  1. 80 years ago this overnight, Supreme Allied Command meets in Britain to settle on 5 June for the invasion of Normandy. We now know it will be postponed by a day for weather. But the plan and logistics are settled right about now. In four weeks time, the largest event in human history begins. Our world will never be the same again. That the buildup occurs so discreetly is almost as impressive as the beach assault itself. 80 years Ago years of planning are set into motion tonight on a wing and a prayer. Too many men loSt their lives; but it worked.
  2. Does Rose Kennedy have a black worm? I mean ring dress? I mean a head dressing? Dammit, I had something for this!

Which should come in handy, here in Virginia. And I'm never ever sick at sea. There's a Do We, Do They, DeWey Decimal joke in here somewhere to help take the edge off. I'm all for using the preferred pronouns but I gotta admit, I just fucking can't with the attempt to change Spanish El/La/Los/Las. I get students every year at our academy for first gen students of color in the summer. And I'll do a portion of my talk in Spanish and somebody has an issue with the pronouns like I invented Romance Languages. Yes, I know "El Libro" may imply to some that the book has testicles, but take it up with Madrid. Now, if I refer to a student, I'll use what they indicated on their nametag. But don't give me any shit about saying "El Grado in sus colegios es una manera de..." They're just placeholders, nobody actually thinks the sun is a man and the moon is a woman. Well, maybe. Who am I to judge how you swing galactically?
  4. That whole National Realty Association (IIRC) & Zillow lawsuit filed in Washington by Rexhomes here in Austin was a bizarre story. They had the industry gatekeepers in the palm of their hands, about to up-end the MLS/6% cartel and change the way everything worked with residential housing from valuation to taxes to sales to appraisals to closings to title insurance. And it was all run by the guy who got Obama elected President because he lost his Illinois Senate bid to Obama when it was revealed he was forcing his Star Trek wife to attend underground sex clubs. (not that Obama wouldn't have still gone on later in life to win POTUS). Then he starts this company with PE fortunes, tackles the MLS/Zillow monopoly. But has to close the company down because he raided all of its money. Truth is always stranger than fiction. We haven't protested in a few years because two of our neighbors did massive upgrades to their homes and I didn't want to draw attention to it. But now we have four homes for sale within 2 blocks of us for the first time in probably a decade. And I'm wondering how to play this before 5/31 deadline.
  5. Speaking of boot-licking, with no offense to you hardcore Democrats (I know how you despise us folks that don't pull straight ticket D balllots every single election cycle since we turned 18). Obviously some smart people in a room somewhere decided it was for the best. But as Ukraine is back on upside, Russian assets being frozen again, EU/NATO ramping up support in light of our aid package, more weapon platforms being deployed again, humanitarian aid, etc. And again, due respect to Speaker Johnson for seeing the light. But I think of the idiocy of his chamber of Congress still going on and I think of the two quietest things that Biden has done despite Congressional pushback. And he can't run of them for obvious reasons. 1. He is doing more to crush Russia than any other President since Eisenhower or Reagan, two beloved GOP'ers. Who say what you will about them, at least held our country in high regard and knew what an evil shitheap USSR/Russia was/is. But he can't actively run on that. Because it calls more attention to what we know on this thread and others, but most of America is ignorant about. We are backfilling entire defense systems through our NATO allies and the next wave is going to be devastating, bordering on fatal, to Russia. This is an interesting milestone in history because we will have plurally brought an empire to its knees without a single boot on the ground, for pennies on the dollar compared to the Cold War. But we will never really be able to celebrate it for the safety of our allies. But the goodwill it books with Europe and parts of Western Asia will benefit our grandchildren's children. 2. Biden surrounded himself with truly brilliant and capable people. He can't run on that either because it could be construed as weakness by some. "Well, he got all those people to help him look good because he's old and dumb." We know that's not the case, but look the lack of attrition. Look at the commitment and capability of most of his cabinet and inner circle and high level appointees. I've never seen anything like it and I've know dozens of White House folks over the decades. That he can't really advertise these two truths is understandable, but will be studied for centuries as effective, and discrete, leadership. And if Mike Johnson gets a tad of credit for any of it, I'm okay with that. Because lives are being saved, we can get over our own internal bullshit later on. But were I the Speaker, and I sit in my driver's seat and see Marjorie Taylor Greene limping away from my car, wiping her hands off on her dress. I might hesitate on turning over the ignition. Just a suggestion, Mikey.
  6. The deployment of defense systems and weapons platforms was expected, but it's happening faster and more robustly than we as outsiders, albeit informed, thought. The really cool part is the boost of confidence it gave to NATO and EU allies to put the screws to Russian investments and assets from the eastern theater to Portugal and right quick. Holy shit. Our gesture and force posture had a quicker impact than I thought possible. Everything is moving wider and quicker than us pro-Ukraine optimists thought possible. Way to go 'Murica! Too bad we're not respected globally anymore. If this is what 'embarrassing' looks like in another hemisphere, I think Ukraine and NATO will take it any day of the week. This ramp up has been awe-inspiring because there was a marked rut there for a couple months. But miles to go before we sleep, and many promises that we must keep. For the Ukraine forests are dark and deep. And the Russian widows shall ball and weep...
  7. Good lord Donald, why would you do this to the poor bastard? In all fairness to most of America, almost everyone has stood clear of commenting on the young man as a show of respect for minor children that have nothing to do with their father's political life. And he deserved the anonymity. Hell, even me watching your cum-dumpster whore of a wife caring for him was somewhat endearing. And we all kinda cracked wise about you and his graduation and perhaps that was likely wrong of us. But if he's an official delegate, you have to understand what comes next. I certainly wish no harm against him but it's open season of derogatory jokes and insults and late night jokes from the first word he utters. He'll go to college next Autumn completely mocked and degraded because of this. This is insane. Don't do this to the kid. He has a chance, like Tiffany, to have a somewhat normal life. All things considered. You drag him to the convention as a delegate and it's his chance at normalcy is over at 18. You're not grooming him for politics or success or the limelight. You're condemning him to failure. Already. I know you're a maniacal sociopath and Eric is a half chromosome away from a "very special episode" of a telethon, Don Jr. is an addict beyond anybody's wildest dreams, and Ivanka is a calculating cunt of the highest order. But leave this poor oaf outta this. Please.
  8. Do you still call it "pilfer" at $17mm? I feel that's an insult to that many commas.
  9. I wonder honestly, who did more cocaine in their life...Rodney or Manziel? Not judging, just curious?
  10. I don't want to get into shaming female witnesses, but "Sailors that got killed by sharks or submarines" That's what we're going with to bring down the biggest asshole in U.S. history? Are we even trying anymore as a society? Were the sharks 'driving' the submarines' and shooting lasers? What in the fucking fuck is happening? Y'all realize our grandchildren will be able to read this shit? They;'ll be reading it in underground bunkers after a massive nuclear war, but they'll have printed copies.
  11. Well, in homage to Trump's incessant claims of election fraud and apparently shitty bedroom performance claims by multiple women under oath. I hereby declare that I have Trademark rights to the band name, "Stollen Erection"
  12. Ted to Carl, "I just found out something more fantastic than conjugal sex, Carl! Fugitive Sex!"
  13. President Hoover, "I, State your Name. With liberty and fraternity for all..." /animalhouse
