  1. I wouldn't expect a guy who got beaten by computers to understand 5D chess.
  2. It must feel nice to cheat out of doors again.
  3. Fuck you Trump for making Jeff Sessions seem like the good guy.
  4. Until recently I really didn't appreciate what we lost with Layne Staley.
  5. This Frenchman was my wife's college prof. He taught fencing but apparently was handy with blades of all sizes. I believe they were having an affair (with the victim, not my wife - or so she says) and the vic wanted to break it off. Drama Professor Charged in Stabbing Death of Actress HOUSTON (AP) _ A university drama professor stabbed an actress to death in a park, then turned the knife on himself, police said. Claude Caux, 57, a drama professor at the University of Houston, was in poor condition today at Ben Taub Hospital, suffering from several self- inflicted stab wounds to the abdomen. He was charged late Monday with murder. Police said Caux stabbed 45-year-old Mary Avey Chovanetz several times Monday afternoon at Memorial Park in west Houston. As passers-by ran to help the dying woman, Caux ″was walking around hollering and acting crazy. People were trying to stay away from him,″ Homicide Sgt. A.J. Toepoel said. At one point, Caux told the crowd to ″please let us die,″ Toepoel said. Ms. Chovanetz had performed at several area theaters. Caux, in addition to teaching, has assisted in staging at the Houston Ballet, in operas and at a local Shakespeare Festival. Toepoel said police don’t know what the motive was. He said the two had known each other for several years.
  6. Next up on OAN: asking when Obama stopped beating his wife.
  7. Tell me about it. My attempts at a Burmese tiger trap have been laughably amateurish.
  8. Is there a source out there that converts the popular vote polls to a more electoral collegey-oriented metric? Winning the popularity contest is nice and all but as we're well aware its relevance is overstated.
  9. It's not that Trump's not religious enough. He's not religious at all. And frankly I don't care about his actual religious beliefs, except for the considerable network of nitwits who insist on his godliness. Such claims should be an affront to those with sacred religious beliefs.
  10. Seems like an ideal time to replace the CDC Director with a lackey. Is the My Pillow guy available?
  11. Statistically speaking, that order and combination of words was eventually going be used by someone on earth. I just didn't expect to witness it personally.
  12. That's the easy part. What is one's civic duty if Trump wins via fraud?
  13. Are there pass catchers who don't pluck the ball out of the air? If there are, why do you call them pass catchers?
  14. I can't emphasize enough the importance of enjoying humor in hard times, for me anyway. I've laughed at cancer and covid. I will laugh at a meteor if it ever shows its stupid face around here. Were the Jewish people a comic font despite their great suffering or because of it? I find that when I'm able to step back from the moment and observe it rather than being a terrified passenger for the whole ride, life's ubiquitous humor and absurdity almost invariably presents itself. This exercise of stepping back has intrinsic value IMO.
  15. Hackers released a tease on this. Apparently Rod Stewart had his stomach pumped because it was full of semen. Lucky for Rod he's not Lady Gaga-famous anymore or this would be a bigger story.
  16. It's actually a fairly progressive stance for Republicans. Opposing Ru Paul on the basis of abortion is a marked improvement from the social conservative condemnation of GLBT people.. Pat yourself on your backs Rs.
  17. That's tremendously awful. Really well staged or just lucky: the kids afoot, the people ranting behind your back as you walk away, the Fake News buzzwords hanging in the air. I'm not convinced it wasn't some dystopian fiction. Or maybe we're living in one and I can't tell the difference anymore.
  18. For a conspicuously patriotic network they sure do undermine unity in the United States. Every fucking hour of programming stokes resentment and fear. Forget coronavirus, Fox is a plague. It infected the airwaves post-Fairness Doctrine and there's no herd immunity. When it's all told I wonder what the body count will be for Covid vs that of a propaganda tool that fomented war in Iraq and provided cover for Trump & Co.
  19. Even worse, he may be re-elected. We're digging our own graves with a Trump brand shovel.
  20. I'm sad to hear about this one. Shady Grove was never fine dining but it was reasonably priced, consistently good, and kid friendlier than a Raydog post. I've been gone from Austin for years but still think about the Green Chile fries. RIP Shady Grove
