  1. https://www.newsobserver.com/news/nation-world/national/article287049170.html A 13-year-old Tennessee girl was fatally shot and her mother says it was an accident, investigators told news outlets. Police responded to a call about a shooting at about 10 p.m. March 23 from a home on Nashville’s south side, police told WTVF. First responders arrived to find a teenage girl with a gunshot wound, police said. The mother told police she was trying to get her keys from her purse and accidentally caused her .40-caliber pistol to fire, striking her daughter, The Tennessean reported. She stored the handgun in her purse without a holster, police said. The daughter was taken to a hospital for treatment but died in an emergency room, WKRN reported. So far, no charges have been brought against the girl’s mom, according to officials. https://www.newsobserver.com/news/nation-world/national/article287002660.html As a 4-year-old went down for a nap in bed beside his father’s girlfriend, he reached underneath a pillow, Arizona police say. There, his hands felt a 9mm handgun, Moroni Mendez, an officer with the Glendale Police Department, said at a March 21 news conference. The Glendale boy fired the gun, accidentally shooting himself in the chest the morning of March 20, Mendez said. “What did you do?” his father’s girlfriend told police she asked him as she “cuddled him in her arms,” court documents show. The woman told police the boy said “he was sorry.” He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said in a news release. Subsequently, police said the woman, 31, and boy’s father, 44, were arrested. McClatchy News is not identifying the suspects to protect the child’s identity. Each is facing charges of child neglect/abuse, endangerment, and misconduct of weapons stemming from the boy’s accidental shooting, according to police. “It’s just a terrible case,” Mendez said. “It’s one of those cases where we just want to stress the practice of gun safety.” When officers searched the home, they found .40-caliber rounds throughout the house, including in the master bedroom, court documents show. In addition to finding the 9mm handgun with a loaded magazine beside it, officers also found a rifle round in a men’s jacket inside a closet, court documents show. While searching the back yard, officers found a .40-caliber gun “in the middle of the dirt,” court documents show. Officers also found a handgun magazine in a Dodge Charger, court documents show. 2. Mexico National Team had an emergency practice today. Below is a hidden video of the practice. They still haven't scored.
  3. Blurred video in the link. There's a non-blurred video but I'm not posting it. https://bakersfieldnow.com/news/local/man-arrested-after-taking-leg-of-pedestrian-after-train-incident-in-wasco-kcso-deputy-amtrak-bakersfield-california
  4. Is it ok to eat road kill and is the leg considered road kill? https://www.huffpost.com/entry/california-man-arrested-taking-leg-killed-train_n_65fe4c5fe4b0c9b69472768a A California man was arrested after allegedly taking a leg from the scene of a deadly train collision in Wasco on Friday. Officials reportedly said that 27-year-old Resendo Tellez removed evidence from the site after a person was struck and killed by a train, which severed their leg around 8 a.m. at the city’s Amtrak station. Disturbing video circulating on social media shows a man appearing to hold a severed body part and eat from it, before wiping his face and making his way down a sidewalk.
  5. She wasn't right between the ears before. She went from Gavin to Orange Jr and ended up looking like coked out/meth whore. All that toxic Trump family drama did a number on her.
  6. She is not well. How it started. How it's going.
  7. Witnesses say they heard the terrorists shout “Dagestan is azerbaijan”
  8. level 1 HorribleDiarrhea ·1 hr. ago Reading some tweets that say they gunmen held a young woman down and doused her with flammable liquid and set her on fire 😭 sparkygriswold1986 ·2 hr. ago So what happened to the shooters? I've read through several articles and have not seen any information on what happened to the actual shooters. ·1 hr. ago I am russian. Some people were arrested, but it seems they are not the shooters. The shooters managed to escape in white sedan and now everyone is looking for them. Also their car was mined.
  9. NSFL warning. Seriously, you are warned.
  10. I cannot believe Weigman did not transfer to a better program. No way he's looking at the returning Oline thinking he'll be better protected than he and the other aggy QBs were last season. Will be interesting to see how much Klein has Weigman run. Can Klein be a successful without a running QB threat?
  11. Yes, it and others properties were on both with HomeAway/VRBO being more expensive on options on the ones that I compared.
  12. Agreed that most of the roads outside of the main thoroughfares are all dirt/gravel. I'm OCD about keeping clean vehicles so all that dirt and mud will drive me nuts. The entire town shuts down no later than 9PM, basically. There are a few decent restaurants and one amazing restaurant but yeah the dining options are limited. The population is really old but the second highest population % right now are people under 18 so there is a youth movement in the town. Not much in the way of industry or employment. American and United have directs between Durango (DRO) and Dallas, Denver and Phoenix. The drive between Durango and PS is scenic and is easy straight shot. I love the outdoors. PS and surrounding area has it abundance. What I love more is that it's mostly locals only. Not that many tourist visit there compared to other mountain towns in CO. I've been in many many hikes all throughout CO, many of them the more popular ones. I discovered I really enjoy beautiful hikes with hardly anyone on them. PS area has so many great hikes which fit this description. Plus I love to golf. The 27 golf course is a great course to play. But yea, we'll see how the Mrs likes being that far from civilization. She's used to the amenities of central Austin, which a gazillion yoga studios and everything within a 5 mile radius. I'm thinking we'll downsize in Austin and buy a 2nd home in PS. PS real estate is just so much cheaper compared to the rest of CO. I just want to get the F away from Texas from May - Sep. PS fits the budget for us to retire early and save a little extra for the kids when we pass.
  13. Yes, I looked at HomeAway/VRBO and AirBNB. Of the 2, AirBNB was the only one which offered a monthly discount, a decent one at that.
  14. In honor of last summer in Austin where it was hell on Earth, I am fleeing the Texas summer hell hole and spending the entire month of July in Pagosa Springs. I call it homework for if I want to move there for retirement in 3-4 years. We've been about 5 times (a week at a time) in the last 3 years, but this will be the longest stay.
  15. I posted this in the Depression thread in the Help board. We are all assholes and argue over the most mundane shit. But life is more than the shit on this board. Shit outside of this board matters and sadly some of it is painfully sad. Posting it here cause it happened in Austin. Yesterday on Reddit Austin I came across a thread about Mopac and the 183 bridge being shut down. Redditors said it was a jumper from the 183 overpass down to Mopac. Then I see this thread this morning. The whole read was sad, but the part about the ringing phone got to me. Holy fuck, someone on the other end of that line is going to have a very bad year. I'm not a religious person but I'll think positive thoughts (I guess my way of saying prayers) to anyone who needs help. If you need help, please reach out to someone, anyone. 183/Mopac death I was driving home from work and the car in front of me stops on the overpass and puts their hazards on… I’m thinking they’re out of gas. But then they drive up another 40 feet and stop again. He opens his door and with no hesitation, he jumps off the overpass and lands on the median on mopac. I’ve never even dreamt of witnessing something so terrifying in my life. I of course stopped and called 911 and they asked me if he was still breathing so I kept having to look at his body from up top and I can’t get the imagine out of my head. I was stuck on the overpass for a few hours as detectives wanted to know what I’d seen. Meanwhile, he left the door open and his phone was in the seat and someone was calling over and over. I couldn’t help but think of a mom/dad/friend or relative not knowing what had just happened. This has rocked me to my core. Life is fragile, spend it with your loved ones. Love to all

  17. It's not just the US. Best case for Apple from the DOJ case, status quo. Compromise case, they have to open up their walled garden: messaging, 3rd party access to NFC, gimping other apps at the benefit of Apple apps and services, etc. Worst case, they get broken up. Other countries are and will continue to do their own cases. Apple is going to spend the next few years battling in many different countries courts. If they are pissing off this many countries regulators, clearly they are doing something anticompetitive. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/21/technology/apple-doj-lawsuit-antitrust.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare&sgrp=c-cb The lawsuits reflect a push by the regulators to apply greater scrutiny to the companies’ roles as gatekeepers to commerce and communications. In 2019, under President Donald J. Trump, the agencies opened antitrust inquiries into Google, Meta, Amazon and Apple. The Biden administration has put even more energy behind the effort, appointing critics of the tech giants to lead both the F.T.C. and the antitrust division of the Department of Justice. In Europe, regulators recently punished Apple for preventing music streaming competitors from communicating with users about promotions and options to upgrade their subscriptions, levying a 1.8 billion-euro fine. App makers have also appealed to the European Commission, the European Union’s executive arm, to investigate claims that Apple is violating a new law requiring it to open iPhones to third-party app stores. In South Korea and the Netherlands, the company is facing potential fines over the fees it charges app developers to use alternative payment processors. Other countries, including Britain, Australia and Japan, are considering rules that would undercut Apple’s grip on the app economy.
  18. If you believe that you are in for a rude awakening. There's a reason Apple has acquiesced to EU first about USB-C and then about their bullshit to limit faster charging to "certified" Apple crap. There's a reason they about faced and changed their mind to allow side loading. There's a reason they were fined almost $2B dollars over music streaming apps. Governments around the world have had enough of their bs. There's a very compelling argument about their anticompetitive business practices. They are going to lose. Expect them to open up more of their wall gardened because of this.
  19. They start early in Houston. https://abc13.com/houston-crime-little-rascals-arrested-young-boys-accused-of-robbing-bank-greenspoint-wells-fargo-robbed/14546129/ HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The three bank robbery suspects dubbed as the "little rascals" are now in custody, according to FBI Houston. The trio made headlines when authorities shared on social media that they were wanted for allegedly robbing a Wells Fargo bank on the North Freeway and West Road in the Greenspoint area. Initially, a witness told officials the boys appeared to be between 14 and 18 years old. But, in the arrest update, the FBI said they are 16, 12, and 11 years old. "The age of the younger two, that's unusual for a bank robbery," Mike Schneider, a retired juvenile district court judge, told ABC13. "It's one of the first times I've seen that." While FBI Houston released the surveillance photos, the case is a Harris County Sheriff's Office investigation. According to HCSO, the boys passed a threatening note to a teller. They were believed to be armed, though they did not present a weapon, and they got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Once the photos were released, HCSO started getting tips from the public. Parents of two of the boys came forward and identified them, the sheriff's office said. The third boy was handled by a law enforcement agency following a fight and recognized. The sheriff's office said authorities recovered a weapon and a distinctive item pictured in one of the photos. The "little rascals" are charged with robbery by threat, a second-degree felony. "I was thinking either this was very low in sophistication or maybe an adult had something to do with this. That is not uncommon. Because kids have a punishment that is less severe, it is not uncommon for adult offenders to get them to commit crimes," Schneider said.
