  1. Did the 49ers go further in the post season with him than they otherwise would have?
  2. Well obviously. West Virginia has the best Oline in the country.
  3. Which begs the question of why isn’t HBP included in WHIP? It’s the same impact as a walk except you aren’t walking on 0-2 or 1-2.
  4. Yet his walks/IP was 3rd best on the team. No wild pitches. He hit a lot of dudes. You gotta like that strategy. Put the fear into the next dude of watching his earhole. It does not appear as though MSUs pitching coach had any magic. Still surprising he wasn’t drafted. I’m not sure if I should say to hell with him or I hope he has a successful career.
  5. I’d go error on a ground ball cause the out was there for the taking.
  6. That narrative the broadcast crew threw out in the Super of him not playing RF was odd. First, many a two way player played in the field and still pitched. Second, he only pitched 2.1 innings in the regional. A regional in which they had to come out of the losers bracket. One appearance. Dugan had two appearances in that regional, both of 3+ innings as a comparison. Then against us, he never pitched including game 3 when they were squeezing every last pitch out of their most dependable guys. If he can throw high 90s, tell him what he wants to hear and give him a shot. If we get 15-20 good innings, that’s a bonus. If he’s deadset on being a two way player, he’ll never meet his max ability at either. You have to wonder how much effort needs to go into the pitching side of things to be effective and does that result in a setback of offensive production. Get him in and let’s find out.
  7. I know they were discussing the record after 6 the other day but can’t remember the numbers. But we’ve matched that win total since the all star break. Is that correct?
  8. You were on his trivia team weren’t you?
  9. Don’t remember ever doing bull in the ring.
  10. Maybe Woody is just more likeable. The name alone sounds more approachable.
  11. Maybe a season momentum building series.
  12. Hey now, I don’t twitter. I don’t mind throwing out some internet threats. Might even throw out some in person, but they won’t go beyond whipping some ass and into this territory. It is sobering when I think I’m old enough, and then some, to be his dad. Damn. There is a considerable amount of bitchass on this site and I ain’t apologizing for jabbin back at anyone or highlighting the positives for any player. For all outward appearances our dudes play hard and are good teammates. That’s what I ask. For Texas baseball, I take it as a given they have talent or they wouldn’t be here. Beyond that, it’s the coaches job to put them in position to find success. As for next year, I hope Sthele comes back and gets half the board shitting their pants. Either way, we’re positioned to return to Omaha. Play big at the big moments. Imo.
  13. Regarding discussion on Galvans D, I recall hearing that the C on his knee is teaching point these days to help the pitcher keep the ball down. I know there was discussion on that earlier this season. I’m not a fan of that, but it’s less concerning than his receiving and blocking/catching those he should. It still is a thing that you can live with offensive holes at either C, SS, or CF. You just can’t have holes at all 3. Maybe not even 2. The truth is mediocre seasons can be had if they heat up come the post season. With the abilities of this team, we could likely live with a mediocre hitter at C. Galvan can likely give enough offense, but he can’t be a liability defensively.
  14. Any players kicked off? I’ve heard no mention of that.
  15. I’d be curious to see the numbers of our DH. I’m not sure it was that bad. Flores horrible average was largely due to his non-DH games. Maybe the stats say differently, but that’s my recollection. Much of Galvans work was at C with GG DHIng there. Carlson was doing fine until he got hurt. Mind you, I’m not saying DH was good or average.
  16. I’m here all year bro.
  17. Ain’t gonna matter. Too stacked.
  18. Has anyone seen @HenryJames and DDA in the same place at the same time?
  19. 10 starts out of the first 12 or so with 4 hits and two walks is a pretty long leash. That’s 50% more plate appearances then Belyeu had on the season. There’s nothing comparable about their seasons/opportunities. Just as a counter to Flores, Powell was 7-22 in his first two seasons. 5 XBHs. So he got a whole 8 ABs the next season. This season. 1 start in the first 8 games. I can’t recall such a poor statistical freshman season with that many ABs as Flores. He had a few big moments and a huge one against Miami. The HR versus OSU was nice. I look forward to big things from Flores and think he’ll better for it.
  20. Why wouldn’t this be a concern for Belyeu? He was well thought of too. I realize discussions happen and there could have been very different discussions regarding playing time. Flores had a long leash from the beginning. I don’t think Galvan had many DH opportunities as GG would DH to allow Galvan to play C. Carlson was doing well at DH until he got hurt. Belyeu only had 5 games with multiple ABs. Never had more than 3 in a game. Was 4-11 when getting multiple ABs. His usage was odd.
  21. We had one guy we couldn’t lose. Not a big guy at that. A play that virtually guarantees a hit on your QB and the one guy you can’t lose. So no, it was not a safe play. It was not anywhere not amongst our best plays in the playbook either. And you’re correct he was going left which probably exposed his throwing shoulder more. So even if he’s not hurt on the play, you still don’t want a shot on that shoulder. But hey if it works well, we get 7-8 yards. We didn’t have many others that could have done that. We’re not great at running the play equals little reward. Guaranteed hit on your QB equals high risk.
  22. Might never have happened had we not resorted to calling a play with little reward and massive risk. I believe that would have been Davis. If Colt finishes the game, we win and there’s no need change offensive philosophy.
  23. Are you saying that LSU over Texas should be a certainty? Both are strong enough options that it’s the variables in that particular kid that make one the better option. And that answer is different depending on the kid.
