Everything is Shit: Tracking the Great Enshittening
Homercles replied to 956 Worldwide's topic in Daily Texan
Just wait until copilot is embedded into the OS and canāt be turned offā¦keep waiting for Apple to do the same on iOS. Itās not enough that they install 100+ cookies and max out my phoneās cpu with ads just to read an article, the entire OS needs to be a data vacuum that captures every interaction I have with it while constantly pushing their paid services as notifications. When that bubble does pop Iāll be interested to see what happens with all these monster data centersā¦anyone remember all that excess dark fiber from the .com bust? Except here the heavy money is invested in rapidly outdated racks of GPUs, though Iām sure the rest of the compute fabric depreciates more slowly. Opportunity for some enterprising person, like Switch did in Vegas. Of course none of the trechbro dickheads or obstinate c-suite types will likely ever admit it, but seems obvious to me that Transformer wonāt scale itself to sentience. Plenty of folks find it useful (or fall in love with it), but theyāre not going to be operating at massive losses forever so the usual flow of hooking people before raising prices may not work for trillion dollar chat bots. My guess is we see it go the way of Grok, highly valuable as a means to steal your data while spreading disinformation sold to the highest bidderā¦sorta like Plaintir. Gotta justify those capital outlays somehow -

Iām sure the odds are stacked in Bubbaās favor. After all his Walmart AR is covered with accessories worth more than the rifle, heās stockpiled an arsenal of Chinese ammo and āknows the terrainā. Those tabbed SF guys have only put ten thousand rounds through their match grade weapons, practically live outside as a career and are specialized in leading an unfamiliar army against you.

Soā¦vetoing the THC was just a ruse to call a special session for gerrymandering?

Or Google/Nest will sell you the Flood and Underwater Containment Kit - Universal, better known as the FUCK-U. Itāll happily monitor your water levels while collecting information to sell to your insurance company, will sporadically blare out ads for Pixel, and suddenly stop working in 3 years when Google decides to terminate the cloud service that operates it.

This ^ These are the same out of touch, overly compensated, good ole boys who are using GenAI as an excuse to RIF/offshore FTE, cut benefits, steal your data, heavy hand RTO to sweatshop offices, lobby reduced regulation for shit like asbestos, and beat the tech workforce into submission. This dude in particular was seemingly a professional snake oil salesman with a list of shattered startups trailing him and a few anecdotal comments saying heās an ass to work for. Heās the poster child for rich egomaniacs who are completely out of touch with the world 99% live in and are currently riding the oligarchy wave of āfuck you, Iām rich and Iām right and Iām untouchableā¦do as I say or spend six months looking for a jobā enabled by our current Pay To Play governmentā¦see Bezos, Musk, Zuck during the inauguration. Same reason diversity initiatives vanished. I just wish itād been that smarmy fuck Jamie Dimon whoād been busted.

Anyone who canāt see that there were failures at every level, from the federal government on down, isnāt worth the energy to argue with. In addition, Mystic will have blood on their hands and Iāll be amazed if it ever exists againā¦and if anything, all that pride in the history there proves they should have known better. Youāre ultimately responsible for hundreds of children and every account Iāve read has painted the picture of individual cabins being lead by teenagers suddenly finding themselves making impossible decisions. Where were the adults? They had their own impossible situations you say? Ok, the whole point in designing, testing and practicing emergency plans is to take the time to think through ahead of time such that those decisions are made adtee careful analysis and can be executed without central coordination. They had an approved plan but it happened too fast? They should have had an adult with a flashlight in communication with relevant info sources, fellow camp administrators, and local authorities. Youāre on a river during a huge storm, for fucks sakeā¦with hundreds of children under your care, remember Yes it was unprecedented, no one foresaw the Charybdis-like whirlpool that complicated matters, and I cannot imagine the desperate horrors all the victims sufferedā¦but when you sign up to manage hundreds of children for weeks at a time in a particularly dangerous spot within āflash flood alleyā then at the bare fucking minimum you better have your flood evac plan down cold, with multiple levels of severity. You should be fuckin ashamed of yourself TF. You arenāt, but you should be. My wife seemingly is afflicted with the same memory-influenced fondness from her time there that she doesnāt want to hear my utter disdain for how colossally Mystic fucked upā¦but this is Surly and Iām allowed to say youāre wrong as fuck, Texas Fight. I didnāt even touch on sirensā¦the fact people died because their brain was so poisoned by the disinformation machine as to reject free warning systemsā¦you fucking people are too far gone to help, but thanks for attending my TED Talk.

My law degree is from The Wireā¦so youre saying that dude was their Levy to D&B Enterprises, and that all the pieces matter?

Gotta love the āregulations bad, free market goodā exuberance from the GOPā¦it trickles down into every corner under the mistaken belief it makes things cheaper and encourages innovation. No, dumbassesā¦regulations are usually there to protect you the individual/small business and often written in blood. Removing them are in the interests of large, faceless corporate behemoths who want to poison your water, reject your healthcare claims, deny you coverage, and do shit like have āAIā companies running nuclear power plants to supply data centersā¦you want rivers that catch on fire again, Cleveland? Iāll never understand how people not only vote against their interests, but have been brainwashed to do it every single time. You had grown ass men and women rejecting free funding to better their communityās emergency preparedness for fear ofā¦what exactly? I tell people I would absolutely love to get the fuck out of Texas, but while in Michigan I saw a dozen MAGA/Trump flags on the 30m drive from Sault St Marie to St Ignace and a ~12yo kid staying at The Grand on Mackinack who wore a different MAGA hat everydayā¦

Every single level of this thing had at least one hole in the Swiss to make it happenā¦makes me think of AF 447 where the dumbass FO pulling full deflection on the yoke all the way down to the Atlantic shoulders the blame, but also their training + poor CRM + the pitot probes + the way Airbus handled dual input on the side sticks. - Mystic for not being proactive, not posting watch, no effective internal comms once power was lost, shitty evac plans, even way back with flood plain exceptions even if my 8yo could tell you itāll flood there someday. - Kerrville residents who drank the raw MAGA kook aid to the point of refusing free money to better their community - Kerrville and county leadership for humoring that bullshit multiple times and dismissing the danger before hand, and that bullshit pc where he stormed off in his camo hat for the slightest bit of criticism - State leadership for patting themselves on the back and fellating Trump on tv, Abbott for his football/loser statement, etcā¦also see 2021 freeze, Uvalde, hurricanes, etc -TrumpCo for killing essential services, putting Kang and Kodos clones in key positions, dumbass rules that hindered aide flow, etc. Been thinking the same thing someone else said..I sure hope the dads are getting organized to hold accountability at every level and not just Mystic, because if losing your child is still not enough to flip your political switch away from this madness then Iām shoving Brisket out of the way as I run past him off the ledge.

Once again, if Sandy Hook didnāt move the needle with those people then nothing will. They will do anything to protect the cult leader and any empathy they pretended to have has been long gone in the name of āthe causeā.

I too have been to multiple dispensaries in legal states. The products may be more limited, but Iāve found them to be completely consistent and without fear of being in the waiting zone ādid I get a bunk one orā¦holy shit I may have made a mistake, cancel all plans and lock all doors code green I repeat code greenā. That alone is nice

Millions upon millions of dollars in slow-to-replace assets being wasted as a dick measuring exercise. And I guarantee China/Russia/NK are watching, scoring and vacuuming up all the RF they can just like we would be. Men will do anything to avoid going to therapy

Soā¦yesterday wake-up to see we may be at war with Iran (currently in the UK). Today wake-up up to Abbott being sensible to kill SB3. Welcome back to 2025. Gov statement, special session to apply common reasonable regulation (absolutely want child resistant packaging because even if we keep ours in a lockbox, many donāt) https://gov.texas.gov/uploads/files/press/VETO_proclamation_SB_3_IMAGE_2025-06-22.pdf Assume Abbott did this for his own political play as a Pub prez candidate, to extract money from the industry, or just put Patrick in his place as a preemptive maneuver. Regardless of reasons:

Yeah thatās where I wonder what exactly they were movingā¦as we saw with Stutz net, those centrifuges are unbelievably fragile and susceptible to even minor disruption. Makes sense as they spin at something like 30,000rpm and even interrupting the power will destroy them.   My basic understanding is that the enrichment cascade is the most challenging and resource-intensive getting from ~5% to ~60% or so. After that, the process moves along much faster. Itās possible they were unloading their latest batch of enriched Uranium hexafluoride, or whatever raw materials (like yellow cake) out before the expected strike. Dont get me wrongā¦taking out a seriously hardened facility like that is a good thing in general, but everyone on planet earth knew we had plans on precisely how to take it out without any regional bases so seems this wasnāt some crippling blow beyond losing the facility.

Shit someone probably told Papa Putin, or it was just so predictable. Then again itās hot there so maybe a slew of Kona Ice making bank https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/06/22/satellite-images-show-activity-at-irans-fordo-before-us-air-strikes.html https://www.newsweek.com/iran-nuclear-strikes-us-donald-trump-fordow-satellite-imagery-unusual-activity-2088918

Man what a thing to wake up to (family trip in the UK)ā¦ignoring the politics for a second, thereās evidence from satellite photos that a convoy of trucks removed material a couple days ago and we just used up nearly the entire stockpile of very specialized and expensive weapons (half a billion to manufacture ~12) on a dry hole. Boeing is happy. Theyāll get another order thatāll keep the line running for a year or two. China and NK are happy. Those were designed for critical underground C3 facilities. Iran probably happy. They can spray IRBMs at assets much more vulnerable than Israel, such as American bases and ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Trumpco is happyā¦well maybe not, those things do not produce huge explosions for Fox to jack off over. But they can declare victory like they just took Utah but in reality probably prove more like scaling Pointe Du Hoc with no 155ās up there. Politicallyā¦I guess itās fuckin tradition at this point for a Pub prez to start a war in the sandbox for Dems to clean up later, being blamed the whole time for it.
