  1. Forgot to add him. CHIEF
  2. Yep. A laser timed 4.4x 40 yard guy, is going to run a 10.6 100 meter or better. Texas has two, for sure in X and Brennan Thompson, and maybe Jamison. I doubt any team has more than 5-6 at the most. Shipley was plenty fast, probably ran a 4.4x hand timed, but would be a 4.5x laser timed. Same with Quan Cosby. CHIEF
  3. Mine is insulated, but it was going to a buyer in Alberta, Canada. It's really big inside, so it still took a lot of propane to warm up. I went through a propane container about every three hunts. Uninsulated, I would think you would go through a container per hunt, you would need to leave the heater on at all times instead of intermittent. For what Travis will charge to insulate the blind, it is worth it. We hunt fairly close to each other, the temperatures are a lot closer to Kansas than South Texas. CHIEF
  4. It's simply Maslow's Theory. Once your basic needs are met, though, I think it jumps past esteemed and straight to self-actualization. The best two weeks I have had, in the last two months, was two weeks with no TV, and limited internet. Just me and CHIEF Jr., in the middle of nowhere, hunting, bullshitting, not hitting a paved road for two weeks, eating Ramen for lunch, and looking at stars. Talk about a life reset. CHIEF
  5. Same. CHIEF Jr. has a kid he graduated with that has a few million Tiki's-Tok followers. He is worth probably seven or eight figures. He comes over here, he is just another "Snot nose". He comes by every time he is in town, I think he just likes being treated as another one of the kids. He started on Vine, so he was one of the first Tiki's-Tok influencers. His shit is unfunny to me, but I am an "Old". He says he is always happiest, here, or at home. Everyone has their own perspective. You choose your happiness. CHIEF
  6. I'm gonna plant an extra row, just for that remark. Also, let me know if you need some ducks for gumbo, we slayed them this year. CHIEF
  7. Yep, Deadshank, bullzack, and HB have done what I have. Unplug and tune this shit out. CHIEF Jr. has no social media, at 23, and refuses to date any gal that does. Got rid of Tinder, Snapchat, etc...and is much happier for it. None of my family watches anything but local news, so we can watch the weather. Spend my time here, for any social media. Wife and I both have Facebook that we check on family and friends and their kids (offer condolences for deaths, happy anniversaries and birthdays). We may check it once a week each. Social activities are Wednesday night at The 19th Hole, where we know everybody. We catch up on what's happening in the neighborhood. Saturday night is a fire in the fireplace on the back porch where we each invite a few friends over. I am perfectly happy going over to the shop to tinker to get out of the house, if I have no real estate showings scheduled. I'm getting ready to plant a garden. Life has never been better. CHIEF
  8. I ran identical times at his age. He runs a good curve, and is a bit slow out of the blocks. I'm not sure how good of a track coach he has, but could possibly be a 10.7 guy with a good coach that can teach you how to set up your blocks. That didn't happened to me until college, and you realize you are faster than you thought. CHIEF
  9. Ian Boyd standing behind AJ Milwee? CHIEF
  10. I spoke with one of the game wardens before season. I asked him should we use a bow, or rifle. He asked if I had "a hundred yard gun". I told him my son had a .450 Bushmaster. He told me to leave it in the blind, and always shoot towards the river. He said with a bow, you never know whose yard they may die in, they may not let you take it, and it would just sit and rot. The .450 was what he killed the two deer with when he used the blind. CHIEF
  11. I'm not saying that it is ideal, but much like being an Armenian in the Ottoman Empire, I would hate to be a non-Aryan in a Ukrainian civil war. I have yet to see Putin practice "ethnic cleansing". The situation is much like a "goat eating grass burrs". CHIEF
  12. The "out" to me, seems to be to tell Vlad to go ahead and clean up the Ukrainian shitshow, as most Ukrainians would probably be better off under Russian control. But the Baltics have shown they can govern themselves effectively, and are NATO members. Thus they will be protected by members of NATO, and an attack on them will be defended as would any attack on any NATO member (Germany, France, UK, or USA). CHIEF
  13. This is all the rage in my subdivision up by Granbury. We have several thousand on 4700 acres in a river bend. 1200 head need to be taken a year just to maintain a healthy population. I have 6 acres in the bend, but not in the HOA. I have had friends come and take about 30 deer during this year's season, including the local game wardens. You have the totally unreasonable that want no deer taken. The somewhat unreasonable that don't want netting. And the reasonable that want them all taken by any reasonable humane way possible. Nextdoor is rife with drama, the "I was near a net, when it dropped, and heard the poor deer crying out in pain and terror." and "my daughter saw deer fighting for their lives, and said it will scar her for the rest of her life" crowd get laughed at, and made fun of, which they should. Overpopulations of deer end up with Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), and Anthrax, which they spread to each other and to other species through eating after each other, and drinking from common watering spots. Anthrax can also be spread to humans through contact with an uncooked carcass or meat. We had a bulletin sent to us this year by the ranch foreman on our lease to not touch any dead deer carcass we came across that showed no bullet hole as there had been several cases of Anthrax found in King county. CHIEF
  14. With years of rampant corruption, Neo-nazi "municipal Guards" roving the streets and beating people, and the growing concern of a massive civil war on the horizon. A war that could possibly lead to genocide. It sounds as though Ukrainians have no business governing themselves, or ever having the opportunity of becoming a NATO partner. I have a tough time giving a shit whether or not Russia invades. It's like two shitty siblings rolling up their sleeves and squaring off, and Mom coming in and putting each of them in a corner. Agree with a lot of others in this thread. We have some very interesting Surlyfolk, with interesting jobs, connections, and information. CHIEF
  15. CHIEF Jr. and his buddies shot two 3 man limits this weekend at the lease: One spot they found this afternoon, he estimated had 700 birds on it. We are supposed to take 10 men out for the spots they found this next weekend to shoot two days worth of ten man limits. Both of his buddies guide duck hunts, and neither has been part of a ten man limit. One of them shot a pintail that is mount worthy to bring home. CHIEF
  16. It should taste better and have a meatier breast than a pure wild turkey, genetic engineering and all that. CHIEF
  17. You have a domestic turkey in the woodpile. CHIEF
  18. I took a rapid test, and barely had a showing on the Covid positive line, I should be negative by tomorrow. To be honest, I've had allergies that were worse than this. Not being an immunologist, if you get Omnicron, does this give you antibodies that will provide protection from the initial strain and Delta? Hoping to see light at the end of the tunnel, that this fiasco can end. CHIEF
  19. I'm hoping Marion can work magic with Washington and Dixon. Washington was an All-American in high school, played in the AA game. Dixon was higher rated than most of the WRs we have been anxious to pull out of the portal. Maybe a developmental coach will be the difference. CHIEF
  20. We all have our own "loogie bucket". If you can keep from swallowing your sinus drainage, it will help keep your throat from getting sore, or lessen it. It will also lessen the chance that you will get the bronchitis that is associated with this strain. It's gross as fuck, but effective. Today, I feel fine, had some fatigue so I slept till 12:20. CHIEF
  21. The first two were rapid tests (she had them from work). I assume the hospital used a rapid test as well, as we had her results about 15 minutes after they tested her. Neither myself or CHIEF Jr. took a test, he was assumed positive after exhibiting the same symptoms. I'm still "up in the air" about being positive, but staying quarantined anyway. CHIEF
  22. Mrs. CHIEF started feeling bad Wednesday, lost her voice, headache, sore throat, bad cough, she chalked it up to allergies. Tested negative on Thursday. I started her on Amoxicillin and Guafinex that I found in the medicine cabinet at her mother's house, in Cedar Park. Her mother had been in hospice for a week, and finally passed on the same Thursday. The funeral was supposed to be today. Sunday morning, she still wasn't getting better, so I made her take another test, and she tested positive. Talk about a meltdown. No way was she going to miss her mother's funeral. Luckily we were able to postpone it for a week. Here brother has been staying at their mother's house. I quickly loaded Mrs. CHIEF, and CHIEF Jr. and drove back to Granbury, we stopped at the ER in Glen Rose, where there were zero other patients in the waiting room. They tested her again, and she was for sure positive. The rotating ER doc was our regular doctor, he said he was treating symptoms just like an infection from severe cedar allergies (Guafatussin, dexamethasone, Zpack, and amoxicillin). She is better already, but CHIEF Jr. is about two days behind her, so she is sharing her meds until we can get him a round. He was running 102 degree fever two nights ago. If I have it, which I don't know anyway I could have avoided it at this point, my symptoms are like a mild allergy, almost asymptomatic. We are J&J vaxxed. To be honest, Austin, Cedar Park, and RR was like a war zone compared to rural areas where people are more spread out. The population centers are getting crushed. CHIEF
  23. He sure knows how to get open. Most of those receptions, no one was within 5 yards of him. CHIEF
  24. There is a “speed trap ahead” sign going into Covington from Hillsboro on private land. All the small towns south of DFW are speed traps. Grandview, Covington, Alvarado, Keene, Joshua, and Rio Vista. That’s six towns within 25 miles of each other. In Lipan, west of Granbury, the officers take shifts sitting across from town hall. They are there 100% of the time except on holidays. My family has bought radar detectors for Christmas over several years. I still have an older V1 that needs to be updated CHIEF Jr. and Mrs. CHIEF run Uniden R7s. CHIEF
