  1. So long as Ukraine remains a chew-toy tug o' war rope between east and west this is going to flare up from time to time, and the only long-term solution is to remove it from play. We need to enforce a muscular neutrality on Ukraine. I am not calling for Putin to be able to get in there and install another puppet. A truly neutral Ukraine with UN troops on the ground and observing the elections if necessary. Instead of forcing Russia to pay for reparations, we make that optional for them, even as we go in full bore with a Marshall Plan 2. While Russia tumps over their vodka-sodden couch trying to scrounge a few stray kopecks, the west is out there rebuilding the country and handing out candy, flowers, and construction contracts. And again, we make Kyiv a banking center to rival or surpass London. Ukraine becomes a giant Switzerland with worse chocolate but hotter women. We let Vlad keep Crimea and those little provinces over there so he can claim a grand victory while our sanctions drag on and on and more and more people figure out what a shitheel he is. CIA, MI-5 and all the other western intelligence agencies are working on the oligarchs... Or we can act rashly on the contigencies of the moment and possibly spiral all out into nuclear war.
  2. I admit it's humbling. Not manly. Sometimes it's best to beat a tactical retreat. See Houston, Sam, who had to fight off idiot underlings who wanted to turn and fight Santa Anna all across Texas in spite of what happened to the the Alamo and Fannin. Putin's time will come.
  3. Let's try and see if we can get to that bridge before we blow up the planet.
  4. I'll believe it when I see it, and he knows that the reaction to any incursion into a NATO country will make reaction to this seem like a Bob Stoops suspension of a star player. Way too much Red Dawn on this thread and not enough The Day After. If y'all want to go nuclear over something that might happen, well, I wish I could say good luck with that, but my ass and my kids' asses are on the line their too. As it stands now, we have people practically stumping for MAD over Ukrainian alignment with the west. Not independence -- alignment with the west. Just a few weeks ago we are all in agreement it was an extremely shady country whose own oligarchs were little better than their big brothers to the east. To shore that up, we are willing to literally incinerate the planet? Let the sanctions work. Put Ukraine under UN -- not Russian -- control. Grind down the oligarchs and the Russian people. Don't press the button.
  5. Why? He wants a neutral, demilitarized Ukraine. Is that worth the annihilation of the planet? Even if we don't take him at his word, and we give him that, and he keeps pressing forward into NATO territory, that takes money he doesn't have and time for his government to collapse or him to be assassinated.
  6. In the early days of the DeShaun Watson debacle I was told Buzbee had hired a very zealous former ADA for cases involving torts against women -- she'd prosecuted sex crimes and domestic violence cases with special vigor. In the space of a week the Watson case falls apart and Buzbee signs up this budding young Ike Turner. I wonder what that lawyer thinks about her career choices now. Or maybe she's an Aggie in which case advantage Buzbee.
  7. He wasn't banned, but apparently Junior Miller either did not murder his wife or his ploy of lamming it to New Zealand worked in the aftermath, because he's back and as crazy as ever.
  8. Oh yeah she got a booger bear up in there. Still would.
  9. "Okay, now you've gotten that out of your system...."
  10. Bill James wrote a great essay on the cost-benefit analysis of running into walls. Fans love it because it shows "hustle," and might save a run or two on that particular play, but what about the long run? Not saying Meyers was a meathead Charlie Hustle kinda dude on that play because it was more awkward than a full on Pete Reiser slam, but discretion can be the better part of valor unless a World Series is at stake or something. Kid's whole career has hit a major speed bump because outfielders are taught by some coaches to go balls to the wall.
  11. I am betting he got a reputation as a "Canadian" tipper. Word got around the IG Happy Ending Providers....I don't think it was the Texans who had it in for him but the NFL.
  12. so are we just gonna ignore how once this hit criminal court it all evaporated? Y'all were calling me a psycho misogynist when I was posting about how hinky this all seemed.
  13. No way....You are getting greedy selling out years of future on overkill for next year.
  14. For a retired couple that is not small under any circumstances except the minds of the owners. I bet the people who think that would want 3.5 bathrooms to go with their 2000 sq.-ft.
  15. Yeah....But for documentary footage of Air Cav (as opposed to real time PsyOps) you want Watchtower
  16. Naw man it's this one. But the video sucks -- it's supposed to be Air Cav coming in and out of hot LZs
  17. Be really cool if they took him out with one of these:
  18. I am buddies with a Desert Storm era Warthog pilot....He said combat got boring over there after the first couple of sorties....Fish in a barrel. He is a non-Trump Republican hardcore pacifist now. /CSB
  19. I know1 Next he'll be saying the Panther of Kharkiv is also fake!
  20. Easy for Mitt to say. He and his tribe have been preparing for this for 150 years. They'll finally get at that year's supply of cans and jars and frozen food before they expire.
  21. Why can't you get there? Just get to Prague or Warsaw and then start taking trains east. You can go over there and volunteer in support. I am sure there is a job waiting for you. You'd be paid minimally if at all and live in a dorm but you'd be doing your part. You don't have to be a frontline soldier in the legion of veterans. You might not get to personally kill two Russians but you might enable others to kill many more. If you really, really want to go, there is no excuse for you not to. I say this as someone who deeply regrets not having served America in even stupid wars. My excuses were the same. But I didn't believe in those wars with anything like the fervor some of you on here do; aside from Afghanistan, we've not had a single semi-legit reason to invade any of these countries, and even then, we invaded the wrong fucking country. Twice. We should have just melted down the Saudi leadership and called it a day instead of wasting 20 years at war. But I digress. Talk is cheap.
  22. First and one of maybe five hockey games I've attended: Gordie's Houston Aeros vs the Soviet Red Army circa 1977. Did not end well for the hometown boys -- I think it was someting like 12-1 -- but I got a puck with the Aeros logo on one side and a Pearl beer logo on the other. I might still have that damn thing somewhere.
