  1. Really hard to predict how a Boise coach will do elsewhere. He won a lot of games there, but so did Dan Hawkins. And as good as they've been, they've clearly declined since Peterson's tenure. The chances of us hiring him were slim to none to begin with, but I'm glad he's off the board tbh.
  2. Fuck it, keep Ash then. But I don't remember Muschamp leaving on bad terms. We gave him the HCIW title, which was fucking stupid, but probably helped him land the Florida job.
  3. Agree. Campbell has shown he can evaluate and develop lunch pale types. He's also had some wtf losses/near losses, and tends to play up/down to the competition. Sound familiar? He'd probably get us an extra win each year just by avoiding bonehead 4th down decisions, but I don't think he's that much of an upgrade. I'm at the point where if we can't get Urban, just give Jeff Traylor an Orgeron contract and money whip Chad Morris and Muschamp. I feel like that has a higher ceiling than any of our other options.
  4. Further proof that bowl games are meaningless
  5. Shouldn't even accept the trophy if that happens (it won't though).
  6. We beat USF and KU, but probably split LSU and the bowl game. You can't just pencil in wins for a Herman-coached team. So we likely finish 9-4. Still not good enough with the experience we had on the roster and the conference being down. This was the year to make a run--Tom Herman himself said as much.
  7. Which is exactly what we wouldn't be doing with Traylor. I don't know if he's the best guy out there, but I'm willing to try something outside the box at this point, rather than just hiring the flavor of the month again and hoping this time is different.
  8. Yeah we need to just hire the hottest name. Who cares if they're not a good fit, have no ties to Texas, or have a shit personality... just hire the hottest name--it never fails us. Oh and they need several years of HC experience... fuck what Clemson, tOSU, and OU say. #WeAreTexas Btw, I doubt we'll give him a serious look, so you don't have much to worry about. We'll get Matt Campbell or Luke Fickell and ride off into the sunset.
  9. Traylor was Strong's recruiting ace. Overall, I think our current staff is pretty solid, especially on defense. He could make a couple tweaks (jettison Hand, bring back Samples and another rainmaker or two), and it would be an instant upgrade. But I don't think the UT admin would ever buy off on it.
  10. Today's recruits weren't alive the last time Nebraska was relevant. They're like Texas, minus the recruiting hotbed. Yet they still have the same expectations. I'll admit it's a step up from ISU, but it's not an attractive job.
  11. His chances of winning an NC at Nebraska are no better than at ISU (around 0.0001%). Money would be the only reason to move.
  12. I could see Traylor coming in and leaving much of the staff intact (besides hiring Samples, switching out Hand with literally anyone, and maybe bringing in a couple other rainmakers), fixing recruiting, and going on a tear. But instead we'll probably hire a bad fit like Matt Campbell, start all over from square one, and find ourselves in the same position 4 years from now.
  13. We lost to TCU, OU, and should've lost to Tech before there were any "horrible leaks" regarding Meyer. What are you talking about?
  14. It's the BMDs bro. That's why Tom went for it on 4th down.
  15. You think other teams don't have $9.95ers? The program is perceived as dysfunctional because we aren't winning, despite our resources. The reason for this is because Tom Herman is a mediocre coach. Fix that problem, and all the "dysfunction" magically disappears.
  16. The only place I could maybe see him going is USC. It's a better job than Texas. Better history and no other blue bloods within 1500 miles. It's probably the easiest place to win in the country. So what's your point? We should cancel football because the Texas job is a tier below USC? It sounds like you're the one who can't accept Texas' standing in the hierarchy.
  17. Holy shit you're a beating. Urban doesn't want to coach. It is what it is. Onto the next one.
  18. Fuck it, I'm in. What do we have to lose? Traylor 2021.
  19. He loses games despite a huge talent discrepancy. His only success as a HC came with Herbert at QB. His 3 years at Oregon look a lot like Tom's first 3 here. Recruits will look elsewhere if the losses keep piling up. Been there, done that.
  20. What kind of organizational skills does he have? Will he hire the best coordinators and assistants available? Can he put together a support staff from the ground up? I like the guy and I'm happy for his success, but we need someone can completely rebuild the infrastructure of the program. Maybe he has that skillset, but it's a stretch to draw that conclusion based off of a 7-4 record at UTSA.
  21. It wasn't too long ago that Herman was pulling top 5 classes.. then recruits saw the product on the field and said thanks but no thanks. Cristobal is about a year behind Tom on that timeline.
  22. Calm down little buddy. It is what it is. Time to move on.
  23. Or maybe he just said no.
  24. But lost to Stanford, Washington State, Arizona, Utah, and Arizona State.
