  1. I've hated the Celtics going back to the 70s when the ABA/Spurs merged with the NBA. Red Auerbach continually talked shit about the ABA -- that coaches were bad, the players weren't good enough to play in the NBA, that Julius Erving was a nice kid but not a great player, and that the ball belonged on the end of a seal's nose. And then of course, post-merger the ABA players dominated. Then they backdoored their way into Larry Bird and continually fleeced dumb GMs in trades.
  2. Indy going to kick themselves for this one. Huge choke.
  3. I give Indiana a better chance in this series than most. Their pace (no pun) is weird for Boston. The Celtics get over reliant on the three point shot. Indiana will push it. Boston wants to play fast but nobody wants to play faster than Indiana. Boston is going to have to slow it down and it just ain’t their thing.
  4. I could be talked into Sarr, but I'm not giving Atlanta any of its draft capital back to move up three spots for him. Clingan is a hard no for me. The last thing they need is another big clogging up the paint for Victor. They can find a big in free agency who can suck up some minutes and take some fouls. I haven't watched that much of Salaun, but he looks very stiff to me. Not a fan, and he seems like a massive reach at 8. I can talk myself into just about any of the top 10 or so prospects in this draft, but he is the one that I would be outright disappointed about the Spurs picking.
  5. I think it's less about piling on when he got knocked off the throne and more about piling on after watching his reaction to being knocked off the throne. And he did look like a fool in the parade last year. I don't think he's any sort of villain. He just comes off as bush league. Not that a Spurs fan like me has any room to talk as horribly as Pop has treated the press over the years.
  6. Everything he gets is off of Jokic/Murray or somebody else. He can't create his own shot and they don't run any actions for him, which is weird for such a knock down shooter. Why aren't they running him off of 10 different screens and pin downs at least every once in a while to mix things up? I suppose the Jokic/Murray combo is so good that they don't have to much, but it wouldn't hurt them to be more diverse on offense. Having a secondary creator like Bruce Brown last year made them much more difficult to defend. They've become more and more Jokic-centric, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it seems that they could open up a lot more by being less predictable. The jackass is strong in Mike Malone. His bit at the parade last year was awkward. I felt a little embarrassed for the guy. I don't necessarily want coaches who are robots and act "classy" all the time, but it just seems like there is an unjustified pettiness to him that is unsettling for someone who has had every advantage possible moving into and up in the coaching ranks.
  7. I wouldn’t do that trade. I don’t know if there is much difference between 1 and 8 in this draft and Sarr is duplicative to a lot of what Wemby does. Plus there is a bigger cap hit. Looking at the west, the Spurs are going to have to deal with Ant, Luka and SGA for the foreseeable future. Assuming Risarcher is gone, I’m thinking Castle makes sense at 4 as a point of attack defender and connective piece. Even if he ends up not being a point guard, he can play on the wing. Dillingham will still probably be there at 8.
  8. I’m still in shock. Great win for the wolves. Horrific brutal choke by Denver. They are going to kick themselves all summer for this entire series and especially tonight. That stretch in the third quarter, they acted like the game was over. One lazy possession after another. Then second chance points killed them down the stretch and when Gobert is throwing in 17 foot turnarounds to beat the clock, it may just not be your night. Conference finals are going to be interesting. Both teams present such different problems than each faced in the previous round. I think I like Minnesota's chances.
  9. Brunson fractured hand. The Knicks were done before that, but that should make it official. Still, great run for them. Much respect. They would be a bitch of an out at full strength.
  10. Is the okc coach getting shit for challenging that foul? That wasn’t going to get overturned and that was their last timeout. 2.5 seconds is a lot of time.
  11. Quite a bit if we're being honest.
  12. Denver clearly thought this series was over. They are some switch flipping motherfuckers for sure. They went into this game with zero appropriate fear and all the intensity of a mid December game against the pistons. I’m sure they will run Minnesota in game 7 at home but you play with fire enough you’re going to get burned. They still got a wide open three on that. He’s going to kill you one way or the other.
  13. After the game, Draymond commented on OKC's offense being too iso heavy with the only action being SGA and Williams screening for each other and how it gets easier to defend in a series, and I remembered I posted something similar back in March. On the rare occasions that I turn out to be prescient, I am damn sure going to remind everybody of it. And then I saw the rest of the post and I think Sam Presti should have hired me as a consultant.
  14. Corpse of the cavs season still warm and this JB Bickerstaff hit piece comes out. Lol he’s toast
  15. I think their contract runs through next season. And they haven’t lost the NBA yet. They just don’t have exclusive negotiating rights. But it ain’t looking good.
  16. No words for Jokic last night. An all time performance from an all time great. But Minnesota without Conley was completely constipated on offense. Edwards was consistently doubled off every screen. They put Jokic in the action and he doesn’t even look at Rudy. He just sags and makes Edwards take a tough shot or pass to someone who can’t shoot. Gobert is such a non factor on that end and the only guy who can spread the floor is KAT. And he was his typical non assertive, can’t post up a smaller guy, self. Reid was in foul trouble. It’s not an accident when McDaniels is wide ass open at the three point line. I would try benching Gobert and going small with Reid. They can’t stop Jokic with Gobert, they might as well try to make him work on defense and make him move to expend some energy. I don’t think it matters though. He’s just too great.
  17. There's more to it than just Lebron flexing. Klutch has become one of the most influential agencies in the league. Nobody has leveraged their relationships more than them to get clients overpaid. If they can get someone to select Bronny in the first round with the guaranteed money that comes with it, then hats off to them.. It would be a coup. It would also be a really bad look for the Lakers to blow the #17 pick on him. But the second round has become open season for agents to direct their clients to friendly front offices and favorable circumstances. I could totally see that happening, but not without Klutch/Lebron's blessing. It's not worth the blowback from Klutch for someone like Detroit to select him. 2 more inches means a lot to South Austin's mom, too.
  18. RIP Jam Master Jay. His sacrifice at Normandy will never be forgotten.
  19. Good news. Topic apparently ok. That looked nasty. This draft could hardly afford losing talent at the top.
  20. Doncic playing some really good defense tonight. Credit where credit is due.
  21. And... down goes Topic. This doesn't look good, at all.
  22. Defense is not the reason I'm anti-Trae Young. Well, that's not the only reason. I think he's a locker room cancer with a bad contract who plays losing basketball, and he's going to cost you a ton of assets. So crippling future flexibility for a one dimensional ball dominant loser is beyond stupid. I don't know what Dillingham will be defensively, but I would be willing to bet a decent amount that he will be significantly better than Trae Young mostly because he's a better athlete, but more importantly I think he will give the effort. I don't see Sheppard as much of an improvement defensively over Dillingham. His numbers are impressive both in the analytics and that vertical, but guys were blowing right past him on the regular. I think they take Risacher if he's there too. I'm iffy on him, but I do like him better than Buzelis. I keeping having this nagging feeling that there are going to be teams that regret passing on Cody Williams.
  23. I don't want to pile on, but when I found out today that they're searching for a new president of basketball operations and using Billy King as the lead on the search committee, I almost shit myself laughing. Billy King oversaw arguably the worst trade in NBA history when he traded Boston the picks that turned out to be Jaylon Brown and Jayson Tatum for the rotting corpses of KG, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry. I guess Isiah was too busy fucking up the Suns to help out his old team, but come the fuck on. Billy King? Holy shit. https://sports.yahoo.com/the-big-lottery-moves-of-atlanta-houston-add-another-layer-of-offseason-intrigue-234442947.html
