  1. Mrs. CHIEF has a shit ton of Southwest points from a while back, when she was going to LA every other week. It will pay for all the airfare. Not a shit ton for some of you on here, but a bunch for us. She is a penny pincher. CHIEF
  2. Been looking for a dive trip for the last couple of days. Was looking at Grand Cayman after Hate's posts, but it looks like we are gonna have to go to Coz again, unless things change between now and June. The Carribean is still bottled up with COVID restrictions. It may be a while before they get vaccines. CHIEF
  3. Or a Poke' bowl. Looks great none the less. CHIEF
  4. My BIL once told me about these excellent steaks he bought from Walmart. Told him I refused to buy my trailer tires and steaks at the same place. It's the principle damn it. CHIEF
  5. Lol. Almost. But I love both of them. Reminds me riding with my Mom in her old Thunderbird. CHIEF
  6. Since it's original, headers won't do much for the price you would pay. It's old enough that you can ditch the cats, and put on a Magnaflow straight through muffler. Could probably have all of that done for $300. CHIEF
  7. Sorry to stir up so much controversy. My son is just between a rock and a hard place. His friends are starting their careers, he is working, and still has three semesters to go. He needs to quit with the college aged "fairy princess' " and start dating the young professionals. Of the two hot but dumb girls, one will be a waitress for all her life, the other has done flunked out of her primary University. There is nothing wrong with them, he just has his sights in the dating pool, and possible prospects a bit higher. Troph is right, in dating, he is definitely his Mother's son. I was a promiscuous opportunist, something I shouldn't be proud of, and really I'm not. But to be honest, it's hard for a leopard to change it's spots, and I have to admit I sometimes live vicariously through him. I questioned his judgement a lot more when we had a college party at the house every weekend, but they ended about a year ago. Everyone has moved to the big city, and nothing is really going on around here. We really don't have discussions about his dating habits anymore. He just laid it on the line last night. He is on a self-imposed drought till the "geese" return for the summer. Urban versus rural dating really is very different. You can't burn any bridges, the circle is too small. At least with the worthy candidates. A job, COVID, and school keeps you from running into DFW on the weekends. Summer on the Lake, and partying at Sandy Beach can't get here soon enough. CHIEF
  8. Yep. Out here in the rurals, they are still plugging away, looking for the right one. It amazes me how many kids and young adults no longer have hobbies of mutual interest. A lot stay holed up in their rooms gaming for hours on end, or stuck on social media (I don't know of many girls under 25 that are not on social media for 50 minutes out of an hour), or watching cartoons. A lot were like that even before COVID. CHIEF Jr. knows what he wants, a smart gal that loves to fish, hunt, has ambition, likes cars and helping work on them, likes to wake surf. In our area, there are some of those out there. There are also some out there that are openminded and adventurous that probably love those things, they just don't know it yet. Those are the things we love in our family, and what he was brought up in. Mrs. CHIEF was smart, had ambition, loved to hunt and fish, but it was me that instilled a love of collectible and fast cars. Her love for me and my interests made her interested. Relationships are tough enough, I can't imagine how awkward and stressful it would be to try to have a conversation with someone you just started dating and had none of the same interests or beliefs, but a large percentage of young adults entering the dating pool find themselves in that very situation. Many just give up, instead of doing the obvious, make yourself interesting. CHIEF
  9. This is where today's generation gets fucked. Before the internet, the FWB had the same ratio of one of the two FWBs end up getting attached. They generally sat down and discussed the situation, one of the two got their feelings hurt, and told their sob story to a close group of friends, and it was over. Now the offended party broadcasts it all over Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, and that side of the story is taken as gospel. FWB is a dangerous proposition in the present, for this generation. I think it's the reason we are seeing the proliferation of Sugar Babies, and will soon see the proliferation of Boy Toys. Young adults will have to seek out more mature FWBs, because they know the rules. CHIEF
  10. I'm sure he didn't watch it all, but I skimmed it and he watched the important parts. The pandemic with bars closed, and no summer on the lake, is the biggest factor in my mind. He is a senior at Tarleton, and they have had in class teaching this whole academic year. But probably over half take their classes online. Unfortunately ME classes at his level just cannot be taken online. The campus is small enough that you can't really ghost a girl you hooked up with. Not that he would do that anyway. Ft. Worth is where the young adults from around here go bar hopping, but it's been shut down for a year. For a year, his social circle has been a bunch of retirees in a country club bar with only two hot as fuck but dumb chicks his age. I'm about to build a small apartment at my shop, he may move over there. CHIEF
  11. Exactly. It can cause you to fuck 10,000 bitches, or be rejected by 10,000 bitches. CHIEF
  12. You know, we can learn a lot from this generation. I had CHIEF Jr. read the article and watch a video that WorkswithSeed sent me. Here is his summation of what a 20something's world is today: When you banged a chick, and dropped her, maybe 50-100 people knew. Most knew them personally and didn't blame you. City Limits (his bar) is closed. Now, everyone in town knows, and it eliminates your dating pool. Even the smart, good-looking ones avoid you until you can get in front of them. There are two ways to overcome the negative, explain the situation (usually doesn't go the way you want), or have enough money that they don't care. The kid makes bank, but we aren't "high rollers" by any means. We provide him room and board, but he takes care of the rest. You only have a vested interest in "out kicking your coverage". So, you are basically looking for a Unicorn. You are the catch that refuses to be caught. It is a perfect time for girls to be marrying up, because her social media pressure hamstrings you. The best thing to do, is keep mining, be extremely picky, or sit on the sidelines. He has taken the middle road. His Mom and I have been married for 27 years, and are as strong as ever. I can't blame him for looking for the same thing. Granted, he is small town, and looking for a single with no kids. But improper grammar, spelling, and doctored photos are a deal killer. Puppy Dog ears, and duck lips will get a "WTF". It's why we keep hearing the stupid and unmotivated are outbreeding the intellectuals of our society. We are racing to the lowest common denominator. CHIEF
  13. Mrs. CHIEF's "equal" in her company is in New Jersey. They have been really great friends for probably 15 years. She is big on cooking, and so am I. Mrs. CHIEF decided we needed to do a "food exchange" and send her all of the things that are the best of HEB, and she would send us the best of NY/NJ (these were mostly dry goods). We sent a lot of Fiesta brand spices, HEB Habanero Cheese Puffs, HEB Beef Jerky, Green Sauce, Julio Chips, we even sent a small styrofoam cooler of Julio salsa, some Mi Tierra raw tortillas, and some packaged cheeses. What did she send....Trader Joe's. I didn't have the heart to tell her we have one on Hulen that I can get to in under an hour. I'm sure there are better items she could send, but I can get all of mine within 30 minutes, it would probably take her 3-5 days. CHIEF
  14. He got caught twice by his momma bangin' Chicks in the house. Mrs. CHIEF was very displeased. I've promised not to rat him out. Told Mrs. CHIEF he is a man, and if he wants to he can bang a gal in his room anytime he wants. I had to remind her that the first time she took me to her parent's house, she jumped me in her bedroom with her parents sitting in the living room. I thought that was going to end poorly for me. But you are right, he is pretty discrete. CHIEF
  15. I can't imagine going through $180k worth of ammo in a minute. CHIEF
  16. Young folks are just too damn picky nowadays. We have an absolute smoking hot bartender/waitress down at the 19th Hole that hits on CHIEF Jr. all the time. I always ask him why he doesn't just paint the walls with her. I would have at his age. He thinks she is dumb and immature, which is a no go for him. I encouraged him to just fuck her but not marry her. Same thing with one of our cart girls, her old man is loaded, has a big charter boat on the coast, bad ass house. CHIEF Jr. talked to her about 20 minutes one night. Said she was dumb as a sack of hammers. He was dating this hot 24 year old when he was 20, she would drive over 2 hours to come to our house on the weekends. One weekend she just stopped coming. I asked him what the deal was. He said her parents are weird, and won't let her have company over, so he dropped her. Kids now days, I don't get it. No "one night Stands", no "two ships passing in the night". Its like they won't get intimate with anyone that they wouldn't consider marrying. I guess that's good, but you sure are missing out on a lot of snatch. CHIEF
  17. That would be fucking awesome if they acquired Brookshire's. Our little neighborhood store, about a half mile away, is Brookshire's based. It was a David's, and was bought out by Brookshire Bros. It has quite the Texas selection, but I would absolutely shit if it ended up as an HEB Pantry store. Just read, apparently they shuttered that approach, but they would have over 7000 people and a captive audience, if they bought our store out. CHIEF
  18. The great thing about HEB, and something you don't realize until you don't have one, is how Texas centric their products are. Their products are tailored to Texas' tastes, and meal plans. Yankee stores (Albertsons and Kroger) are rather bland and generic. There is a vast difference in their spice isle at HEB, packaged cheeses that are available, meat cuts, tortilla selection, and others. HEB has a strong South Texas and Mexican influence, along with Louisiana, fresh juices, and guacamole, a great seafood selection. They even own their own shrimping fleet on the Texas gulf coast. To me, they are the flagship company of what it means to be Texan. My first bill when HEB opened up in Granbury was over $1000, mainly restocking my depleted spice cabinet, and restocking on wine, and Texas beers. DFW is in for a real treat. CHIEF

    AMMO THREAD

What grain are you shooting for deer out of that? Zero knowledge of the 243. May get one for the kiddo this fall and pass it on to his brother in a few years. Or may just tell him to buck up and shoot my old 270. Not sure. My first rifle was a .243 that I shot from six years old until the present day. It has had 100gr. Core-Lokts as the only ammunition shot through it the entire time. It's still my favorite gun I own. It's a deer and hog killing machine. I still remember the first time CHIEF Jr. heard the Whiskey Meyer song Ballad of a Southern Man. The opening lines are: "My first rifle was a .243, that Poppa gave to Daddy and Daddy gave to me". Talk about wide eyes and a grin from ear to ear. Don't necessarily agree with the message of the song, but it came on the radio. CHIEF
  20. We have had an HEB in Granbury for about 10 years. About 5 years later Kroger built a huge store directly across the street, probably paid 4X as much for the land, at least. The HEB parking lot is always full, Kroger has probably a quarter of the customers. I worked in management for a small stint at HEB. The margin....1% (gross). THAT was the target margin for our store. We were close to the Super Walmart at 620 & 183, and the margin is adjusted for the demographic, and proximity to competitors. HEB has it down to a science, they are the most cutting edge grocer with the best house products, packaging, and marketing in the industry. We grossed about $9-10mm per week, so that was still acceptable to HEB for presence in the area. CHIEF
  21. Yep, about 5-6 years ago I spent A LOT of time in Archer City, between O&G, and our deer lease being there. No one had seen him in a long time. I don't know what they are going to do with his bookstore, it occupies every previously abandoned building around the square and along the major roads. I would suggest they offer a book that came out of "famous author Larry McMurtry's Archer City bookstore" for $5 plus shipping and handling for anyone that would purchase one, and buy a rubber stamp for authentication. It would be the biggest windfall that town has seen in decades. An irrelevant town just became a lot more irrelevant. CHIEF
  22. I went battery powered and this hoss is one of the best things I ever bought. The battery will last 4-6 hours. https://www.rcpw.com/equipment/electric-chainsaws/CS1804.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwgOGCBhAlEiwA7FUXknC9oWbWvxm8SeI5RhEGxGIxSQczemkbVirA1axIHmoxScXM4uIomxoC7_sQAvD_BwE CHIEF
  23. Well, I only got one sack of field run for $3.40/lb. The other three sacks were select and $4.15/lb. Was loading them up and one of the distributor workers handed me two bushels of oysters and said "don't forget these." CHIEF
  24. What was the first thing you bought with your first NFL check? How many Baby Mommas you got? Are $100 handshakes a real thing? Did your education help you for life after football? Do you have to buy your own drinks in Austin? CHIEF
  25. Yep. Bourbon is conspicuously missing. That is a "high roller" necessity. Oh, and Bud Light for Steel Shank. CHIEF
