  1. The CFB landscape is ever changing. No one would've predicted Clemson would be a powerhouse 10 years ago. Historically, they were basically an Arkansas level program, so a lot can change. If the population continues to shift south and west, a team like Arizona State (just throwing them out there as an example) could become a contender. Oregon already is one. And as much as we hate to say it, aggie has the resources (which has always been the case, and they've always managed to aggie it up). Michigan and Penn State are both within proximity of several major (but shrinking) population centers, and they have big followings on the east coast. They still have a chance, but it's a more difficult path. I will agree that Nebraska is done; no one outside of flyover country gives a fuck about them.
  2. I think if you let him lock himself in a dark room and just focus on X's and O's he could still be a great OC. It's hard to fathom that he's forgotten everything he ever knew about football. And it seems like the type of hire Saban would make.
  3. Cristobal is the closest thing. He was Bama's recruiting coordinator from 2013-2016, so he fully understands the ins and outs of "the game." He was also a great OL coach, so he knows how to evaluate and develop that position, which is arguably the biggest key to success in CFB. The problem is he's only had 2 good seasons (will probably be 3 after this year), and he may not even want to leave Oregon with the way he's recruiting.

  5. Well they are like the 12th best program in the SEC, which equates to about 4th best in the country.
  6. Michigan's in-state talent isn't great, but they at least have some, unlike Nebraska. They also have better access to Ohio, PA, and the east coast. The only population center in the vicinity of Nebraska is Kansas City with just over 2 million, roughly the size of San Antonio. Michigan obviously has elite academics, which most 5 stars don't really care about, but there is a subset of recruits who take it into account. I don't think either job is great, but Michigan actually has some things to work with. Nebraska has nothing besides history, which is probably the least important to 17 year-olds.
  7. I hate to say it, but if we can't get Urban Meyer, then we need to be really careful. There is no point in replacing Tom Herman with another Tom Herman or a Charlie Strong. In my thinking, there is only one man on the list, and his name is Urban Meyer. The truth is there are only a handful of elite coaches in the country. Cristobal appears to have Oregon back on track and recruits like a motherfucker, but I'd like to see him do it for another year or two. Matt Campbell has produced roughly the same results as Herman with far less resources, but he's never proven he can be elite (and probably never will at ISU). Franklin and Fleck are not worth making a change for. I can't see us going the G5 route again with Fickell. I think it's Herman or Urban next season.

  10. I've wanted Cristobal (after Urban) from the beginning. But would he even come here with the re$ources he has at Oregon?
  11. We still looked like shit for the most part. OL still sucks, receivers still suck, corners still suck. Had OSU taken care of the ball they would've beaten us by 3 scores. We may win this shitty conference after all (probably not though), but we'll never be elite under Herman. 4 years in and we don't look any better than we did in 2017.
  12. Yeah, a 4 year starter isn't enough to beat the likes of Max Duggan and Spencer Rattler; only the best QB in the country could pull that off.
  13. There is no other option. The program is teetering right now. If we miss on this hire, we're fucked for another decade. Possibly for good.
  14. Cristobal, assuming his entire "operation" comes with him.
  15. Seriously. A 6 page thread because a teenager changed some pictures on social media? If you're reading this Jake (hopefully you're not), this is the extreme fringe of the fanbase. Most of us want to see you and the team play well.. just hold onto the ball.
  16. Fuck off with the puritan bullshit.
  17. Herman lost me today. I really thought he was the guy when we hired him. Even after losing to Maryland twice, going 8-5 in a season in which we were supposed to contend for the conference/playoffs, and last week's shitstorm, I still held out hope. Wishful thinking on my part. At this point, it's painfully obvious that he's at best an average coach. There are just too many data points to ignore. If the higher ups actually give a shit about winning, we'll cut bait and hire Urban.
  18. The fact that they felt they had to run hurry up in order to get into the end zone on 1st and goal from the 1 says it all. Pitiful.
  19. They were getting pretty good pressure most of the game. It's hard to get sacks when the QB can immediately throw to an open WR.
  20. So you're saying we need to hire Louisiana's DC?
  21. Damn.
  22. We're vulnerable up the seam. It was noticeable even against UTEP. Needs to get fixed fast.
  23. The best was "It was just his heel that was out of bounds!"
  24. One of, if not the best, games we'll see this season, and they're just completely dejected.
