  1. Instead of fixing our roads and street lights and overall infrastructure, let's help out poor Cal & Hannah.
  2. While we've all generally greed that he's a symptom and not the cause, there is something very specific with Trump and the rise of social media and YouTube as news sources that has decimated people's brains. Without trying to get conspiratorial, it has organically and effectively become a psyop because right wing charlatans found a way to enrich themselves.
  3. Part of my continued interest in this case is seeing if any actual evidence against Baldoni comes out after the initial Lively complaint. I'm open to the facts. But that BlueSky tweet is so disingenuous (and false), I don't even know where to begin. Jacob Levy is a political science professor, why is he chiming in on this Hollywood drama with total BS? So strange.
  4. Do you think Trump stands or sits down when watching Elon artificially inseminate Melania?
  5. He books the guests and actively promotes these POS grifters and pseudo-intellectuals. No quarter. How many times have Eric and Bret Weinstein been on his show? 15 times? More?
  6. You can't spell Auschwitz without it.
  7. Trump, Musk, and Rogan. The three-headed monster of deeply insecure dipshits masquerading as Alphas who have poisoned the American psyche and ripped us apart. Embarrassing.
  8. Lively said the quiet part out loud, which makes it unique IMO. Admitting to the self described "rug pull" at a speaking engagement when it comes to creative control is stupid and shitty. And it definitely has something to do with the Baldoni case, at least in the court of public opinion. His lawyers have released texts that clearly show she was trying to hijack control of It Ends With Us. Now we have an older video where she admits that's her MO when being cast in films. I agree most of this stuff is clickbait, but that was actually a pertinent piece of info.

    LBGTQ

Just want to get this off my chest regarding a trans person I know. My ex's family unit when we were together was a stepfather, mother, sister, and 2 stepsisters. The stepfather was a successful exec who made a lot of money, and also spent a lot of money. One of the stepsisters is divorced and has a 10 year old son. They started transitioning to a trans man 4-5 years ago, let's call them Q. Everyone in that family has a transactional love with their stepfather(and each other, honestly). If he's generous with his money, they stick around and spend time together. When the money dried up after a forced retirement, they got mad and distanced themselves. It's gross. But Q was never like that. They worked hard and never depended on their dad's money. They disliked the family dynamic as well, and visit only during the holidays or birthdays, while purposefully living their own independent life. I haven't seen Q in a few years, but my 7 year old occasionally does. A couple of weeks ago my son said he saw Q and their son. He told me Q had grown a beard like mine and it was "weird". He didn't say it with any judgment, more just matter of fact in his mind. That was a good time for me to talk to him about it, that Q was doing what felt right to them to live their life to the fullest. That it's a positive situation. That Q's son is good and kind and loves their parent, which he agreed with as they are friends and "cousins". My son absorbed it and we moved on. On the surface, the stepfather, mother, ex, sister, and other stepsister seem "normal" and "presentable" to everyone else. But all of them are deeply flawed and unhappy people. The one normal, respectable, mature, confident, and grounded person in that family is Q. I have immense respect for them.
  11. I thought you were joking here. I'd argue that Pete's CV is a positive. Dude did the classic Harvard to McKinsey route, after a few years realized he hated it, then went home and ran for Indiana State Treasurer before running for Mayor of his hometown. He has dedicated his career to public service when it's very clear he could've easily made many, many millions in the corporate world.
  12. Sometimes, the algorithm works well. This brilliant YouTube account "The Elephant Graveyard" does takedowns of Rogan and his merry band of dipshit comedians in Austin. It's strange and awesome and incredibly funny. Art.
  13. Yeah, Kjersti Flaa, along with probably 8-10 other YouTubers, are going all in on this drama with multiple daily videos. Simply because it brings them a lot of views/subscribers, and they are making $$$. I don't think they are being disingenuous with their thoughts and opinions, but hard not to by cynical about the constant stream of "updates". This is the world we live in now. Create online content, take full advantage when you hit on something big.
  14. My first reaction to this was to roll my eyes, even as a Buttigieg fan and supporter. But his temperament and speaking ability is unmatched right now within the Democratic Party, and some sort of consistent appearance in front of a camera is probably a good idea. It won't come off as hysterical or insincere when Pete is explaining the damage already caused by Trump/Musk/GOP. We need a voice of reason.
  15. Just uploaded this gif on to Surly for future use on this thread.
  16. Shit, even "America" is too ethnic. Are we gonna continue to name this place after a goddamn i-talian? Whiteland? Christland? Nah, Jesus was a Jew. Fuck that. Whiteland.
  17. Hearing “Big Sir” and “Bering Straight” are next.
  18. Good point. Does Gulf of Mexico trigger these betas? Now we have to change identities of bodies of waters to appease a bunch of snowflakes?
  19. Captain of that carrier ship will probably get a medal or promotion.
