    AMMO THREAD

At this show CHIEF Jr. said there were some NATO suppliers that contracted their ammo to be produced in Bosnia, several suppliers, in fact. The both across from them was one of them. 5.56 was 70 cents per round at their booth. He said he saw some at 50 cents per round. The lady that was at the booth selling it at 70 cents thought at 50 cents they were either loosing money, or barely breaking even. There is another one this weekend March 13-14. CHIEF
  2. Cupp's is greatness, definitely the best in Waco.. There was a cockroach in the bathroom in the 80's that was so big, I thought it was going to mug me and steal my wallet. But the burger was worth it, less than a mile from Health Camp and the Circle. CHIEF
  3. He would powerwash his, but apparently the tolerance are pretty tight on the frame, and it is tough to get enough velocity on the water to wash it out. The smell was his biggest complaint. The one KE posted looks to be a better design. CHIEF
  4. Yep, that is a good average. I have a buddy whose wife wouldn't even touch them the first boil we ever had, now, I have to account for her eating 10 pounds, and she's a skinny little thing. I have to account for a whole sack for my son, I have to beg him not to fire up the cooker before 10 on Sunday for round two. I have a few "outliers" to account for, but 6-8 per sack works. I'm lucky that I have a few oilfield buddies that I can count on to buy a sack and put it on their expense account, since technically I still have an "oil company". Instead of footing the bill for 2-3 big boils. I can foot a quarter of 6-8 boils. CHIEF
  5. This. One of CHIEF Jr.'s favorite cars. We will probably buy a used one with a gazillion miles, drop in forged guts, a turbo, built transmission/clutch, and upgraded rear differential. Would be an absolute blast with 350-400hp at the track in Cresson. CHIEF
  6. It's early in the season, and the profit margin is probably 40% to the restaurants/bars. They make their money off the pussies that only eat a couple of pounds. One of our favorite Mexican food restaurants had live music and a boil last Saturday, they were $10/lb. The tab for my family of three would have been $350 if we would have went. If I'm going to smell like a minnow bucket, I'm gonna eat enough to make it worth it. CHIEF
  7. That's the way mine is. You can't talk in the house even with the doors and windows shut. You better have a 30 lb. bottle/ 8 gal. Two runs will pretty much kill a 4 gal. I've seen neighbors walk out of their house, and the first thing they do, is try to see what's on the airstrip about 400 yards away. My neighbor that has the unit from Academy also complained that you couldn't get in between the cracks and crevasses between the frame and the boiling tub and get it completely clean. It would start smelling bad enough he couldn't keep it in the garage. CHIEF
  8. We have a local guy that is making runs to LA, his medium and large mixed field run is down to $4.00/lb. Gonna have our first big boil weekend after next. CHIEF
  9. My neighbor offered me his for free. It definitely takes a long time to heat up, also not real easy to clean. My Bayou Classic dual jet with a 200 qt. pot boils in about 10 minutes, and will hold over a sack. It cleans up in 2-3 minutes. CHIEF
  10. Bingo. OB, how could you be so heartless? Everybody pitched in, no one died of starvation, Indian deprivation, exposure, or Heaven forbid, dysentery on the Oregon Trail. Andrew Jackson issued WIC cards off of the White House steps. CHIEF
  11. I just looked it up it's only $210 to get a guide license in the State of Texas. That's criminal. It doesn't remotely pay for the resource they are overusing. TPWD spent $3.7 mil this last year restocking trout, reds, and flounder. Raise the price, or charge a daily fee for the guides to pass on to their charters. Make C&R guides exempt. CHIEF
  12. I swear that's a thing. I truly believe it. If you kill one of God's creatures, then waste it, it seems you always get your "just" reward on the next few trips, even if unintentional. I lost two deer when my freezer went out, lost my lease right after that. CHIEF
  13. Yeah, that absolutely sucks. Guys like that should loose their ability to get a hunting and fishing license for life by TPWD. CHIEF
  14. What kind of consumer are you producing with a .13 GPA, and that is in the top 50th percentile of an inner city school? CHIEF
  15. A round trip for me to Port O is now over 700 miles. With a guide, gas, and lodging it costs over a grand. The three of us in my family take three full limits and relish every bite. However, we go maybe once a year at most. I would be strictly "take only enough for one meal" if I lived within 30 minutes for sure. That is the mindset that will keep the fisheries in good shape. I don't understand living in Victoria and keeping a limit twice a week. CHIEF
  16. I've stayed out of this one for a while. But having children needs to be costly and should have no incentives. They should be costly in both time and resources. Get rid of the child tax credit on income tax. Why? Because having children must be worth it, and only those that have prepared to make that sacrifice and have a stake in their success will have them. That, is how you fix the problem. Birth control should be free in this country, including Plan B, not just to the poor, but to every women. Same with vasectomies for men. There should be absolutely no excuses for having a child that the government has to pay to raise, or is unwanted. No child deserves that. CHIEF
  17. Yep, a few whiskeys in. I probably used two m's, that was a bad autofill. CHIEF
  18. Reba would be proud. Dogs are selfless. The true embodiment of what faith, love, and mercy are all about. Strange to think that we should immolate an animal that licks its own ass. CHIEF
  19. Sure seems like it takes the ball a long time to get there. What were tight windows in his HUDL would be interceptions in college ball. He is still really young, but he doesn't have a cannon. Admittedly, I only watched about the first three minutes. One can only watch the same play so many times from a different angle. CHIEF
  20. Especially the second verse. CHIEF
  21. Went to an outdoor range with my uncle that shoots a .300mag with a muzzle brake. It was the only gun that set off car alarms that day. CHIEF
  22. If I were Sark, I would ask Earl and Ricky if they could do me a "solid" and have them on speed dial during recruiting so a potential commit could call them and ask their position personally. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/earl-campbell-still-supports-his-schools-eyes-of-texas-song/ar-BB18RTsc CHIEF
  23. The ones on the Escalades either have too fine of threads on the screws that hold them in, or they break off. It is a true "they don't make them like they used to" situation. If they were an old "push button" or "pull up" plastic design, it probably wouldn't be a problem, but "pulling out" stresses the rear two screws of the assembly and either strips the threads, or breaks the plastic screw protrusion off, which remains on the end of the screw. People naturally use the handle to pull the door the test of the way open all the way to the door stop. When you have 500 different people ride in your vehicle over time, they end up breaking the handles. CHIEF
  24. You can bet their first conclusion is "stolen plates", not a mistaken plate number. Stolen plates probably means the guys riding in the stolen car are dangerous. Hence, the overreaction. Remember, the cops are infallible in their minds, and everything is a worst case scenario. CHIEF
  25. My cousin's daughter drowned in a swimming pool years ago, and our Jack Russell got ran over the same day. After my Dad died, our old weiner dog died a short time later. Both of these dogs were favorites of the deceased. I've come to the conclusion that they needed companionship in Heaven. I know that sounds stupid, but it helped me rationalize it when it happened. Think of it that way, it helped my family and I. Maybe this explanation will help your wife and kids. Let them know this happens sometimes, and your daughter needed an animal companion in Heaven. Hope this helps, I sure feel for you with your terrible losses lately. CHIEF
