was used in an ugly 2020 primary race. A lot has changed since then and we all need to be better and focus on real criticisms/issues.
  10. The McKinsey shit is/was so fucking stupid and was only an issue for the Bernie left. If anything, he should be celebrated for leaving after a couple of years to go back home and run for Indiana State Treasurer and lead a life in public service.
  11. Season 1, Episode 7: "Hank's Contract" Another classic episode. Hank is in contract negotiations with the network and is trying to play hardball. Artie and Larry think it's hilarious (knowing he would never leave the show) and continue to make fun of him. Hank gets pissed and it leads to some amazing moments and one-liners. Context for this scene: Earlier in the episode Artie and Larry laugh about the time Hank announced Winona Judd as "The Judd". And then the all-timer back tooth line. And we also get this great Robin Williams scene.
  12. Season 1, Episode 6: "The Flirt" Mimi Rogers is a guest on the show and basically wants to fuck Larry. Hank offers Larry the keys to his Malibu fuck pad, but Larry stays faithful to his wife in the end. I feel sorry for younger generations not getting to experience Mimi Rogers in her prime. That is a goddamned woman.
  13. It’s weird that many people basically say “fuck these stupid Trumpers” but are also very concerned about appeasing them with the next Dem nominee.
  14. Love this little minute clip of Rip Torn talking a bit about the show. How did they pick the name "Artie"? RT.
  15. Season 1, Episode 5 - "The New Producer" @henrygandorf and I were talking recently about how it doesn't take long for this show to find its stride, and I think this episode proves it. Artie has to take a couple weeks off after an appendectomy, and Larry hires another producer, Jonathan Lippman, to run the show while Artie recovers. Here is the whole episode on YouTube...the last half is just non-stop classic Artie and Hank. EDIT: Watching this again and tears are running down my face. 13:16 to 21:30 is just incredible. 8 straight minutes of genius writing and acting. This is the first of many classic episodes.
  16. Was there a working dishwasher in the house when she did inspections? Curious that she would need to buy and install a new one on a 5 year old house.
  17. Season 1, Episode 3: "The Spiders Episode". Goddamn, Carol Burnett is so fucking funny in this one. Her second delivery of "I saw your balls" is perfection.
  18. Yes! Melanie Parrish is great in Season 1, Episode 1. Artie continuously talking about killing her in Korea was a great gag. Maybe the best line in that episode is from Melanie Parrish. Larry is pissed and brings her into his office after she embarrasses him in front of his employees. Larry: If you were a guy, I'd take you outside and punch you in the face. Melanie: If you were a guy, I'd go!
  19. For any younger people on here or anyone that has never seen this show, I implore you to start watching if you have HBO Max. All of the episodes are available and it's very easy to binge watch. Here is my pitch to sell you on watching: - IMO, The Larry Sanders Show is the greatest sitcom of all-time. It's 6 seasons (shot from 1992-1998) that originally aired on HBO. It's a single camera show that is about a late night TV talk show and all the behind the scenes shenanigans. There is plenty of profanity and mature content, so no guardrails like a regular network TV sitcom. Most importantly, the show never falls off. It is great for all 6 seasons. It's set in present day (at the time) and lives in the real world where Leno, Letterman, and Conan are competition on other networks. - The regular cast is incredible, led by Garry Shandling (Larry Sanders), Rip Torn (Artie, Larry's show producer and best friend/confidante), and Jeffrey Tambor (Hank Kingsley, the Ed McMahon-ish sidekick). Artie and Hank are two of the best and funniest characters in TV history. - Because it's about a late night talk show, it has a very long list of famous actors, comedians, and musicians that are so fucking funny in their guest appearances. . I'm about to do a full re-watch, and will chime in about the episodes. I know there are plenty of other fans on here, please share your favorite lines/episodes.
  20. If I had to make a top 5 list of media people that need their ass kicked, Cillizza easily makes it.
  21. Cillizza is truly one of the biggest douchebags in the media. Like, worse than many Fox commentators.
