Joffe did not win Coach of the Year (ISU coach won it)

Khirin won FOY and POY and Pachkaleva won Newcomer of the Year

Yeah that's complete b*****t. Joffe has won 5 out of the 6 last conference championships (regular and tournament) but doubt Joffe is losing sleep over this.

Texas is actually shaping up to host the Sweet 16 thanks to USC and Washington having strong conference tournament and San Diego not making it to the finals of the West Coast Conference (Pepperdine will not gain any points from their conference tournament). Only thing that can stand in the way of hosting the Sweet 16 is if Ohio State makes a run and wins the Big 10 tournament.

Possible, but doubtful. LHN almost always broadcasts the Texas regional in volleyball. If the NCAA has no problem with that, then women’s tennis shouldn’t be any different.

Well that's a bit different.  ESPN was already broadcasting all volleyball regionals via ESPN+.  Ours just got pushed to LHN, same as softball and baseball's regional games.  But only allowing 1 tennis site to be broadcasted and not the other 15 would be a bit unfair.  Not that the NCAA has ever cared about fairness.

It was probably not LHN's call and it was more the NCAA saying it would not not allowed, because there's some weird streaming deal with TennisOne for the tournament and not with ESPN.  ESPN already owns the rights for the volleyball, softball, baseball and even WBB tournaments.  It's clearly a media rights issue.

And it's def not a scheduling issue - women play at 2pm Friday and softball doesn't play until 6.  Same with Saturday - baseball and softball are both on the road, so no issue with the men's match.

Looks like the rain ends around 3 only to pick up again 3 hours later. Pretty neutral about going indoors. Pepperdine's 2 of 3 losses were indoors and there aren't that many indoor courts in Southern California.

Charlotte and Sabina are going to have probably the toughest matches.

Sabina plays against Janice Tjen (lot of people think she should be playing at 1). Charlotte is playing Savannah Broadus who is undefeated this dual season. Broadus is from Texas, remember hearing about what a talent (both as a tennis player and overall athlete) during her junior years.

#11 ISU is the only spoiler to the Elite 8

1 UNC v 8 Texas

2 aggy v 7 Stanford

3 NC State v 11 ISU

4 UGA v 5 Michigan

Texas had the toughest S16 test, advancing 4-3. Everyone else advanced 4-0 or 4-1 except Michigan (4-2)

Hell of a win by Texas today indoors. I didn’t think they would make the E8 this year due to the 2 key injuries, but here they are. Saving those 3 match points in doubles made the difference, and Pachkaleva was the MVP today against her former team.

As I had guessed, Charlotte and Sabina had the tougher matches. Pretty cool to see Taisiya win against her old team (her opponent though wasn't on the team last year after transferring from San Diego State, also started her college career at OK State where she beat Peyton Stearns).

Now it's on against UNC. Pretty tall task against the number 1 but UNC has to be one of the biggest underachievers in any NCAA sport. Since 2010, they've finished in the top 5 except for one year where they finished 8th. During that time span, they've won 6 indoor titles but have never won at the NCAAs and only ever been in the finals. Seems like there's a big mental block even though this may be their year.....because as always in NCAA tennis, there may be some stacking going on 😈. Crawley is play line 2 despite being ranked number one and only having two losses on the year. UNC also tried putting Tanguilig at 4 and Forbes at 3 even though Tanguilig never played at 4 during the season- enough coaches filed a protest and UNC was fined and had to fix that part of the lineup.

There's a whole twitter discussion.

We probably don’t win that if the seeds flipped. Home field advantage

They also have some serious mojo and confidence right now.

That's now 24 straight wins in the postseason (Big 12 and NCAA tournament). Even with the injuries, UNC has to be pissed drawing Texas in the quarters as the #1 overall seed. Imagine being the top seed and getting the team that hasn't lost a post season match in 3 years.
