  1. Also, industry standards do not negate the law.
  2. Why are you so hell bent on defending Baldwin over this? He fucked up and someone died because of it. I’m not sure that he should go to jail because of that but he damn sure should have to sit there and let a jury decide his fate after reviewing all pertinent information.
  3. Just because they are the standard Hollywood procedures doesn’t make them right. It also shouldn’t absolve him of any criminal charges. If you are given a gun and told to fire that gun in the direction of someone else then you are personally responsible for the consequences. If you choose to not personally inspect the gun and what’s loaded into the gun yourself before pulling the trigger that is your fault. Then you take in to account that Baldwin was the most powerful person on that set. There had already been misfires. Baldwin was a producer and not just in name only. The production was supposedly cutting corners with safety protocols. Baldwin could have shut down production and fixed all safety issues had he wanted to. Even if you ignore the rumors that Baldwin was goofing around with the gun or was just practicing his draw he is still 100% at fault for the death of another human being. There’s no argument to be made there. He’s guilty in two ways, both by pulling the trigger and by establishing an environment in which safety protocols were not strictly adhered to. I don’t think he meant to kill her but he still did. He needs to face the consequences for his actions.
  4. Seriously, I don’t want them to know my porn fetishes.
  5. Could it be that he wasn’t charged because of firing the gun but instead because of being the cause of the supposedly poor work conditions on set which led to the chaos and thus the incident?
  6. It’s rarely a good thing when true freshmen are already transferring.
  7. All I’m saying is stop being a bitch.
  8. We’re talking embarrassing to the University, not on an individual level. Literally every business, school, or entity that is medium size or above (most small ones too) has an employee arrested for some shit like DV at some point in its existence. That doesn’t reflect badly on the organization but on the employee themself. The only way it would reflect badly on the organization is if they handled it in an improper manner such as covering it up. Texas did not do that In the least bit. They handled it with the utmost class and professionalism.
  9. The loss to ACU was more embarrassing to the University of Texas basketball program than anything Chris Beard has ever done. Beard’s actions are embarrassing for Chris Beard but not Texas basketball. You can’t find a single rationale person who doesn’t believe that the University handled the Beard situation as well as could be done. Most people applaud the University for having morals and doing what needed to be done, wins be damned.
  10. I’d bet that the Ames delivery driver thought that he could call out UT without anyone from Texas responding. If it had worked then he likely gets a lot of sympathy and rakes in money from ISU and other fan bases on Venmo to make up for big bad Texas.
  11. The Mitchell undercut is a play that would be an automatic suspension in the NBA. Unfortunately the NCAA doesn’t suspend players instead leaving it up to the schools.
  12. We sell sponsorship banners to go on the outfield fence at $300 a banner. I will likely get at least 25 banners this season. I figure out what I want to raffle, then budget to buy those at regular cost coming out of banner money, then ask the store if they can donate or help out. Typically the store at least gives me a big discount 30-40% off up to just donating it to the league. Then I get the kids to sell the raffle tickets and have the drawing on opening day.
  13. The percentage of people charged with possession of child pornography but not found guilty has to be really low. When you add on the intent to distribute it has to be close to zero. Maybe I’m being as naive as the OP but it seems like the LEO would not arrest and file charges without the case being a slam dunk. If OP’s friends story was true and he just clicked on a random link in an unsolicited email then immediately closed the site with no other occurrences it would be near impossible to get a jury to convict. The prosecutors would not waste the time and money on those type cases.
  14. @Clarence Worley what did you do to help your friend achieve his dreams? You mentioned having helped him in some way but didn’t say what you did.
  15. @Clarence Worley this is not easy to do but is necessary, I know from experience and have major regrets, but you need to really check on the mental health of your friend. Make sure that he does not have access to any guns. Make sure there are no ways he can harm himself. Don’t just ask him about his mental health but really look into it. Get his wife involved. Do it even if you don’t think it is necessary.
  16. You would think that the case would all hinge on what the email said and then how long the guy spent on the website. If the email said “Click here to see naked underage girls/boys!” or if he stayed on the site for 30 minutes after clicking then he is properly fucked. If the forensics show a random link and that he was on the site for just one minute then he will be fine. As someone who has recently gone through something similar with a friend (it’s all in a thread around here) I can almost guarantee you that your friend is not being 100% truthful. You just hope that he’s lying about what the link said and not whether he is a frequent viewer of said stuff. For instance if he clicked on a link for “young girls” and then immediately got off the site when he saw they were underage then that’s ok but he would still be lying about the not knowing what he was clicking on.
  17. Only thing he can do is to hire a great lawyer and let them do their work. They should be able to get the details of the case. Seems like if it was a sting operation, which clearly seems to be the case if your friend is telling the truth, that the authorities should have access to exactly what he clicked on and how long he views the content. That info would be vital to his case.
  18. I tried to do this but your mom had already bought all of the stores out.
  19. I’m going to do a raffle to fundraise for the little league baseball organization that I run this year. I did it last year and it went well so am doing it again. I prefer a raffle as I don’t have to buy and manage a bunch of products for kids to run around trying to sell. We did a raffle last year and our prizes were: 1st prize - $300 rolling Igloo ice chest, $100 Academy gift card, and $100 Specs gift card 2nd prize - $150 Yeti cooler bag, $50 Academy gift card and $50 Specs gift card 3rd prize - custom made wood baseball bat I will do the baseball bat again for the 3rd prize but need ideas for the first two prizes. Would like to keep the value around the same if possible but can go up if needed for a good prize. Bonus if the prize relates to baseball. I’ve considered a smoker or grill for the top prize, especially if I can get a store to give me a great deal on one. I need more ideas though. Any help is much appreciated.
  20. I liked it but I also never read the books. It’s just your typical action show. Of course it’s embellished and outlandish, all action shows/movies are. It’s great entertainment if you stop trying to nitpick every detail and just enjoy it for what it is.
  21. Your mom pursues depth in her portal.
  22. I disagree and think it is OSU. They have lost almost everyone who was worthwhile, including their 4 year starting QB. They have gone from being a middle of the pack team to dogshit. aggy at least has managed to keep most starters even if they are losing young depth.
  23. Dumb question amnesty: I know the portal deadline is on January 18th but what exactly is that the deadline for? Do players have to request to enter the portal by then? Actually be in the portal after the 48 hour window? Have found a new home?
  24. Thankfully no. This is her first issue with a vehicle. I’m sure mor are to come.
