  1. Well, the new Ranger Crew got here this week. The winch, windshield, brush guard, and Ride Command are still at the dealer. Wasn't supposed to be ready until next Tuesday, but CHIEF Jr. couldn't wait. He'll have 20 hours on it this weekend. Gonna let the dealer do the first service, then take it from there. Of course he can't not have a thumping sound system to take the nubile young lasses around the neighborhood. It was bought for the hunting lease but also serves as a pussy wagon. Gonna have 4" portal boxes and 33's shortly. CHIEF
  2. Had a college girlfriend at UNT that always wanted to meet at the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens for sex. We would do it in the passenger seat of her 89' Camaro, or if she was feeling adventurous, under a blanket while watching kids play soccer by the picnic area. CHIEF
  3. Nice place. Sleeping is a bitch up there. When I lived in Durango, CO, it took a while to be able to sleep due to the lower oxygen. I also had to sleep for about a month with a wet washcloth over my nose, the extremely low humidity would give me nosebleeds during the night. CHIEF
  4. Upgrayded to a newer model with less miles. CHIEF
  5. Girl in my dorm my freshman year of college lived in Leadville and worked at the FBO. They used to give you a token certificate for flying into Leadville. CHIEF
  6. For DFW peeps, the drive from Santo on Hwy. 4 through Lone Camp, Palo Pinto, and on to Graford is a nice drive. It goes through the Palo Pinto mountains (hills). All of Bosque county is a beautiful drive as well, Clifton to Cranfills Gap (FM219), Cranfills Gap to Iredell, Iredell toWalnut Springs. Hwy. 51 from Granbury through Paluxy to Chalk Mountain on the Somerville/Erath county line is my favorite road to go to The Loco Coyote. All are great bike roads. Bike bars in Cranfills Gap, Walnut Springs, and Lone Camp, not really "biker bars" but always have 4-5 out front. CHIEF
  7. My electrician has a 2013 Taco with almost 400K on it. He put the TRD Supercharger on it as soon as it came out of warranty. The supercharger is actually built by https://www.magnusonsuperchargers.com/category-s/123.htm. For what it is, it's a rocketship. I think it's been in the shop once or twice, but that's about it. It's a manual as well, which is no longer available. Great truck.
  8. Do you have an ag exemption? Or is the place big enough? CHIEF
  9. My Dad would keep a cow that dropped twins in the working pens. He would run her through the chute each day and rub kerosene on her nose so she couldn't tell the calves apart. She would eventually give up trying to decide which calf was the one that she had decided to keep and accept them both. Out of our 350 head, we usually had one or two cows with twins At feeding time, we would feed them separate from the other cows to make sure they got enough to supplement raising two calves. CHIEF
  10. DNH, is that where you got the long-term condo lease? I looked at either a partial purchase or long-term lease there about 10 years ago. CHIEF
  11. So you got electric cutouts and huge pop-off valves. That's cool as shit on a Superwagon. CHIEF
  12. My Mom worked a short stint at E-Systems/Chrysler, off of Hewitt Dr. back in the 80's. She went in the first day, and they were trying to build wiring harnesses without using pegboards. It was a fiasco for sure. So she and a friend that was an EE built all of the pegboards. It's been a long time since I've been on this thread. I just didn't have the time and money to pursue flying anymore. I worked at the FBO in Clifton all throughout college. Got my pilot's license on my 17th birthday. It looks like I'll be back in after CHIEF Jr. gets out of college and gets a good ME job. We are going to build a Kitfox SS7, for STOL purposes. I'm not even going to have him get his license in anything but a taildragger. One of his good friends has a Super Cub he can teach him in, but more than likely he will get his license in the Kitfox. We have two airstrips in our subdivision, and a lot of Lockheed retirees that have built about a dozen RVs that fly outta here. We have a very active EAA chapter https://eaa983.org/wp1/ here, and I've done dope and fabric work before. We get formation flights coming by (I'm on Final Approach about 600 yards from the end of the runway with a South wind) and a guy that gives two hour airshows on every ice cream day. He is a badass, tail slips, flat spins, loops, etc. We just sit on the back porch and watch. CHIEF
  13. We had one at our lease in Aspermont. That fucker was huge. like four feet long huge. My uncle walked up on him one morning in the dark by accident, he was curled up next to a cedar tree. Uncle thought he had walked up on a thousand rattlesnakes when he started shaking his quills. CHIEF
  14. Same here. I will rarely carry, since I'm not usually dressed for it. It fits fine in cargo shorts side pockets, however unfashionable that may be. But my 365 stays in the truck 99.99% of the time. I rarely go anywhere that I feel uncomfortable, I haven't been even to Ft. Worth in over two months, and go into Granbury maybe once a week. There is absolutely nothing to worry about in Granbury. CHIEF
  15. Throckmorton, Texas 2006ish. Heading to the hunting lease, CCL had just come out. Didn't have one, was unarmed. Three guys fresh out of prison and their cousin were fucking with people on the road between Breckenridge. They were running about 60, so I passed them, it pissed them off. High speed chase all the way to Throckmorton, my 3/4 Dodge was faster than their Aurora. I pulled into the restaurant where my buddies and family always meet, 2-3 of them had CCLs, so I was going to have help, but I had gotten their before any of them. I see the guys in the Aurora hit the ditch and turn around, I already had boost built, threw it in reverse when they ran up behind me and parked the truck in the middle of their hood, so they had no get away car. Told CHIEF Jr. I loved him very much, but Dad was probably about to die. Anyway, I had a box cutter, and backed myself into the door jam. It was me against 4 guys that probably outweighed me by 20-30 lbs. each. I was able to cut them up so bad between punches that it freaked them out enough they quit pummeling me and ran across the street to the hospital. The only LEO in 60 miles pulled up and absolutely ripped me for not being armed. It really hammered home that it is better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it. CHIEF
  16. I agree. But I think we are looking at a new business model developing. There will be a decline in full service businesses that offer materials, installation, servicing, and warranty. It's going to be up to the consumer to source those on their own. You can't blame consumers for wanting to get the best price, and you can't blame the labor for wanting to make as much as possible, especially if they aren't receiving benefits through the company. They get a 1099 at the end of the year anyway. It will finally be the end of the Mom and Pop businesses. My main concern is what is this doing to our tax base with so much cash under the table, and the ability to hide cash and draw unemployment benefits. CHIEF
  17. It's their fucking business model. Draw unemployment benefits, get paid in cash, work when you feel like it. CHIEF
  18. No, it is worse than that. They are expecting them to pad business operations and material expenses with bogus receipts and pay them in Benjamins. It takes some unmitigated gall. They are starting to flood social media marketplaces, and are now competing with legitimate businesses, and will do the labor, if you supply the materials. If you are outside the city limits there isn't any code enforcement. CHIEF
  19. They hit up the local DFW trade schools. A lot of the guys coming out want to be compensated as though they have been there for a few years. A lot of weeding through rocks to find the diamonds. It's not really hard to be a diamond, show up for work, be dependable, do your job right, and have a good attitude. When they get where they can get quicker and take on more service calls, their pay increases proportionately, they get bonuses, etc. With skyrocketing material costs, it is tough raising your labor rate 25-30%. Business owners are worried that customers will choose to delay projects, or cancel them entirely. Or worse, use the cash guys on the side. CHIEF
  20. It has been a long time since I have paid a tip in cash, and looking around my local watering hole, it seems as though that cash tips are few and far between. It could be another reason it is hard to find waitstaff. Granted, you don't have to fight for the bartender's attention, like at Billy Bob's, or any other concert venue, but tip jars and extra cash laying on top of the cc receipt is sparse. CHIEF
  21. Wow. Didn't even think about that. She has a CC purse. I've taught her to be very aware of her surroundings. For her, it is mainly walking into the Houston office, the hotel, and going to eat at night. She has a hammerless revolver and can pull it quick from her purse, but that would do little good if she lost her purse. Also, I am like you AB, in that I respect property or business owners wanting to keep their premises gun free. I can choose wether or not to go there, and respect their decision. Their property rights supersede my 2nd amendment rights in my mind. Life, and property are two of the main tenants of why we have the 2nd Amendment. CHIEF
  22. Flipped the axle on the huntin' trailer to get across the river and up a hillside to camp. I have 14" of ground clearance at the lowest point (sewer connect). Kyler Murray can walk under it without hitting his head. CHIEF
  23. I'd take 281 to Wichita Falls. You could have chicken fried steak at Jake and Dorthy's in Stephenville, then a burger at Herd's in Jacksboro, followed by another chicken fried steak at Murn's in Archer City, then a grilled steak at the Big Texan in Amarillo. You would be fat as fuck. But those are all good eatin'. Or you could get a "to go" order at Herd's and Murn's, you would have good food for the whole drive to Denver. CHIEF
