Go to https://www.antennaweb.org/ and put your address in the box. It will show you which antennas you need to reach the different stations nearby - and it will help you with where you should point the antenna.

I'm out in the Tyler area and use 2 antennas. One is the flat, cheap kind (the local Fox station tower is about 10 miles east from me) and one is a nicer one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SVNKT86 (to get the rest of the stations to the south). Both are in my attic mounted to beams. I have them going into an HDHomeRun Extend (2 tuner) and an HDHomeRun Flex (4 tuner). I don't use the HDHomeRun DVR service. You could watch TV with their app (on phone or TV), with a browser, or other methods. https://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/

In my case I run a Channels DVR server and use both HDHRs as sources. .If you have cable you can use that as a source via TV Everywhere as well. https://getchannels.com/ Any TV on your home network can watch ChannelsDVR with a smart TV or a streaming stick. You don't need coax to the TVs.
