  1. I rarely interact with Michigan or Ohio State fans in real life. It would be much worse for, say, A&M and OU to win it back-to-back.
  2. There were lots of Texas fans down there that night. The tower was a central point, being in the middle of campus, being lit for victory, and also immediately adjacent to The Drag where tons of people were congregating. Many impromptu renditions of "The Eyes" broke out all around, and I probably participated in one or more of them standing at the base of the Tower. But at no point was anyone singing TO the Tower. That's just some pure made up shit from a complete dork who is obviously embarrassed that his school is widely viewed as a cult, or at the very least, a bunch of loser weirdos.
  3. At night!!!! Yup. They light the tower orange after every victory. But there was no #1 on it that night.
  4. One day on team Ferrari and he's already dressing 1000x better.
  5. Light snow in NW Travis County right now. It's accumulating and sticking on neighborhood roads. Not sure about major roads, won't know until dawn.
  6. I'm the opposite, I actually intensely dislike the flavor of masa in chili, totally ruins the bowl for me. When using the rehydrated chile method, the chile skins themselves provide tons of thickening, which is another reason I prefer the rehydrated chile method to using powders.
  7. NIL and revenue sharing/direct pay-for-play are not the same thing. There's nothing any school, conference, or the NCAA can do, to "burn down NIL." They can't violate state laws.
  8. Go half and half. Half with queso, half with gravy. Best of both worlds.
  9. Hey, the existence of David Ash led to this, so he'll always be okay in my book:
  10. Go home, GEM, you're drunk!
  11. Heh, my kids don't actually have any particular affinity for Houston or Dallas, they're just jealous of the snow. Well that's not entirely true, they equate Dallas with the State Fair and TX-OU weekend, so they love it for that. They've only been to Houston a couple of times but on one of those trips, we took them to NASA, and my aerospace engineer friend who works there, got us onto the actual floor of Mission Control and they got to chat with the Flight Director, so they think that's really cool, too. Otherwise they love the Austin area and prefer it. That is, until... Snow Day.
  12. Nope. Not if they're already on campus or have even already committed to Texas. Gotta be shinier and newer.
  13. Oh come on man, you know Texas fans. Always enthralled with the idea of anything shiny and new.
  14. Ha! They just love a snow day. They even loved Snowmageddon 2021 and Icepocalypse 2023. Because they got to miss school.
  15. I have no idea what someone might be protesting on dirty 6th, but anyone doing so probably deserves getting run over.
  16. Last week my kids were pissed we don't live in Dallas. Looks like next week they're gonna be pissed we don't live in Houston.
  17. I can remember going through the couch cushions to find change to buy a breakfast coke at the convenience store across from my apartment, I can remember getting free saltines and ketchup at restaurants and mixing with hot water to make "tomato soup," and I can remember feeling elated when ramen went on sale for 7 for $1 instead of the normal 5 for $1. And yet somehow, I also never seemed to miss out on beer and burgers at The Posse or the Crown and Anchor, and regularly consumed my weight in margaritas and smoked chicken enchiladas at Trudy's Texas Star. I guess you gotta have priorities.
  18. Yeah that one was my favorite, too. Showing up, lifting weights, running on the treadmill-- Culture Change!
  19. So, same as they've always done, then.
  20. Well, shaggybevo did warn us that fake cancer is a real problem.
  21. Putting limitations like that on 3rd party NIL wouldn't be any more legal than completely restricting as they did before.
  22. Yeah it was always open to traffic in the 80s/90s/early 2000s. Closing it down to vehicle traffic is a relatively new thing. It started with Halloween, then extended to a few other big party nights, and then ultimately they started doing it every weekend. And back when, it wasn't a real issue. It wasn't until the lurker/loiterer/troublemaker crowd with zero intention of entering the bars, started occupying the street itself, that it became a problem. I think there will be a transition period where that crows still tries to linger, perhaps on side streets, but ultimately without the ability to mass congregate in the most interesting areas of the street, they'll find some other place where they can congregate. Highland Mall is no longer available but Lakeline is half-empty these days...
  23. Aggies, is there anything they don't know about excellent QB play??
