  1. Argh, also looks like they only deliver and I'm "just a bit outside" of the delivery range.
  2. Thanks. Yeah I run a large offset. It's my wedding dowry from my father in law. I guess I should specify I'm ideally looking in NW Austin/CP but for good deals I can certainly travel and just stock up.
  3. Hey where are y'all getting smoking wood in Austin? I've gone to Harley's at Anderson Mill/183 for over a decade, but last time I was there a couple of months ago he said he was going to be closing up, and I think that's now done. Specifically I'm looking for pecan, but in general I guess I need to find a new source.
  4. Yup, so stupid that they've been running the whole track but only allow access to part of it. But I guess if, as @Bill Brasky says, they're running the shorter course this year, then restricting access to the long end of the track won't be as impactful.
  5. Wranglers, KO2s, Nitto Ridge Grapplers-- I've had all three of those in recent years and been pleased with the balance of aggressive vs. quiet for all of them. But none of them are going to run like the Defender LTX. It really just ends up being a tradeoff and you have to decide what's most important to you.
  6. I did it once. I enjoyed hearing those cars around the track, they're quite loud. But the races themselves are an absolute beating. The "stage" racing is the worst invention since New Coke. But if you actually enjoy NASCAR racing then you'll probably like it.
  7. Ukraine was dressed skanky and deserved it.
  8. The Real Ale mix pack that have the Belgian quad, the Scotch heavy, and the Russian imperial stout, are pretty tasty.
  9. Wow that dude is pretty serious about his bean soup.
  10. Since this thread has inevitably devolved from "greatest tv theme songs" to "tv theme songs that make me nostalgic" I'll go ahead and throw this one out there-- it had me glued to the TV after school, I think it probably aired on one of the "new cable stations" either USA or WTBS. I watched it at a friend's house because at the time they had cable and we didn't. Theme song takes me way back.
  11. Yup. Don't care, got burrito.
  12. That one ag who said, "Completely unwarranted and delusional arguments said with such confidence" might not realize it, but he just entered a very strong contender for a new Surly motto...
  13. "Indian bread." I lived off those things during my junior and senior year in EE when I pretty much didn't leave campus from 7 AM til 10 PM every day.
  14. Pray for lightning.
  15. Cold again. I'm ready for winter to be over.
  16. Devil's Backbone is delicious. Strong stuff, beware.
  17. Wow, they finally figured out that was just an excuse for Schloss leaving. If they ever understand the real reason he left A&M and came to UT, they might be onto something. But, they won't.
  18. John Hamm did attend Texas but basically left in disgrace after being arrested and placed on probation for some very serious hazing at the Sigma Nu fraternity, hazing that was bad enough to get the fraternity disbanded from UT campus. https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2015/apr/10/mad-men-star-jon-hamm-was-charged-with-hazing-in-college-days
  19. I love Czech dark lagers. After almost 10 or 15 years of me begging and bugging Chip at Live Oak to brew one, they finally did a couple of years ago, and it was fantastic. I didn't know ABW had one, I'll definitely give it a try. I also love Saison, maybe my favorite style. Believe it or not Deep Ellum Brewing had one of the best American versions of the style I've ever tasted, when they first opened up. But it was actually good, unlike most of their beers, so of course they killed it. Is that place even still around?
  20. It's so weird, that anyone would actually think that way. Some around here know that I'm married to an aggie, who comes from a large family of aggies. All of her direct relations are great, normal people. Some of the extended cousins and aunts and uncles are a bit extreme, but I rarely have to see or interact with them. But it would never have occurred to me, to ask if there's anything I should know about dating an aggie girl. Because the majority of them are normal. And it never occurred to her to ask anyone if there's anything she should know about dating a longhorn guy. Because why would it make any difference? Internet fringe fans are weird across the board, but theirs are by far the weirdest.
  21. Yup Season 3 wrapped up beautifully, but if they're willing to make more, I'm willing to watch it.
  22. After I'd already highlighted it and responded with my Del Griffith "Oh yeah, sure, sure" meme in post #30840.
  23. Stouts are quite commonly in the 5% or lower range. Guinness is 4.2%, and only 125 calories/12 oz. It's my go-to when I want to drink a Light Beer.
  24. Big Ten Courts Private Equity Investment, Retains Evercore https://www.sportico.com/leagues/college-sports/2025/big-ten-private-equity-investment-evercore-1234826061/ Is there anything that Private Equity doesn't improve??
