  1. Probably not for this thread, but if you could graph “societal decay” and “sociopaths in leadership positions” over time, I am pretty sure you would have two mirrored parallel curves up and to the right. C-suite execs, politicians, mega-church pastors. In far-too-many orgs, the Patrick Bateman’s are celebrated and elevated. They get shit done without concern for ethics or morality and rise to the top.
  2. On the bright side, "Swindler's List" will win 12 awards including best picture at the 2074 Academy Awards.
  3. The wildfire stuff is a legit concern. We are not there, but we got dropped by Geico for homeowners insurance earlier this year where we are at in central Colorado due to wildfire risk (we've never made a claim).
  4. Yep, in which case you probably want to factor that into your cost of living delta. For us, it was a not insignificant expense at 11,000 feet elevation near Breckenridge. Close to $3K a year.
  5. All of that should not be discounted. The only thing I’ll say is that we moved from Texas to Colorado when kids were 7, 5 and 3 and they handled that fine We moved to a lower elevation about an hour and a half away within Colorado when kids were 12, 10 and 8. This move was much harder on the older two than the move from Texas to CO. So if your kids are 10-18, I would definitely think hard about sticking it out for their remaining childhood years before uprooting them.
  6. Get an Airbnb for a week or two in the dead of winter and tell the owner you want to do all the snow removal during your stay. That will help you decide if you want to live that for 3 or more months a year.
  7. Billings is Midland with grizzly bears.
  8. They've figured out the winning strategy.
  9. Their focus was on single-handedly shitting the bed. Mission accomplished, I guess.
  10. I don’t disagree at all. Sark has more responsibility to the rest of the team and the University of Texas than he does to Ewers. If he wants to start Ewers, fine, Sark has earned some benefit of the doubt. But he has got to sit Ewers in any future games if he has another quarter like the 3rd.
  11. I don’t know what’s up with Ewers, but…. I don’t think we’re going to ride Wisner to either an SEC or national championship. So keep giving Arch some meaningful snaps in practice and in games and be ready to hit the eject button at any time on Ewers. We’re about to enter a single loss elimination tournament for all the marbles.
  12. This is a hell of a team with some pretty big juevos on everyone not #3. We win this week if we get mediocre QB play with no turnovers. That’s probably true of every game in the playoffs, too. Here’s to Sark playing the QB1 problem right.
  13. Lol at that Ewers stat line. 4/6 for minus 4 yards. 4/7 now.
  14. Tl;dr the Christian nationalists are eating the dogs and cats.
  15. Car talk not going away. Nothing makes me feel like more like an out-of-touch old man than test driving a new car with all the ridiculous bells and whistles they have on them. I don't need to be goosed in the ass when side sensors mistake a large snowflake for a car next to me. Get that shit out of my car and charge me less. I don't want to pay a premium for the dubious fucking privilege of being your data collector to help you obtain the massive amount of road data necessary to develop reliable self-driving cars. Just fucking give me a car with windshield wipers, cruise control, power steering and breaks, plus 4wd. Oh, and make it start with a goddam key. I didn't need a change to automobile's interface, you fucking morons.* * but please keep the backup camera in there, that shit's the bomb when you need to hook up a trailer
  16. The “white chicken” paranormal telecaster…
  17. We're going to be paying Elon and Peter Thiel reparations, aren't we?
  18. You have to like big butts and you cannot lie.
  19. Maybe? I don't know. We're both speculating on something we don't have direct insight into.
  20. It's all a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. If I had to guess, these policies are about manufacturing an economic/inflation crisis early (maybe even before he takes office) while throwing the previous administration under the bus for them. Then changing policies discreetly, removing the manufactured crisis and saying, "I fixed that." I mean, the election showed that a majority of people will accept that at face value should they bother to look outside their fish bowl.
  21. What is the United States if not a giant casino?
