  1. I never listen to enough full albums, but did grab & enjoy these in 2020: Fontaines D.C. - A Hero's Death Bartees Strange - Live Forever Boy Harsher - Careful Orville Peck - Show Pony (EP) Frank Ene - No Longer (EP) I trust the buzz on Taylor Swift and Sturgill, just haven't gotten to them yet
  2. This might be in FB or recruiting, but The Texas 6 is an all-access type show on the Strahm Greyhounds (halfway between Fort Worth and Abilene). Two episodes in, it's mildly entertaining. I can't help compare it to Last Chance U, which has way better characters to choose from given people's ages. The main weird thing to me is Craig Way calling the games, which I assume was taped after the fact. I always wonder if Last Chance U recorded the radio stuff in post, some of the commentary is just too on-the-nose with the off field narrative. In this case, it's more like it's impossible for Craig to do this
  3. I agree Pederson's play calling took a side turn at 14-3 and never recovered. But Dallas did a good job on Hurts, not letting him escape up the middle of the pocket as he has the last couple weeks. Eagles are just decimated with injuries on both sides. Fletcher Cox leaving early pretty much ended this one. (Not that it matters but the kicker Elliott has been ass, that played into not taking the FG on 4th-15) For the future, who knows what they'll do but it will be hard not to make Hurts the starter in the summer. Wentz trade value is putrid, like maybe a 5th rounder and we still have a huge cap hit (though Hurts youth evens it out). The general feeling up here is Pederson will get fired but the GM will stay. Good news/bad news for Cowboys fans, I don't see the Eagles managing to beat WAS next week even if they try. The banged up guys won't dress which probably includes CB Slay who played today (and Cox the best defender on the team). The good news being you're not stuck at No. 19 in the draft.
  4. If WBB was more talked about, there would be people pointing out the Duke women were not ranked and had just lost by 25 to Louisville in their ACC opener. Would they have pulled the plug if they had their usual top 10-15 squad? The school statement indicates this was a players' decision, although they have had no known positive tests among players (it was two staff members that caused them to shut down last week). I'm curious to read follow up on this if it ever gets written.
  5. This is the block that has Dick's Last Resort AND Hooters Some folks will need a plan C for Christmas dinner
  6. San Jose's season is one of the top "why playing college football in 2020 wasn't all bad" stories And it's not like they have a ton of season ticket holders who didn't get to watch them in person
  7. I've seen enough, aggy out of the top 10
  8. We stand by our stats
  9. Pos rep for the 2 pm drunk post
  10. There have been barely any lawsuits for COVID deaths in 2020, much less successful ones (if any). It's too difficult to prove when and where someone caught the virus. And again, the lack of deaths and serious health problems among athletes at this point provides a ton of legitimate cover for the NCAA and pro leagues. In Johnson's case, it sounds like he had it well before the season and thus UF and the NCAA couldn't have prevented it anyway. The season won't be stopping because of this incident, and so far it looks like cancellations/pauses aren't going to be prevalent enough to shut it down either. I doubt they hit the 75-85 percent completion rate of CFB though
  11. He reportedly did have COVID earlier in the year, so it's possibly related. But nothing will nor should be canceled. If anything, the thousands of sporting events successfully played around the world should be evidence that the myocarditis risk is minimal. It just needs to be screened for as much as possible, so it wouldn't be surprising if some players who had COVID decide to opt out if they can't get checked via MRI. Johnson is an NBA prospect so there's no way he would have retired despite the risk.
  12. Last full weekend, we should finish up with 254 out of 294 match-ups between Power 5 teams having been played on schedule That's 86.4 percent, case closed CFB 2020 is NOT in trouble. There will be a bunch more bowls canceled and even New Year's major bowls will have issues as players run home for Christmas and come back positive. But they'll find four teams to play semis and the championship, all of whom will be even more careful at that point. Trophy handed over and let's flush these awful memories
  13. First question at Oats next zoom call should be, "Would you have made that statement if Duke was in this conference and you had to play them this season?"
  14. Sounds like Purdue bailed them out with their outbreak. No way B1G farms out an easy W and more clear path to CFP, especially at the risk of pissing off Fox if they didn't get the game. Now they can keep everything in the family and let the Bucks roll again at Big Noon. I suspect aggy would have taken their chances that ND beats Clemson again, as opposed to a sure loss to tOSU in front of a massive audience (and again, having to navigate the Fox/CBS situation).
  15. People would hate it, but this is a layup for the committee: 1 Clemson: Preseason 1, only loss on the road in OT without your QB 2 Alabama: Best team start-to-finish, slips up on neutral site to a Top 5 challenger 3 Ohio State: Eye test is all we got, but they'll be a dominant 7-0 4 Florida: Early close loss redeemed by beating No. 1 and winning best conference
  16. Waited til Saturday for this week's update. Probably will still need an edit, but... We should wake up Monday with 233 out of 267 match-ups between Power 5 teams having been played on schedule 87.3 percent, pct figure is rising for the second week in a row
  17. You absolutely wear a mask in public. No need to give deniers another excuse to happily yell to everybody as they walk into CVS
  18. Well, I sure hope I don't JINX!!! the Buckeyes, but it's Friday so here's the weekly stat: We should wake up Sunday with 207 out of 238 match-ups between Power 5 teams having been played on schedule That's 87.0 percent and trending UP again.
  19. It's a mess, predictably, but it's basically the same as what CFB has gone through, with the added burden of being indoors. Every single sport has had COVID issues at the re-start, from the women's pro soccer league to even the vaunted NBA having to hold players out in the bubble for a while. It's harder with college kids for obvious reasons. I would argue having the messy re-start, where a bunch of meaningless non-conference games don't get played, will actually help teams get into a routine of living safely in time for conference season. If they just punted until January, then all these cases would start popping up in January.
  20. Auburn self imposes a 2021 post-season ban. We'll see if NCAA adds anything, if they ever they get around to it
  21. Announcer: Chip Kelly is showing a lot of faith in his young QB Chip Kelly: Calls for 60 yard hail mary with :05 in half Oregon: Hits QB, pick 6 as time expires
  22. Clemson at FSU called off, sounds like Clemson tried to sneak a positive player out there
  23. Along those lines, barring a late Pac-12 puss-out, we will awaken Sunday with 183 out of 209 match-ups between Power 5 having been played on schedule (I threw in the UCLA quickie-game from last week on the plus side). Down to 87.6 percent, and I suspect it will get a little worse as cases are still way high and also we may be approaching the period where some teams with nothing to play for just shut down for safety reasons. But we're also quickly approaching the point where the true CFP contenders will have enough games to not have to panic if anyone backs out on them.
