  1. President Trump's announcement of potential 100% tariffs starting on China on Nov 1 will get all the attention, but export controls on "any and all critical software" could be extremely far-reaching, depending on how "critical software" is defined. Broadly scoped, this could capture any U.S. software or product containing U.S. software - which would disrupt most tech flows to China. It also could be scoped to block Chinese access to U.S. cloud computing services, as well as U.S. AI models. That would be extremely painful for Beijing. Narrowly scoped, this could just restrict U.S. chip-design software (which the U.S. controlled in May in response to the original Chinese rare earth controls, but subsequently issued licenses for). That would be far narrower than the scope of the controls that China announced. Bottom-line: There is significant ambiguity regarding what exactly President Trump is threatening here. He deserves credit for moving swiftly to push back on China's actions. But precise and credible threats are necessary to deter China from implementing their controls - and for this threat to be effective, additional clarity is likely necessary. Truth Details | Truth Social It has just been learned that China has taken an extraordinarily aggressive position on Trade in sending an extremely hostile letter to the World, stating that they were going to, effective November 1st, 2025, impose large scale Export Controls on virtually every product they make, and some not even made by them. This affects ALL Countries, without exception, and was obviously a plan devised by them years ago. It is absolutely unheard of in International Trade, and a moral disgrace in dealing with other Nations. Based on the fact that China has taken this unprecedented position, and speaking only for the U.S.A., and not other Nations who were similarly threatened, starting November 1st, 2025 (or sooner, depending on any further actions or changes taken by China), the United States of America will impose a Tariff of 100% on China, over and above any Tariff that they are currently paying. Also on November 1st, we will impose Export Controls on any and all critical software. It is impossible to believe that China would have taken such an action, but they have, and the rest is History. Thank you for your attention to this matter! DONALD J. TRUMP PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

  3. Old Hedgehog had to come out and issue a "clarification" after MAGA lost their shit.
  4. Interesting article about nations switching from peacetime to war, using Ukraine as an example Adapting from Peace to War: From Ukraine to Future War
  5. Putin: I'm going to fly some drones around Northern Europe The Netherlands: We are going to partner up with Ukraine and pump 300 million Euros into long-range attack drone and counter-drone systems manufacturing, and it'll be done here, out of reach of Russian attacks. Putin: I am a genius.
  6. Which led me to this, and no way this guy can get with somebody like that.
  7. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER
  8. Part of it/all of it has to do with how the frames are captured when a high-speed object is filmed. It’s called Rolling Shutter. Rolling shutter is a process of image capture in which a still picture (in a still camera) or each frame of a video (in a video camera) is captured not by taking a snapshot of the entire scene at a single instant in time but rather by scanning across the scene rapidly, vertically, horizontally or rotationally. Thus, not all parts of the image of the scene are recorded at the same instant – however, during playback, the entire image of the scene is displayed at once, as if it represents a single instant in time. This produces predictable distortions of fast-moving objects or rapid flashes of light, referred to as rolling shutter effect. It’s why you see things like this
  9. Trump did not take kindly to Musk being treated like he was in charge.
  10. For some of the MAGA types, this is exactly what it boils down to. In their heads, they’re not very far from turning that into “Hamas is building a base inside of the US” and Laura Loomer and others out there in that fringe far right are absolutely going to push this train of thought. They would be just fine with England or Norway or basically any European country (white people) outside of Turkey doing this. And if Qatar puts up some prayer towers with the loudspeaker that call people to prayer or whatever, holy shit. And there will be a mosque.
  11. I take a bit of an issue with this. It looks like Ukraine is going to keep up their campaign of going after Russian oil and gas infrastructure. The picture is gonna be very different when people are running out of gas in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and not just this current fuel rationing, not to mention things like food delivery to the large cities. Even if the pace of the attacks on the infrastructure slows down, the disruptions will probably affect food production/crop planting in the spring.
  12. That Qatari military base in America is going to cause a lot of problems for Trump. I’ve been impressed with the meltdown from some on the right today. If a vote was held today, it would be well above 218.
  13. No surprise, been mentioned before and we’ve seen footage of Russian soldiers shooting their wounded comrades. More at the links above The Twitter thread above mentions commanders reporting men as deserters to cut off their pay and benefits as a punishment or extortion. Also to prevent payments.
  14. “Russian air defense at work”
  15. Well, go ahead and book it - the Tomahawks will be sent, after Putin said Trump was bluffing. If you think he’s bluffing, you don’t publicly say that because it embarrasses him. Putin responded to Trump’s suggestion of possibly supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine by accusing him of bluffing and calling it “blackmail.” In turn, Putin said Russia would strengthen its air defenses. Air defense, what air defense? You cannot even protect your refineries against simple drones. ——- solid comment: “It looks like a pretty weak response, threatening to increase air defense means you are choosing to cope rather than take measures to eliminate the threat as a real great power would do.”
  16. Uh-oh... An explosion in Peresvet, Moscow Region, is being officially described as a “test” at the Rocket and Space Industry Research Center. However, reports indicate the release of highly toxic Heptyl rocket fuel. It's unclear whether this was a controlled trial or a failed launch. The UK has delivered hundreds of air defense missiles to Ukraine five months ahead of schedule, according to an official government statement. Additionally, Ukraine’s largest drone manufacturer has invested £200 million in drone production in the UK, creating 500 new jobs ———- It’s brilliant that Ukrainian companies are building facilities in other countries - they cannot be touched by Russian missiles or drones and can run 24/7 if needed.
  17. The Ukraine defense industry and those providing weapons and getting them proven in the field are going to be raking it in when this is over. Sierra Nevada Corp. has revealed new details about a closely held new air defense system that it claims has already helped down scores of aerial threats, though it won’t say where. At last week’s annual Air and Space Forces Association conference outside Washington, the company for the first time publicly displayed the Battery Revolving Adaptive Weapons Launcher—Reconfigurable (BRAWLR), which SNC says can carry up to four types of rockets and missiles at once to take out enemy drones and cruise missiles from the back of a pickup truck, a trailer or the ground. The company says the system gives troops an all-in-one defensive tool instead of forcing them to lug around multiple weapons launchers made by different companies. https://breakingdefense.com/2025/10/snc-brawlr-air-defense/
  18. I like her confidence that a few other Rs are going to vote to release the files.
  19. Are farmers in the countryside going to have access to fuel for tractors and trucks? If shit hits the fan, are those farmers going to want to ship to the city or processing plants or save it for themselves or the local black market? There’s already been some crop problems as it is. If there’s a reduction in food shipments from farms to the markets, and they are having problems with international markets and shipping, what happens with the large cities? That is all in the future though (spring) - we are heading into the winter, which helps a bit since they are mostly relying on food already harvested, processed, and stored, but they still have to move that food around from storage to market to home. And they may import food in the winter. I have faith that the black market is going to contribute to fucking things up as well.
