  1. KK has apparently said “I have no memory of talking so tough to anyone at Willie’s birthday party…." But then he also said: Kristofferson then told the Star Tribune that he doesn’t even remember the exchange with Keith, but his wife does. “That’s something that happened six years ago,” he said. “I can’t even remember what I had for breakfast.” Also, if it didn't happen, why didn't Toby Keith sue Rolling Stone? You know why? Because it totally fucking happened. Anyway, the dude sucks but I don't wish cancer on (almost) anyone. Hope he pulls through.
  2. Well, I finally ran into lump in public. We have some friends who are members at Balcones Country Club and we met them up there to swim and drink beers for fathers' day yesterday. She was there at the bar. Apparently Lump and Matt Mckowiak are regulars at the country club bar.
  3. That pic will always make me laugh, and will always confuse the shit out of me. Are there lime rinds in there?
  4. Probably interviewed at multiple companies. Received an offer and accepted. Subsequently received a better offer and never bothered to tell other employer. Shitty move and a potential bridge-burner. But on the other hand, fuck the man....
  5. You've got this. Kick it's ass, brother.
  6. "to get our people back to work" also assumes that they weren't working from home. Meanwhile - https://www.worldcoffeeportal.com/Latest/News/2021/November/Starbucks-exceeds-pre-pandemic-earnings-after-reco What a dickhead. Fuck that guy.
  7. Both of these people are idiots. But homie in the blue shirt and flip-flops gonna catch an assault charge. Hope it was worth it buddy!
  8. Here are some funny stats/quotes I came across while reading about Bill Russell today: RPG per year: 56: 19.6 57: 22.7 58: 23.0 59: 24.0 60: 23.9 61: 23.6 62: 23.6 63: 24.7 64: 24.1 65: 22.8 66: 21.0 67: 18.6 68: 19.3 So dude averaged 24 rpg in 59 and did not lead the league. That's how bad shooting was back then. I also liked this quote from wikipedia about how Russell became the player/coach after Red Aurbach retired:
  9. MJ Lebron/Kareem Bird/Magic/Russell/Wilt Stef/Duncan/Hakeem/Shaq I can't do 10 because I think there are tiers. I wouldn't have included Stef in this before last night but you've got to now. It's really tough trying to figure out where to rank Russell and Wilt because I never saw them play, and it was such a different game back then. Particularly with Russell because he had like 5 hall of famers on his team. It is funny to see all the millennials and gen z twats that never saw MJ play in the 90s arguing that Stef or Lebron are better.
  10. To be fair, what else is there to care about when you’re playing on one of the worst teams in the league?
  11. Cautiously optimistic. Rockets fans are thrilled to dump him, even though they got very little in return. He's been on 7 teams in 7 years. But I wonder how much of his attitude issues are playing on a team that sucks shit through a straw every night. I just hope the Mavs wait to see if he gels with the team before extending him.
  12. But how are you going to know how to raise your kids if you're ignoring America's Number One Dad?
  13. Why? It's an endorsement deal. It's supposed to be separate from their status as a collegiate football player. Why couldn't it be a multi-year deal that runs into their professional career?
  14. I saw that Bijan's Lambo deal is a one-year thing. Wonder if it would be in Lambo's interest to sign him to a multi-year endorsement so that when he goes on to the pros, if he becomes a star, he'll have potentially broader NFL exposure.
  15. Your complaints about Whataburger are not invalid. But your assumptions regarding Chicago food are. They will shoot you in the face if you put ketchup on a hot dog. Fried fish sandwiches aren't a thing in Chicago. That's Baltimore. And nowhere serves pepsi. But otherwise, rage on. Last time I went they made me a grilled cheese. But that was probably a month ago.
  16. user name definitely checks out.
  17. No one wants to have culture war discussions in the recruiting thread, dude.
  18. First two episodes are ok. It suffers from some of the same continuity and budget issues that affected Bobba Fett. Some of the actions sequences just look cheap and cheesy. Leia running through the forest. Leia running through the market. The rooftop shootout. Also, on the rooftop shootout there were two bounty hunters shooting at Obi-Wan. We saw him shoot the non-human bounty hunter, but we never saw him shoot the droid. He shoots at the droid, but they cut away without showing the droid get hit. I guess we are just supposed to assume he hit the droid, because after he shoots the other non-human guy, there are no more shots and he can save Leia from falling. But it’s confusing to the audience not to see resolution on the other bad guy taking a hit.
  19. Salet under patty should be standard. I don't understand why it's not. It helps trap the grease and (somewhat) prevents the bottom bun from getting soggy and dissolving. I also find it helpful to set the burger down upside down after taking bites, as the top bun is always sturdier than the bottom bun. And it's a more natural motion when picking the burger back up.
  20. There have been multiple "simple and easy solutions" favored by the vast majority of Americans that would potentially help address the problem introduced in the Senate killed by Republicans financially beholden to the NRA. That's the reason why nothing "could work out or not", because the NRA and their minions in the Senate (mis)interpret the Second Amendment and unfettered immediate access to any and all firearms as a "right we're (not) willing to surrender". That's the reason.
  21. My wife's a counselor and was a special ed teacher, so I'm acutely aware of their their dedication, motivation, the challenges they face, etc. I understand you think you were praising teachers. And yes, it is a good thing that teachers are motivated despite their low pay. we collectively "value" their dedication to a job that pays little with almost zero opportunity for meaningful salary increase over the course of a career. You see that as some sort of altruistic sacrifice they are making for the greater good. But teachers don't want your gratitude. They want to be "valued" not with your words and target gift cards during teacher appreciation week, but with resources necessary to do their job. Relative to this thread that means more security guards/cops at school, and tighter security restrictions. It also means not having to teach in portable classrooms. It means fewer students per class. It means not having to pay for school supplies out of their own pockets. It means dedicated TAs to help with classroom instruction and grading papers, which they have to do after hours at home at night after already working a 10 hour day. It means not protesting and/or threatening them if they're teaching the sometimes uncomfortable history of our country, or if they acknowledge and accept the sexuality or gender preferences of their students. They want the tools they need to do their job. And we don't equip them with that. And for too long we've taken for granted that "idealistic, altruistic" people will take these essential jobs and teach our kids for us. But I'm not sure how much longer we can expect that. There are currently 573 open teacher positions in AISD alone. And a very large percentage of those aren't going to get filled for the next school year. And it's because we don't pay them enough for them to have to deal with the shit I outlined in the previous paragraph. You ask if I still think qualified and dedicated candidates would want to become teachers if the pay was $100k/year? FUCK YES I do! The more you increase compensation, the higher likelihood you will attract a larger number of more qualified candidates. It's fucking basic economics! If we paid teachers $100k per year, you could count the number of teacher openings on two hands. And maybe then teachers could afford to live in the same city as they kids they teach. I know you aren't bagging on teachers. But we have to stop appreciating teachers with our words and start doing it with $$$. It's just more "thoughts and prayers". Sorry for the rant and to derail a thread that's about dead kids. That's all I'll say on the subject.
  22. Oh, you see, that was parody. I was pretending to be you and making fun of the stupid thing you said - "No question that educators are underpaid.... in a way, it's a good thing because it ensures that those who teach do so for the right reasons." That's what you said. That incredibly fucking shitty thing about it being a good thing teachers are underpaid. Then you double down in the above post by talking about how valued teachers are. Try paying for groceries with "value".
  23. Also, don't tell me it's exclusively a mental health issue while also reducing access to affordable mental health and/or not requiring insurance companies to cover it as part of a health insurance plan. Fuck off with that "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas" bullshit.
  24. Fuck off to anyone who uses the old "if a person is crazy he's going to find a way to kill a lot of people. are we going to ban cars next?". It has no relevance to a discussion about how to reduce mass shooter events.
  25. I've been assured that a big fence would keep all immigrants out of America and that ladders don't work on fences. Boom. Problem solved.
