I think everyone understands that we are playing with a bunch of JAGs right now. That's not necessarily on Pierce. The problem is that those JAGs continue to get worse, every last one of them. No one is improving on or even maintaining their production. That includes defensively. Hell just from experience some should be getting better.
We actually have a pretty damn good pitching staff. They just look like shit this year. Elder, Henley, Quintanilla, Fields, Diaz, Stevens, Cobb and Madden all have the talent and stuff to be really good college pitchers. For most of them it seems like they are complete head cases this year. I think a lot of the problem here is how Pierce has handled the staff this year. Pitchers need consistency. Relievers need to know that their coach trusts them even if they have a bad outing. The pitchers aren't getting any of that. Just look at our midweek ineptitude, you can credit a lot of the pifching issues there to a lack of using a consistent starter and bullpen plan.
