  1. Just told the wife I want to go to Galveston next summer. Or spring break. She’s confused, but we’re going.
  2. Not sure I agree with that. Outback is ass dude.
  3. Great video, but missing the money shot
  4. Picked up the 2 plate pack at Costco (9.5lbs). How much meat will that yield? Also, without digging through the thread, any tips on time/temp etc?
  5. Secreto sounds appealing. We did a night at Ixchel with the kids before moving to a rental, and it’s definitely the perfect spot with kids. If we do Isla, Secreto + beach clubs might be a better fit. Not Isla, but since we don’t have the kids, my wife says she may want to do some of the excursion stuff vs sit around the beach. If we’re doing cenotes/ruins, what’s the best home base? Tulum?
  6. So what works?
  7. So I transferred some points to an airline to book flights back from Vegas not realizing it was a red eye. Those are now canceled, but I had points with an airline I don’t frequently use that were locked there. Obviously a great excuse to go back to Isla...this time sans kids. 3k more points and we’re going 4 nights in January. I’ve only been with the family. Where should we stay if it’s just the wife and I?
  8. That’s a surprising amount of self awareness from aggy. I don’t think it qualifies as just a little strange, but whatever.
  9. Sam gets it at least. “He’s feeling himself and he goes, ‘Are we gonna keep the foot on the gas or are we gonna get all conservative again?’ ” Herman said. “I said, ‘Hey, listen here. You play. I’ll coach. All right?’ And then we hug when it’s over.”
  10. #humblebrag
  11. Yes
  12. This is true. Aldi is HEB on German steroids. It wins on supply chain dominance, but still devotes a ton to food r&d for its product to remain at or above major brand quality.
  13. I never made it to mockingbird, but I’m a big fan of jack. He treats regulars like family...slowbone / m&m were good respites during a couple tough stays at children’s.
  14. So you’re saying if it’s not soup nazi execution, you don’t care for it?
  15. Can confirm. It’s hot as fuck. The pool at Ixchel was hot tub temp. Counter argument is it’s hot, but so is Texas and here you still get this: Playa Norte North Garden Chilaquiles Bastos Quesadilla (son’s dinner...but damn it was awesome) Bastos steak w. Verde sauce Also, Bastos was incredible. We rolled up around 4:30 with a group of 13 (half kids) and before we even got to the door, they already had a table setup for the group. Made a few pitchers of aguas frescas for the kids, margaritas for the adults and delivered a bunch of great food. I think between all the kids and adults, we sampled pretty much the entire menu - all awesome. We’ll do a quesadilla take out night once this week to give the kids/us a break from running around instead of the pizza we planned
  16. I love this thread.
  17. May not be quite shank quality, but it got the job done. Costco tacos - cheese and bacon egg bites, goolsby sausage patties, sour cream (a bit too much), herdez, and shitty tortillas from a ziploc found in the cabinet.
  18. Any good poker in Shreveport? May do an overnight this week for other reasons.
  19. This is a great point. Marvel at how good they are at taking money from you. It’s truly an art.
  20. Disney is made for planners. We had great success getting up early, being in the park and seeing what was important early (rides/characters/whatever) before the crowds of mongoloids on scooters (and it’s depressing how many people need them to get around). It’s easier to enjoy the little things amongst the crowds of mouth breathers once your itinerary is done. But in all honesty, your family will have a great time if you have a great time. Have a good attitude and set the stage for a good time. Planning makes it less of a beating since you’ll know what to expect. I’d recommend touringplans.com. I found the itinerary planning and expected wait times very useful.
  21. ....so he’s the greatest of all time? He has won at multiple schools.
  22. Lardo was my favorite there. We tried a few of the sandwiches because we went back 2 times over 4 days and enjoyed pretty much all of them.

I went a few weeks ago and had a similar experience. It was kind of heartbreaking.
  24. 27 days for us. Bringing some friends and all their kids. Any tips for dining with large groups? 6 adults, 7 kids.
  25. Thanks. I ended up with the G70...hopefully I don’t regret it. I wasn’t expecting to end there, but really enjoy driving it. Genesis has some dealership quirks to work out still, but I could see it becoming a pretty competitive luxury brand if they do. The dealership experience absolutely has to be fixed for them to be viable...I could see the Hyundai experience not working for most of the market.
