  1. Brady had quit playing professionally until Emmylou and Steve Earle convinced him to tour with each of them. I was waiting in line to get in to see Spyboy and Brady came cruising down the sidewalk. This venue is in a part of Atlanta with a ton of homeless people and trust fund 'artists' and jam band fans. Brady was carrying a plastic grocery bag and resembling Crackhead Clevon Little. He was starting to grow dreads and he was dressed like he had been on a bus all day....or under a bridge. I noticed people trying not to make eye contact with this 'homeless beggar' about to hit up everyone in line for some money. I walked towards him and shook his hand and he spoke to me for about 3 minutes then continued down the street. Got back in line and it was deathly quiet. I wonder if anyone recognized him when he went on stage.
  2. Found this picture on the Swart site. That is his living room where he records the majority of this stuff. He was in his 40s before he started getting the credit he deserved, thanks mostly to Emmylou and Steve Earle.
  3. I have been a HUGE Buddy Miller fan since the late 90s. Dude is a PHENOMINAL guitar player, GREAT country singer, songwriter, producer and all around great guy. I've been lucky to him with Emmylou, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch/David Rawlings, Patty Griffin, solo and with Julie. This article goes in to a lot about his gear which I thought this crowd would enjoy. Especially his $50 Wondre guitars. In the article, he talks about not playing fast as much anymore. https://www.premierguitar.com/nashvilles-buddy-miller Here is what he sounded like in 1996. I was lucky enough to see this incarnation of Spyboy.....maybe the greatest trio ever assembled. A balls-to-the-wall, full on rock-n-roll band. 4. What a bitch she is. And the guy just sits there and takes it? No fucking way.
  5. I once saw Morganna take a bubble-bath in a clear bathtub at some strip club. It made me proud to be an American.
  6. Yep. That song was on Copperhead Road, when he was just really getting started on his downhill side. A year and half later, when he released "The Hard Way", he was essentially a dead man walking.
  7. Are you zip tying them down or using velcro? The two things I liked was the holes to run the cables and the elevated deck.
  8. Crap. I never knew you loaned him that car.
  9. Yep. That is generally what I do. My other smaller board is a Nano+ as well. That bicycle chain is DEFINITELY more work that I would ever put in to this. My holey board was this model. I thought it was be a great idea. I hated the thing.
  10. My father-in-law was a mail carrier after WWII. Old style, walking mailman, delivering mail to houses in Omaha, NE. He apparently instilled the need for my wife to IMMEDIATELY get the mail from the mailbox. Our house could be on fire, a tornado coming, her arm lopped off in a freak chainsaw accident, and have a kid chocking from swallowing a lego piece, and she would stop and check the mailbox. No matter how late she is running, or where she needs to be, she will check the mailbox. Then, she brings an envelope to me, points at the return address and says, "What is in this envelop?" Same for packages. Get it from the front porch, bring it so me and say, "What's in here?" YEARS of me saying, "I don't know, but I have an idea. Let's open it and find out"? Still, every time..."What's in here?"
  11. I also just put the text from the Tweet up. For some reason the tweet itself didn't populate.
  12. This is from a previous post by him about a week ago. 6 months, today! No weed and not a single thought of doing harm to myself since I put it down. Amazing how changing things really changes things. Peace and love, y’all!
  13. Reminds me of Willie's joke. "Doctor to me I had to stop masturbating. But Doc....why?? I'm trying to examine you."
  14. Damn....that brings back some memories from the old site. What was the dude's name who was the huge Killing Joke fan? He was in to snakes and ended up dying in a car crash with one of his kids?
  15. Didn't know they recorded September Gurls. Cool job by them.
  16. I bought the first generation wooden holey board (arc model with the upper shelf). I tried zip tying the pedals on....didn't work on all pedals and didn't like the way it looked. I ultimately just put down some Velcro where I wanted the pedals, but again, it just looked sloppy and things were constantly getting unplugged or falling off when I moved it. There wasn't a good, safe way to transport, other then just picking it up by the top shelf or the handle at the end, and inevitably, something would fall off or at least get knocked loose. This new board is a PedalTrain Classic 1 and got the hard-shelled case. Just so much easier to transport it.
  17. Ha. This got bigger than I wanted. I doubt it leaves the basement very often. Mainly did it to get them all on one board instead of sitting on a desk/floor/shelf/rack. These were previously on a Holey Board and I HATED that setup for too many reasons to list. Thought it was cool when it first came out. It was not. I generally take out one of two different small boards. 1) Vol Pedal - tuner - compressor - Flashback delay - Cloudburst reverb. (church stuff) 2) Vol Pedal - MXR Distortion - Tremolo - Carbon Copy delay - HOF reverb
  18. Got it wired up. Vol - compressor- subnuo-dist-SCREAMER-mojo/soulfood- pinwheel- trem- delay- reverb. See how this goes. Tuner out of pedal.
  19. Dip in to that 401K boys and girls. Knopfler is having a garage sale. https://www.guitarworld.com/news/mark-knopfler-guitar-auction
  20. @troph That reminds me. I was in an Allsups this past summer in a town whose primary industries are farming, ranching, oil and meth. The girl behind the counter had probably had a tough life from the looks of her missing teeth and shitty tats. As I was leaving, I told her, "I hope you have a hassle-free day." She said, "Me too, but if I don't, I'll still be able to deal with it." I told her, "That right there is serenity in the wild." The look in her eyes and the grin she shot back powered me for the rest of the day.
  21. Screwing with the pedal board planner. And that TS is actually a Shaggy Screamer. When I play in our shitty band for my wife's church, I have the volume at the end on a much smaller board (just the Flashback and Cloudburst). I think for this I'm either going to run it first or after the second OD pedal. I'm still messing with the order of the two OD pedals and also using a Soul Food instead of the Mojo. Thoughts on vol. pedal? Anything else you would move? I'm also powering this with a Cioks DC10. Thought I'd give them a try.
  22. I saw them in 2016. I really didn't want to go because I couldn't imagine them still being as good as I remembered. I was WRONG. One of the best shows I've ever seen. I never really paid much attention to Fall At Your Feet, but live......with that extended extra chorus. I still get chills thinking about it. The joy in the crowds' individual and collective faces.
  23. This dude from the state looks like the stuttering defense attorney from My Cousin Vinnie.
