  1. My dad left me overnight 25 years ago and still hasnt come back heyyooooo
  2. Get outlets that have built-in USB ports. Better yet, you can embed wireless charging pads into tabletops
  3. They said the horrendous truck will do 0-60 in 2.6s and cover the 1/4mi in the 10s
  4. Probably had no choice. Baboons gonna baboon. Prob wished it was a capuchin though
  5. fucking hate split sinks. cant place a big thing in it. replacing mine next year with a single big bowl when we also change the countertops.
  6. What I was leaning more towards was, if you watch the Giants play the Falcons just 1 time, you could form an opinion of whether Saquon is better than Bijan. It'd be subjective, sure, but it's reasonably informed. But it'd be really hard -- atleast for me -- to tell if Drew Dalman is a better Center than John Schmitz. Obviously it's possible to assess them. There's scouts and coaches whose literal job it is to evaluate them. And supposing I only paid attention to them the entire game, I could kinda surmise who's a better blocker. But most people most of the time would not be able to muster an opinion. I listen to Tool and their music features prominent drumming, so the sound is obvious and I enjoy it, but does that make Danny Carey a "great" drummer? I'd have no idea, right?
  7. "I should....show my titties on the internet" cat.jpg
  8. There's a saying in Occitania -- I know its in Roma, probably in Occitania -- Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius.
  9. probably not for literal decades. prior to bush and lendale white was...ricky ervins? in 21st century, texas has as much right to that title as alabama
  10. Yeah i agree with most of that. And absolutely support for militaristic/terroristic action is significantly non-zero. Poor, uneducated, aggro, besieged is a combustible mix. Its sad all the stuff you mentioned is so long and deeply entwined itll never be unwound and resolved. Of course, we already knew that conclusion last decade, and the one before that, and the one before that…
  11. Thats exact why Quinn hasnt played like a completely badass at Texas. Dude is 2 steps ahead.
  12. You think Sark gets a chip on his shoulder for missing an outgoing conference award?
  13. the Performative aspect of american politics never cease to amaze. could you imagine, in the states of israel and palestine, the council of generals sitting in their war rooms, rife with tension, in eager anticipation of whether…… ….the city of Oakland formally endorse or condemn their actions?
  14. That is in no way analogous. Atleast try to Steelman the thing. The respondees probably dont have much of a choice in their answers. Hamas rose out of a 2-party conflict. There hasnt been elections in almost 2 decades. Supposedly, they shot and killed their “own people” trying to flee the territories. With that in mind, what do you think people in the Gaza strip (where they undemocratically wrestled control) would answer if asked publicly for affiliation? How do you equate that to a hypothetical American support of a hyper-fringe extremist sect when they’re free and clear to support the popular parties. Further, if you read the actual source of that graphic (Arab Barometer Wave), **overwhelmingly** peoples priorities were on economic well-being, education, health care; and they showed strong preference for democratic systems. They also shared low (and declining) trust in the govt/public institutions. Not unlike America, its economics that truly drive their (the citizens’) politics, not military activities/policies. In summary, an interpretation of the result is that it merely represents party prevalence — that the 2 highest answers reflect the 2 current parties — but does not imply 30% endorsement of terrorism. (any more than you can claim the US popular vote means 20% endorse the most loony/extreme idea from each party). The 10% support for P.I.J. is much more obvious because they explicit call for total destruction of Israel. But given how much of the IL-PL conflict negatively and materially affected their lives, 10% is not a surprise at all.
  15. Mizzou is quietly a 10-2 team and the Cotton is now considered prestige. Smacking a now-SEC rival there would be satisfying. Pedo State would be funner. Tulane has no cachet
  16. Beating a premier team soundly in a big bowl. This was the normal expectation when I was in school, and what the team achieved vs Ohio State, Michigan, etc. And failed when they landed in Holiday or Alamo bowl.
  17. Even if you can clearly pick out the bass, is that enough of a basis to judge the talent of the bassist? Theres a case for jazz with instrumental solos where its possible to hear a musicians creativity and technical complexity and execution. Within a rock song wheres bass is often a “simple” driving rhythmn, I dont understand how people can discern the differences between the bassist for Dire Straits vs Fleetwood Mac
  18. it really irks me how spouse takes this random, non-negotiable approach to some aspects of finance, specifically reimbursements. she has a work benefit allowing her to expense home internet bill, so a $500 value. all it takes is like 5 minutes digging through her emails for the receipts. the soft deadline for submitting expenses is around now. ive asked her in the gentlest way possible "hey have you sent it in". "no - im busy". "no - im doing other work". "no - dont you see i dont have time". etc etc. (meanwhile she'll devote a full hour with 100% effort crafting the most precise Feedback form response for contractors working in her team). i asked her one last time "will you try to submit it". "no, its probably too late. itll probably be rejected". thats it, zero effort to even try. today i told her im gonna buy a $200 step-stool for our kid. she goes on a search of the web and tells me "lets buy it when we visit my parents for christmas. its $70 cheaper there". her parents live 1500 miles away. im gonna make room in the trunk for a piece of furniture and drive it 3 fucking days to save $70, but she cant click a few mouse buttons to get $500 rightfully due?
  19. people keep going on about how apple maps improved its map...but without all the contextual information google has its useless. for restaurants, google has its own review database, link to menus (updated by biz owner and by customers)... destinations nav has integration to taxi and other mobility services, etc.
  20. every few months i entertain the idea of taking up motorcycling but then i realize i also enjoy being alive
