  1. Watching the Republican Party reduce its self to doing political theater for the dumbest fucking people in the country is interesting as well. It’s like if TexAgs somehow elected dozens of its users to the House of Representatives.
  2. Good job Republican legislators in Arizona! That Soros money is working efficiently to defeat Republicans there, https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/17/politics/arizona-house-abortion-law-repeal/index.html Lawmakers vote against hearing Arizona bill repealing abortion ban on House floor
  3. Just hit $25, MAGA might only lose 70% of their life savings.
  4. Counter-point: failing infrastructure is a good way to drive businesses away or keep them from moving here in the first place, especially those that rely on a lot of electricity.
  5. A whole lot of those counties out west and in the north have small populations - Swisher County has 6,700 people, Dickens 1,700, Scurry 17,000, etc. so what goes over well in Bum Fuck, Texas, population of 3,000, won’t go over as well in a much larger county or city. From that same page on the state website: 1. Catholic Church 4,673,500 18.59 20.95 2. Southern Baptist Convention 3,722,194 14.80 16.88 3. Non-Denominational Christian 1,546,542 6.15 — 4. And having gone to my wife’s Southern Baptist church here in Austin off and on for years (thankfully she left for the Presbyterians), and looking around at friends and family elsewhere in Texas (and having attended services, weddings, funerals, etc. in their churches)it was rare to see families with more than two kids. Usually those with more than two stopped at three, so most of them were practicing birth control or doing it in the pooper. Looking around, stats seem to be about 40% of Texas adults regularly attend church, which explains why more than 10 million Texans aren’t identified by faith. Its a weird hill for the group of Republicans pushing against birth control to die upon, as it could usher in the younger folks voting. edit: I question whether 40% are regularly attending church these days. - COVID Really did a number on people attending church and realizing they’d rather have their Sundays back for other stuff.
  6. His first wife was also his cousin.
  7. Emmer smells blood and is circling around, https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/16/politics/mike-johnson-revolt-house-gop-leadership/index.html And it’s telling that Emmer and others are making sure that they have Trump’s blessing.
  8. A good manservant would not let you leave the estate with an unkempt tie.
  9. Hammer home that Trump is arguing that a President can do just about anything, and therefore Biden should be allowed to as well. When they try to argue that’s not what they mean, just tell them that they are wrong and ask why they are disagreeing with President Trump. If they argue, just ask why they are against Trump. I don’t like to gaslight relatives, but in this case I will.
  10. This is going to be an issue next year in Texas and possibly nationwide. Last month, the 5th Circuit upheld the Texas law that bars teens from birth control without their parents’ consent https://www.texastribune.org/2024/03/12/texas-parental-consent-birth-control-fifth-circuit-title-x/ Texas Republicans in Congress voted against the national right to access contraception https://www.texastribune.org/2022/07/21/texas-congress-contraception/ Marsha Blackburn is making noise about going after birth control (because the Republicans are that fucking stupid) see video at the bottom. Clarence Thomas signified a few years ago that he’s ready to take it up https://www.politico.com/news/2022/06/24/thomas-constitutional-rights-00042256
  11. Collection of Massie’s whining today Speaker Johnson has led the GOP to pass: 1) an omnibus that spends more than Pelosi’s highest year 2) an expansion of the domestic warrantless surveillance program and this week he’s pushing 3) Schumer’s dream bill which contains $100 billion of foreign aid, mostly for war. Friday, we have one less Republican in the majority as Rep Gallagher leaves instead of finishing his term. As a going away gift, Speaker Johnson plans to force the senate to take up Gallagher’s bill to ban tiktok and give Presidential power to ban websites. But still no border. I just told Mike Johnson in conference that I’m cosponsoring the Motion to Vacate that was introduced by @RepMTG. He should pre-announce his resignation (as Boehner did), so we can pick a new Speaker without ever being without a GOP Speaker.
  12. This guy would never much such batshit claims….
  13. Still the best name ever for a serial killer. And a punk-rock band.
